Biggerbigben - Golf sold.. another new project!
biggerbigben replied to biggerbigben's topic in Members Gallery
thanks for all the comments. I haven't been on here for ages as been really busy at work but basically I have had a few people interested but going to advertise it in the mags next month. If it hasn't gone by the end of Nov then I'm going to break it as I need the cash for the house deposit... cheers B -

Why is it everyone who knows me keeps going on about my bloody hands! If only you knew how much work Me and Mr H put in this weekend doing an R32 engine transplant in 2 days and getting the car started at 10:30 pm on sunday you wouldn't moan about my bloody mits! Most of it is blood anyway! ;-) Anyway.. I might have a word with PVW to see if they are having a shoot out at anytime, but tbh, it might be a nice thing for the new owner to have a crack at!?? B -

Thanks guys. Appreciate the comments big time! Really want to keep it but trying to put my sensible hat back on :( Cost - its worth what someones prepared to pay for it. I'm not going to give it away and breaking IS an option, but I would rather someone bought it whole, loved it.. perhaps put their own mark on it - Haldex, respray.. whatever! Keeping on the subject of breaking. If any one seriously fancies the engine setup in their corrado **340bhp people!!!** (4cyl corrado's preferably, but would consider mk2/3's for an additional cost) then I may seriously consider doing an engine swap.. You drop me off the car and I'll convert it for you! Obviously a price will need to be negotiationed.. and spec.. (engine mounts, clutch etc). The car's FWD gearbox will be used also. Interested? let me know. -

I know what you are both saying (Coxy+Phat) but I have so much cash tied up in the cars. All of which needs to be utilized in order to pay off debts/save for a house deposit. Its really annoying as I would love to own the corrado for another 10 years but the opportunity has arisen for purchasing a house. Something has to go and my Golf + Corrado are the luxury items that aren’t totally necessary. Coxy, due to the situation I was in when I started the project.. aka a student, there was no way I could build the car unless I went into debt. Even now while in full time employment I struggle to spend any cash on the car per month and as you all know these projects require a cash injection every so often! Thus why it’s taken me a year to get it on the road from the last ED38 show! Looking positively at the situation, its not like I can’t do something similar again in the future. I’m just taking a break from it all and will probably buy a sensible passat tdi or something! Time will tell. I’m looking to put a good advert together on the coupehaus.co.uk website sometime towards the end of next week. If you know of anyone that might be interested in buying this one off corrado then please let me know. I’ve had some interest thus far but I’m going to want as much as I can get for her and in all honestly I know I can get a good amount for it if I were to break it. I don’t want to do that but there are a lot of expensive components in that car that would still demand a reasonable sum. Cheers Ben -

Thanks guys.. Nick are you able to host that vid/audio clip? Never heard it while standing behind it on launch! ;-) Its going purley to pay for a house deposit at the beginning of next year. Simple as. I would be lying if I said I'm bored of it.. far from it infact. I would love to fit haldex and take it to worthersee next year ... I just hope the new owner might just be able to do just that, who ever that might be?! I must admit if you like the idea of embarrassing a Porsche 996 Carrera 4 S, which I did on the way to ED38 then this is the car for you. At a guess 0-60 must be around 4 to 5 secs.. 0-100 an easy sub 10 secs.. now go away and find out what cars will do that ?? !!! Also sitting behind that TVR dash is extremely comfy/cossy and the Stack unit just ozzes quality/accuracy! It is a project however and there are things that need doing, BUT its totally road regal and works fine! Anyway enough sales speel for now. Ben -

Yeah its a shock even for me.. Bally, I didn't say anything at the weekend mate because I wasn't sure. Today I made my mind up fully. will be sorting details, spec and cost etc later this evening. I will put a new thread up in the for sale section. Ben -

Ok here goes.. I'm going to write some blurb on this sometime this evening but basically I'm selling the corrado. I don't want to and I'm quite upset about having to let it go but I need to raise the money for a house deposit and pay off some debts. As I said before I'll get all the facts and figures together later on but it has to be this way. The idea has been rolling around in my head for sometime now but I just wanted to get it on the road and enjoy it for a while. I've done 1000 miles in it with no problems and have enjoyed it hugely. I wish I could afford to keep it but I can't. I will still stay in the VW scene and I will be back again in years to come with another project or two. Its a shame. I have enjoyed every minute of making this car what it is today.. Yes there has been some stressfull times but then again there have been many rewarding times also - highlight - seeing John Munyard crap his paints and giggle like a nervous school girl last weekend while taking him for a spin at the ED38 show. Anyway.. cheers all and if you know of anyone that might be interested in owning a very quick, fantastic handling, fun and individual corrado - let me know. Ben :( -

Standard rallye box at the moment.. soon to be a nice 6spd S3 box with the haldex swap. No idea about G60 tuning... I'm sure someone on here could help. New paint! lol... its 3 years old and scratched and chipped to death.. needs a respray! -

Well there is alot to be done before I do a dash swap again - if I keep the car I will prob have a change sometime though - Will have to really think hard for something a radical as the TVR dash idea! But Haldex must come first!! I have a few things up my sleeve but this time around I'm going to keep quiet and make it a suprise for nexts year !! Let phase 2 begin! Obviously this time round I'm going to try and keep the car on the road as much as possible! Its a shame you couldn't make it mate, all that work and it would have been nice to make it to E38 - oh well, there's always next year! -

sorry mate, just seen this.. Going to fit Haldex shortly so blowing up the transmission shouldn't be an issue! I'm using a 3 bar map sensor but thats on an aftermarket EMS. Are you using the standard G60 ECU? Hardly got you beat on looks mate, the car is pretty much standard on the exterior! Keep us posted on your progress chap, be interesting to know how you get on. 1.8t black smoke - now fixed with stealth RR graph
biggerbigben replied to samg60's topic in Engine Bay
Open the casing on the throttle body (7 black screws with alan key heads i think) and there will be a metal flange at the end of the spline. On that there is a section bent at 90 degrees to allow the buttefly to stay open enough for air to enter the engine on ideal. Get a set of mole grips and bend it until you are happy with the idle... See pic... OR use cable ties like I did as a quick fix on the buttefly section where the cable connects.. ;-) King bodger Radford !!! -
