Sorry for the hijack I'm looking to replace some copper brake lines on my Corrado as one of the unions has been damaged trying to replace a stainless front line. I have never done this before so am a completenovice looking for some advice on a good quality flaring kit and a bending tool. Is it better to use kunifer rather than copper? stainless unions? Has anyone got any links or tips to offer before I commit to buying the gear and having a practice please? Many Thanks

I believe these were the last (late) versions of the cover as they were listed for the Golf and the Corrado by VW when they were still available. I bought one years ago when there were only four available, I never fitted it in the end and now lives in my loft
-
Yep Absolutely swore blind that they were original fitment
-
I've seen one person claiming that but if its true (which I doubt) there can"t be many

I had 312 mms fitted on teves 2.0 system I went back down to 288's as I felt that there was no discernible difference in stopping power but the weight of the discs and 16'" inch wheels on low profile tyres ruined the handling feel.

-
Well done Shaun, I'd be 99% sure thats the right kit, in fact I'm ordering a set now for a planned refurb of my 288's
-
Definately a measured 25mm
-
I have some nearly new abv passat b4 discs in my shed I could measure in a min Pretty sure etka online states they are 25mm though? Give me 10 mins
-
Top man I had a look around last night but couldn't find anything definitive. I can't imagine there being variation in such a widely fitted caliper though?
-
I think the op was struggling to I. D. the correct piston, he mentions being OK for the gaskets
-
I wouldn't pay any attention to the colour. That ate caliper was used on a wide range of vw, audi and skoda vehicles and I can't see there being too much variation in the 54 mm piston length/design. If it was me I would contact bigg red and ask him
-
Looks exactly the same as the ate 54mm caliper found on golf mk3, the cracked Etka online does not list the pistons as seperate components, frustratingly the ebay compatability checkers are pretty unreliable. I would contact Bigg red ltd for advice. http://www.ebaystores.co.uk/Bigg-Red-Ltd/Volkswagen-Caliper-repair-kits-/_i.html?LH_SellerWithStore=1&LH_TitleDesc=1&rt=nc&_fsub=187431018&_sasi=1&_sid=144806038&_trksid=p4634.c0.m14.l1513&_pgn=2

OEM part no is 3A0 615 123 and 3A0 615 124 (288mm x25mm ABS set up) found on many VW 5x100 set ups of that era
-
Aren't they just callipers for the standard 288 mm discs as found on golf mk3 vr's gti's etc?
-
It doesn't really need thinking about in my opinion Stainless straps that have been painted will eventually chip and mark Then you have a painted finish with shiny bits poking through It doesn't have to be rusty to look shabby
-
70l for late They're not blingy as they're only visible if you're under the car, I think chipped paint would eventually look a bit shabby
-
Ive had to pay on used USA Corrado steering wheels before
-
Would there not be a significant amount of import duty to be paid as well?

Re subscribed, thanks for keeping it going Toby
