I use PIAA glass cleaner,PIAA glass treatment,top it of wipers are the same make which are pre-coated bit expensive but IMO worth it got these from Burton:thumbleft:

years ago now i tried to change the filter these just twisted and were goosed,luckily VW still had them.they are a nightmare to change without damage maybe be a good group buy

i had this problem due to water getting into the back of the fuse box .this was on a 16v as above really need to take the undertray out ,check signs of water ingress
