  1. Hey Jim, what's the latest on this? Is it still in limbo / waiting for enough people? Do you take the payments up front to prevent people changing their minds?
  2. Good lad! Think of the smiles per miles you'll get out of it, and as said, seeing as its been sat for 4 years, it's not really all that much to pay all things considered. Let us know how you get on. Bet you cant wait for that first drive once its done!
  3. As said you'll lose august as it is only full months they give refunds on. Id still try and get it off to them early and obtain some proof of post with a date mark incase they try to wriggle out of anything. Or send it recorded so you at least know when they will have received it and it only costs 95p more to send it that way.
  4. Hopefully will go to the NEC, like you say it's a great show. I try to miss a couple of years just so i don't get bored of it. Last time i went is the time i met you there on the Corrado owners club display. Hey, i know just what you mean about costs of going to to shows and the pinch. Long gone are the days when it was cheap to go and you could go to a show every couple of weekends! Great news that your P&J got another years ticket. Cant beat that feeling of driving out of the MOT station with a fresh years ticket in your hand! ---------- Post added at 9:42 PM ---------- Previous post was at 9:39 PM ---------- Gareth, that's the coolest line I've heard like EVAR!! That porsche you saw is long gone, karmann ghia also went a couple of years ago. the beetle still queens it up in the garage! Are you going to the VWNW and will be OSV be there? ---------- Post added at 9:46 PM ---------- Previous post was at 9:42 PM ---------- I don't why, but i kept them! To be fair, the tyres on those got close to being illegal and i had a set of stock looking 15" BBS with brand new tyres and i really didn't want to shell out on new tyres and so just did a wheel and tyre swap and the Borbets are in the garage..... ironically, i have sourced very good replacement tyres for those wheels but i have no Corrado to put them on now.
  5. Alright jim? You coming to VWNW on Sunday? hope to see you there. As for stanford hall, haven't missed one yet for as long as i can remember, as you know, I'm an air cooled dubber through and through. This year, i didn't get to see or speak to hardly anyone as i was with my 4 year old and she got bored and wanted to go almost as soon as we got there so got the it's i needed for the beetle and was off quite soon instead of getting the chance to look around at the cars and talk to people. How is your Corrado? ---------- Post added at 9:35 PM ---------- Previous post was at 9:32 PM ---------- How are you bazza? Was just thinkIng of you the other day, was going through some old pictures of one offs stuff and your wirey design was in there. 10+ years counts as a lifer imy books!
  6. Yep, my baby has got a new owner and moves on! pretty much 9 years to the day that i owned the VR6, and had a valver for a year or two before that. Feels weird not owning a Corrado after some 10-11 yeras of having one as a daily. Anyway, this forum has been instrumental in every mod / repair / tweak or whatever it was, and I owe a huge thank you to everyone that has helped and contributed with helping over those 9 years, so thanks. Thankfully, the car has only gone a few miles down the road, and i will get to see (and hear) it all the time.
  7. I have been wondering a simiar thing to the OP for a while now. Are Corrados worth more broken in parts, than a complete car?
  8. Gareth, really wanted to come by and say hello today at tatton but had my three year old with me and she always wanted to go in a different direction to me (i wanted to look at volkswagens and she wanted to go on rides!!!) and in the end I ended up having to head off earlier than planned cos she was shattered. Next show hopefully will hook up. Car is looking mint as ever in the pictures and continues to be a credit to you.
  9. Long time no speak mate... just caught up on here... damn! I cant imagine how it would feel if my VR6 was sold! I know you loved yours the same way. So you are just Zippy now!
  10. AFAIK No you dont have to purchase in advance, you can pay on the gate, but you ought to have a "club pass" which is usually sent to you in advance by your club.
  11. Looking good Paulo. Are you generally home in the evenings?
  12. from experience, i'd check the plugs. I had a smiliar problem. Morinically, i changed the coil pack and leads (due to poor advice given by Lion Garage in Hinckley - don't use them people). Turned out to be a simple case of knackered plugs. So a 25/30 quid job cost me nearly 200 quid. So, check your plugs, it's the best place to start.
  13. Thanks. Very nice of you to say so. I like the 16" Borbet C's on a VR6, i think they are one of the nicest wheels for a Corrado (barring BBS Split rims etc) Here is how is once looked! lol Better with a little bit of droppage tho, i'm sure you'll agree: I wish it still looked as good as that. Poor thing has lead a harsh outdoor life and is suffering a little bit around the edges now!
  14. Yep, Far Left is my vr6 on 16" borbet C's. Next one pass. Next one was Judith's Storm (guessing) Next one pass. Last one Jay's car with the awesome Audi tt interior and wildass wheels.
  15. Of course Jimbo! Besides, you're one of the fewer longer term members on here that I know, as is Yandards. Joking aside, i only said you cos back then, i remember you were always the one that organised (and had all the stress of) these rolling road days. Spot on. Well remembered. Was this the event that I got VW Motoring (RIP) to attend and they did a little write up too?
  16. From memory, that was taken during the 2nd Corrado Forum Rolling Road day @ Stealth Racing. How many years ago was that? At a guess, around 5+ years at least? (Maybe Jim can verify?) Is Dinkus still around? Didnt he go to Canada or something?
  17. Paul, get some pictures up on here of the beast. (That means your VR6, not you posing in the mirror) Look forward to seeing it. Where is the car at the moment? Still in the bodyshop? Did you have any rust around the windscreen? PS, that picture I sent you via text was a photo of the brochure.
  18. *They are much faster than a standard VR6 (cos it has a STORM engine) *They drive and handle better than a standard VR6 (cos it has the red storm badge) *They look better than all other corrados (cos they have the storm badge) *And they are worth twice and much (cos it's a storm) That's the main difference. * Warning the above message may contain sarcasm and irony.
  19. Kiddha Paul. Hope you got my picture of the gamma? That may only have been for the standard vr6. Not sure what the storm vr6 came with. Get some pictures up of your car! Here's mine:
  20. Well, the car is well and truly back on the road after the misfiring was fixed (New Plugs were all that was needed - but it now has a new coil pack and leads thanks to lazy / sloppy / mis-diagnosis by Lion Garage of Hinckley). Anyway... the ABS light is stuck on. We have cleaned all the ABS sensors on each wheel but it just stays on. What could be the possible causes of this, so i know which eay to go about trying to rectify it properly? Thanks in advance.
  21. The nice thing was that he said he loves the rest of the car and everything else is sweet, it's just the brakelines that are totally shot. Am looking forward to getting it back on the road after a looooong rest on my driveway!
  22. Well, the engine is ok. The braking system.... That's another matter! Too many i would say at a guess! Ironically, when i first drove the car over to Lion, they took ONE plug out, gave it a 2 second glancing look and said "yeah looks fine". I should not have taken that as gospel - I now realise that. Yep, an expensive and relatively pointless lesson learnt!
  23. after all that, it was the simplest thing: spark plugs!
  24. Garage that has the car just phoned. It was the plugs!!! So, a little tip for you all.... Don't listen to the "experts" @ Lion Garage who said "start with the coil-pack, then the leads" My advice from experince (and that of the garage) START WITH THE PLUGS Then the leads Then the Coil-pack. By listening to the "experts" i have now a brand new coil pack which i did not need and a set of brand new leads which i did not need! That was the good news. The bad news - The entire braking system is F**k*d Well not entire but: All the brake pipes from front to rear are finished / wont pass MOT rear disks and pads are past their best / wont pass MOT Rear hoses are past their best / crusty and rusty / wont pass MOT Front brake bias is well out and all over the place / wont pass MOT ABS Light coming on / wont pass MOT (i know this is just a sensor that needs cleaning) SO, the car went to have the misfire sorted (which i could have done at home with the right tools and a set of plugs) but instead is going to have the entire braking system pretty much overhauled and lots of things replaced! To be fair, some of this was an advisory last MOT and the car is in well trusted hands so i'm looking forward to getting it back in a day or two. Not looking forward to the bill!
