  1. i love it too. probably not to own long term, but it would be awesome just to have a go in it for a while! Some awesome detailing on there. Saw it on this recently http://jalopnik.com/360844/volvo-rod-a- ... amed-jakob
  2. welcome to the forum. You have already made that car look better looking at the before and after shots. Keep us posted with what you do with it. Looks a good un.
  3. Congratulations on getting a VR6 mate. You'll never look back can promise ya. Dont rush the lowering. I did as soon as i got my VR and was not happy with what i did cos it went too low and scrapped everywhere. Ended up "unlowering" a little with replacement springs it and adding Eibach ARBs and have been much happier with the new set up. Vince did it for me incase you wanna know who/where.
  4. Defo looking forward to it, and hopefully will be bringing something different this year. Totally agree. Have been there and done it and found it a waste of good money. Each to their own and all that. Im happy with the set up i have so thats all that really matters i suppose. Dont rush for the sake of it. Its the sort of thing you only really wanna spend money on once.
  5. Good day Jimbo. Long time mate! You are more than welcome to have a listen to the set up i have in my VR anytime. I have a subwoofer in the boot which is ugly and takes up boot space so for those reasons i dislike it. However... It sounds absolutely brilliant and i can blast the music i like to listen to now and get something out of the music. Also, it was NOT expensive and has its own built in amp so there was very little involved in fitting and labour etc. If the boot space is needed it can be very simply unplugged and removed. This leaves the head unit to power the speakers. I have 6x9's on a standard rear shelf, standard crappy ones in the front doors and dash (and they are crappy and rubbish) and have added some little tweaters on the top of the dashboard. I bought the rear shelf with kenwood speakers from Bobby Shergill for a silly amount from a car he was breaking at the time, leaving me with the original shelf intact and uncut etc. Dont rush what you do cos you will end up with a load of bits you just regret buying. (I know this from past experience). As i say, anytime you wanna have a listen (and a blast in the VR6!) let me know.
  6. not sure if you have already done this job, but i used the wiki on here and it was perfect help in doing the job. make sure you dont loose a single screw cos each and every one is needed (done up reasonably tight too) to stop the rattles and squeaks when you put the whole lot back together again.
  7. thanks for the advice. they took it to a local mechanic and he sorted it in about 5 minutes. thanks again. panic over!
  8. Right folks.... Need as much help as possible here..... My sister has foolishly (and i have no idea how but i think its ludicrous and want to strangle her) dropped her engangement ring down the back of the dashboard in our aunt's Golf and cant get it back out. She's in tears and doesnt know what to do. They have tried fidling around with a wire and stuff in the area and cant get it out. I dont know if they even know where it has gone! She said it fell down the bit right up by the windscreen / tax disc sort of area. Is it a windscreen out job or dashboard out job? or is there a way to access it from underneath somehow? Anyone with any advice or knowledge on this, please say something cos as always, its me, who has got to somehow sort this problem out. Thanks is advance folks.

  10. why is this so cheap??? http://www.pistonheads.com/sales/306574.htm
  11. Couldnt agree with you more about that. And its exactly times like that when my VR6 (even without a Turbo) comes into its own. Its not just about figures on paper and horsepower and thats what a lot of people (not neccesarily on here, but people who "think" they know about cars) can't seem to understand. And thankfully for a change this week i have been using mine a hell of a lot more than the usual boring trip to work. Been to Manchester, London and Dudley (of all places) all in the space of a week and can say (apart from that Audi! lol) nothing has troubled me or got in the way and its still a buzz to drive.
  12. Damn straight Doctor. I looked on Autotrader the next day to find me one of these fine cars and the cheapest unwanted ones go for £35'000! Even more a decent one. Each to their own and all that, but in my book, you've got to be rich or stupid surely to spend that kind of money on such a car. My VR6 is just fine. It still makes a lot of so called fast cars look ordinary and the driving thrill after all these years has still not worn off. Just need to avoid those RS Audis thats all! Saying that, we werent racing each other. It's good to have a fast car with a sensible driver with you on the motorway as you can both maintain a decent speed and clear cars at the same time etc. Its only when the other car floors it from a lower speed that you have to wait while the VR winds itself up in comparison. When he eventually pulled off at his junction he looked across, nodded and gave the thumbs up sign towards the VR which if im honest, absolutely made my day! I think it would have been soul destroying if he didnt even know i was there.
  13. Late last night driving back from London on the M1. My god those Audis are quick!!!! Cant really say the speeds on a public forum, but anyway, we were both stuck behind a slower car in the fast lane, him in front of me.... When the slower car moved out of the way we both floored it at the same time. Mine made a loud noise and started to accelerate after a split second. The Audi in front, literally vanished into the distance in a split second. Took me ages to wind my old VR6 lump to catch him which didnt take as long as i thought it would take but still felt like ages compared to the way his Audi flew. I didnt realise they were that quick, then had a look on the net today only to find they have almost twice as many horses and a couple of Turbos tuned by Cosworth! What a machine!
  14. As i said in the VZi thread, i dont think it has made my car any quicker and if i remember correctly, Vince didnt either. It just sounds nice (at times!)
  15. just read this on VZi whilst bored at work. Couldnt help but crack up at the ideas and how dillusioned some people are about these things! Just made me laugh and thought i'd post it up on here for your pleasure! 10-20 hp??? Please! http://www.volkszone.com/VZi/showthread.php?t=406765

  17. I was too and then found the same as you. Only thing is, i dont have freeview at work here on my pre-historic tv! Will just have to "watch" the information live on the F1 website like a saddo!
  18. I know for a fact they dont have a Bugatti Veyron! Maybe i should order a taxi and state that i want to be picked up by the car on their business card!
  19. Bobby, the car looks wicked in them pictures. Even better than it looked when it was parked up when i came to see you a few months ago. (Although it was quite dusty then too) I think im gonna have to come up again and you can take me for a spin in it next time. Will bring my VR6 so you can remember just how plain your once looked!
  20. funny. made me laugh. i liked the mention of the Corrado too.
  21. i went before, i think it was the year before last. well worth it. You're able to get right up close to the fun stuff. There were bits of gear box lying around when we went that you could just play with. Plus there's the heritage room with some awesome cars from motorsport in there including Richard Burns' car, and some older stuff too. Anyone thinking about going and is not sure, i would say go.
  22. looks like brushing it on is the way to go then. Goldie, how long did you leave in between coats? and were they lost of thin coats or did you lay it on quite thick?
  23. amazing pictures. what a place! makes me wonder about all the wonderful things they could do to my Corrado. if only money was no object!
