Hi all, Sorry if this is a daft question, just wanna make sure. Anyone know if these pads/discs are correct for the VR6 rear: Pads: https://www.vwheritage.com/shop/corrado/1H0698451G/brake-pad-set-for-226x10-discs-mk3-golf-corrado/?crumbStartPage=1&crumbStartRow=1 Discs: https://www.vwheritage.com/shop/corrado/357615601B/brake-disc-rear-mk3-golf-gti-corrado-vr6-5-100/?crumbStartPage=1&crumbStartRow=1 These are the only discs/pads that mention VR6, so I guess these are correct... Cheers

I Joined the CCGB to go to events. So far I've been to one (Practical Classics Restoration show - This year). Didn't bring the Corrado as its been off the road for ages. Why don't I go to more events? - Money, just bought a house currently eating all my money. A 30's semi eats more cash then a rental flat! - Time, working on house, which is a project - Can't afford to run my car currently Hoping the above will change soon. What do I think of CCGB: - The only car club I've been in, so can't comment on others. Generally enjoy seeing the club stand at events and talking to others. As others have said, don't like the idea of leaving the car all day. - CCGB site is dead and this is the best resource for the Corrado by far. - Genuinely appreciate your efforts in keeping a club for a rare car going What do i like the idea of/suggestions for CCGB - Breakfast meets sounds great. All turn up have some food and talk - Beer? Meet and Beer? Car Beer? BEER -

Having had my car broken into recently, I came across this article Just wondering if anyone's got any experience of the following: http://techiefans.com/how-to-track-your-vehicle-on-the-cheap-using-your-smartphone-in-uk/ Looks like it could be cost effective, compared to paying for a tracking service. Anyone got any experience of this or anything similar?

Ever feel like owning a Corrado is like have a disease?
Erallus replied to EJ Taylor's topic in General Car Chat
^^ This - I've bought a house last year, and I've not spent a thing on my Corrado for two years. Its sat for a year untouched. So I know its gonna kill me when I try to get it back on the road (looking like next summer now) What you end up spending on a house dwarfs it. I've thought about selling, but then I end up looking for something else, nothing quite fits the bill. Your lucky your misses lets you, as others have said, she at least understands. Think mine would have gone nuts -
Nice one Anna

So, I have a smashed rear quarter window. Has anyone tried to source a replacement for one of these recently? Couldn't see a recent thread on here, I'll give the dealers a bash, but I bet there obsolete. Will need to be fitted by a professional as its bonded. Cheers

Practical Classics Restoration Show 2016 - March 5th & 6th
Erallus replied to Jim's topic in Event Announcements & Discussion
Really enjoyed it, great club stand guys. Got me a nice t shirt to boot. -
Merry Christmas everyone. hope you all have a great day. I'm up preparing food already lol.

Anyone seen this in the news today: http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/business-34322016 I wonder what this will do to their sales and reputation. So this could mean that a load of cars on the roads are illegal, and get recalled if the EU decide to do a similar investigation. Anyone got a 14/15 plate Golf?

Easypops, love your set-up!

Nice, one :D I have exactly the same problem. so many jobs to do, that I need longer to do. You worry you'll run out of time (as you probably will if its your first time). Good that you have the space now

Moving to a new house soon, that has a garage. Hoping to be able to build a bigger one as the current garage is a wood hut thats falling down. Not sure what the neighbours will be like, shall see. Currently stuck in a flat which has a no car maintenance policy. Still do the odd bit of course! Luckily I get along with the curtain twitcher on the estate, so he leaves me alone.

...The coolant system works fine now, no leaking. But the rad fan doesn't seem to come on. The temp gauge said 90C and the fan didn't come on (assuming that was accurate, no means of testing). I'll check its working by bypassing it, see what that does.

Few updates. Decided to do a home refurb on the cooling fans. Managed to get it all back in together. Bit of a faff lining the two bumper bolts up, but got there in the end. thanks to all on this thread for your help: http://the-corrado.net/showthread.php?t=89927 Flushed the cooling system out with water and a rad flush product. Got the car started after four months of not using it, with some new fuel it seemed to start up fine. After I ran it for about 40 min to get the temperature up, the fan came on no probs. Once I'd parked it up though, all of a sudden steam shot out from under the bonnet, the cooling system de-pressurised and water went everywhere (right side of the engine, expansion tank side). I think I may have forgotten to do up one of the clips!! whoops. Didn't have time to investigate it further. Now that I think about it i deffo forgot to do up the lowest rad hose clip (let that be a lesson to me lol). The abs light has come one and won't go out, so I'll be checking the abs sensors next weekend. Hopefully not the pump or unit. I also suspect there may be a slight blow on the exhaust I'll be working from tomorrow, so hopefully get VCDS bought soonish. :thumbleft:

Cheers for that Jim, quite brief as you say. Still, gotta start somewhere. It's getting more attention.

Hi Anna, I was just about to contact you guys about this, to see if you supplied them. They are indeed a common fault. I spent much of last weekend trying to fix mine, as the screw that goes into the end trumped has snapped on mine. Its all rusted up (the trumpet as well as the tiny screw) I'd certainly be interested in buying any new produced parts, as I'm sure many others would be. I'm sure an improvement on the poor design of the original (as others have said) would be much appreciated. I don't have any spare parts unfortunately. does anyone have any experience of this part, which i just found on the net: http://www.tdnparts.com/hood-release-cable-kit-corrado-vr6/ Also found this how to/cable breakdown guide, which may help: http://www.bethandjames.com/corrado_hood_release.htm Cheers

aha! Halfords do this: http://www.halfords.com/motoring-travel/bulbs-wiper-blades-batteries/car-battery-chargers/halfords-battery-top-up-water-5l That'll do nicely, cheers for the help all.

Hi all, Having trouble finding a local place the sells Distilled water. The big supermarkets all claim to sell it, but I've been round Asda and Tesco, and it doesnt seem to be there. Seems daft to have to order it online. Anyone know a good supplier? Also, I can't use de-ionied water can I? I'm half tempted to make some myself: Cheers
