Appearing more and more in the classic mags these day's isn't it.

I don't like retro VW's anymore, sold the lot and bought a Prius. Old cars are so dangerous and bad for the environment anyway. Also, I've bought it on finance.

Very good shout! That will save me a lot of work overall. I'll take a look for a replacement panel.

Hey all, What do you think the chances are of me repairing some rust to just below the rubber seal (behind rear wiper), without having to take the rear windscreen out? I can get to the rust without removing the windscreen, but I'm not sure using an angle grinder, welder etc would crack the rear windscreen, what you reckon? My thoughts are yes, and I should probably get it removed, then see about repairing the damage.

Despite having a new baby. I still have enthusiasm for it. In the way the above has made me rethink all my other hobbies , so I'm getting rid of all that so when I do get some time it's spent on the car. What annoys me more than anything at the moment is the amount of money you need to buy a efficient daily petrol car (looking for an estate) the second hand market seems to have disappeared lately . Its either a wreck or you need more that 10k

My second car was a red Mk3 GL. They get a lot of hate. But compared to my metro as a first car it was a dream. Felt like I'd made it lol! (Bought for 500 quid) . Tempted by t5 for the family bit silly expensive . Love the photos. It's all about file size with this forum and getting the photoes on. -

Hi all, Anyone got a good supplier they've used to get lifting chains. I need a couple around a metre long each. Just needs to support gear box. Seen one or two on Amazon, but wondering if there's a better supplier. Thanks

Sorry to jump onto this thread. Anyone know where to pick a Hella one up? Heritage parts rad seems to be an unbranded one.

Ordered the bar in your links, will see how I get on, thanks for the advice all. Cheers for that, saved me a few quid

yeah good point, may need to take a quick measurement. I have width, but not much length (fnarr fnarr) A lot seem to say they can slip off the wings. Wow, even cheaper one, cheers for the tip, 40 quid is so cheap, may as well try this one out first. Thanks

Hi all, I need to separate the gearbox from the car to remove a bolt which got in there (tried magnet tools, cameras, no luck very unlucky). Question is support beam or a crane? The crane seems like it would be more useful overall, but its a lot more expensive and is this overkill for a job like this. However, happy to offset the additional cost by having a nice crane for any future work (chain removal ect ect). Space isn't an issue as lucky enough to have a garage to work in. The two products I'm considering: Support Beam https://www.machinemart.co.uk/p/clarke-cec500ds-dual-hook-enginegearbox-suppo/ Crane: https://www.machinemart.co.uk/p/cfc100-1-tonne-folding-workshop-crane/ Maybe I'll just get the beam, see how it goes as it's only 80 quid!

Hope you don't mind me asking, do they do cloth interiors? I'd love to get my drivers seat sorted.

He has a full series of video's on his VR6 golf project, very good to watch.

Camera didn't work, looks like I'll be dropping the gearbox or separating it briefly
-
I have indeed, can't get to it unfortunately, discovered the gasket for that cover is also missing in process , so will order one of those . Got a camera with a pickup tool on the way . Hopefully that sorts it

Hiya, Had a bit of a whoops! Changing the starter motor I managed to drop the bushing into the gearbox bell housing! Seems I have two options. Get a camera inspection tool (have tried a couple of magnet tools but no use ) or split the gearbox . Don't fancy this Anyone used a decent camera with pickup attachment or magnet ?
