Hi Guys, I'm looking at getting a spring compressor as the Front suspension on my Corrado is knackered (clanks and groans) also my the front spring on my Lupo has just snapped. So, after doing some research it looks like the ratchet driven types can be fairly dangerous (potentially), so I'm looking at something like the following: https://www.amazon.co.uk/Sealey-RE231-Spring-Compressing-Station/dp/B000RO7VI8 Anyone got any experience of the above or similar on a VW and specifically a Corrado? FYI, this is the type of kit I'm a bit concerned about using: http://www.halfords.com/workshop-tools/tools/hand-tools/laser-coil-spring-compressor Cheers

Not surprised Jim after reading your thread, can understand. Hope you find something else to fill the void or simply just enjoy all the extra free time. Learnt a lot from your comments and threads over the last few years.

£350 for the stainless steel one sounds reasonable considering OEM was £300. I have no idea for aluminium, say £400 - £450? Cheaper the better, but Quality is most important (would pay for quality) This would be for a VR6

Hi Anna, Mine is also beginning to rust into oblivion and would be very interested. All second hand versions seem to be in a similar condition.

What he said ^^ there are parts of my job I love , parts I hate. Doing it for 8 hours 5 days plus a week kind of kills all the joy. Im an office worker . Probably why I love messing with cars in free time as it's so different . If I was working on Ford focus es all day working the flat rate system I'd probably get bored and not fancy working on my own project s I understand wanting to change career though , sometime it's just what the brain needs .

Indeed, as it's free i may as well! Cheers Harrier

Hi Guys, Anyone used this tester on a VR6: http://www.halfords.com/workshop-tools/tools/hand-tools/laser-compression-tester Got some Halfords vouchers you see :) Failing that, anyone got any recommendations? First time I've done this on any vehicle. I'll also be after a coolant sniff tester.

VR6: Does oil look like head gaskets gone? Engine running rough
Erallus replied to Erallus's topic in Engine Bay
Update, Its a bit more quiet now, however, got some thick looking mayo on the oil filler cap. All I've been doing is getting it up to 70 - 80c by letting it idle to flush the cooling system. I'm going to do a compression test and then a sniff check on the new coolant thats gone into it. Concerned the head gasket has gone. -
Lol! Do you have a link to the sit ?

I see it didn't sell for £1,250.00. Have to say, if it was complete, I may consider it. Red interior for my Red Corrado :) Actually just spotted its an early interior

Here's his thread: http://www.the-corrado.net/showthread.php?1927-Majik-s-G60-(revised) No pics unfortunately

Hi all, After putting the key in the ignition, what sounds like the aux water pump (coming from right side of engine), is making a terrible grinding noise (sounds like bits have broken off and are moving around inside it). Based on the first post in this amazing thread, I'm looking for this part b251965561B. I'm ordering from VW heritage as I have some nice vouchers. :thumbleft: Anyone else used the following part for a VR6: https://www.vwheritage.com/shop/251965561B/water-pump-additional-electric-t4-golf-corrado/ Cheers

A shame Audioscape vanished off the face of the earth. Never realised how rare they are nowadays. Not sure I like those new ones. Someone would no doubt make a few quid if they could come up with an alternative or replacement

Great advice cheers, looks like an interesting procedure to reset/re-learn ecu. Never knew you had to do this . Explains a lot: http://wiki.the-corrado.net/vr6_ecu_reset_procedure.html -

Cheers, it just looked a bit thin/light to me, but never seen this oil before (first time I serviced it myself). Good to know its okay :) Slight hissing when i put the cap back on, after filling it up (with pure water and coolant flush) The battery has been disconnected for over a year, so that probably explains that :) I'm really impressed it started up first go with the fluids and service items changed. Doesn't have tax or MOT, so I'll be driving it up and down the access road to get it to re-learn . Can probably do 5 mph tops on the . Cheers for your help. -

Hi all, Do you think this oil looks like it may have coolant in it? Just put the oil in the car, its the Quantum silver stuff (worried I've also put too much in), been stored (sealed) in garage for about a year. I've included a video of my engine running, sounds really rough, done the following: Changed oil Air filter Ran water and coolant flush through system (hence brown colour) Not touched the spark plugs. Hi Tan, Think I saw you in your Rado a couple of weeks ago around Sandwell hospital area. Car looked nice, even though it was dark.
-
It certainly looks a bit pricey.

Excellent, thanks for the info.

Hi All, As per subject line, does anyone have any experience of the following parts: Sump https://www.vwheritage.com/shop/021103601B/oil-sump-2-8-2-9-vr6-engines-mk3-golf-corrado/ Gasket https://www.vwheritage.com/shop/021103609B Sump on mine looks rough and the gasket is letting oil out at the back (when on a hill)
