I give up...it won't run, and I have no clue why not...

can you measure any resistance across any of its terminals? -

No spark - dizzy or colipack? Spark at dizzy centre lead or volts coming out of coil pack multi-pin connector? -

When you say you've got fuel at the rail I take you mean fuel under pressure? i.e. pump running OK? Can you get VAG-COM on it? -
Sorry but "Corrado" and "low running costs" are mutually exclusive! ;-) I did a quick calculation after my first year of Corrado ownership in Feb. and it didn't look too bad, but since then (as fate intervened!) I've had a knackered belt tensioner (car stuck on side of Motorway and RAC rescue ), front engine mount gone and engine hitting bonnet  and now sticking rear brake caliper.... However, I think everyone will agree, even as a fickle & fragile money pit, you wouldn't want to be driving anything else :-)

OK, the lowdown on the C&R MKII/III --> MkIV conversion kit is: Goodridge Stainless Steel Braided conversion hoses - £24 a pair Genuine VW MkIV calipers - £84.95 each P&P on a complete kit £10.95 (all inc. VAT) So roughly £205 for the whole lot. Oh, and this is an exchange price, I think there's an extra £50 surcharge if you don't send them your old calipers back... Interestingly the calipers are actually sourced from VW USA and still work out cheaper than VW UK

Just got out of the car to be greeted with the smell of over-heated brake pad :-( O/S rear wheel noticably warmer than the other side, so I'm guessing seized caliper. Anyone who's already done the MkIII/MkIV conversion got any part numbers? Just want to price up the bits individually versus C&R's kit... EDIT: (later) C&R's kit looks like it's just to replace the pre-92 Corrado's Mk2 style calipers with Mk3 items, but as I understood it post-92 Corrados already had the Mk3 Caliper anyway, so it's the Mk4's I want, inc. flexi hoses. - can't find mention of them on C&R's website...

just like they changed the design of the wipers and uprated the headlight loom wiring??? The arguement that "VW designed it that way so it must be right" just doesn't wash - wipers and light loom being 2 cases in point. If the Corrado had sold in mega-numbers when it was in production (or stayed in production a few more years...) then it may well have had more "product engineering" thrown at it, and we might well have seen different wipers and engine mount redesigns for the later models....

Judging by the amount of oil introduced into the intake since I plastic welded the breather valve back together, I was thinking of making an oil catch tank and plumbing it in somewhere here... like the one my mate's fitted on his prelude, some pics here http://exboyracer.fotopic.net/p3524694.html and here http://exboyracer.fotopic.net/p3524692.html

Sorry, couldn't resist...

The light grey bit in the pic. - looks like some sort of valve or sensor 'cos is has a connector that plugs up to it, but it's a just a piece of plastic - no contacts or anything in it :? It connects the rocker cover breather valve to the air intake between mass meter and throttle body.

Front engine mount gone! Nice egg in bonnet! Now fixed :-)

Would be easier than cleaning the rest to match the tensioner! -

New one in! Had to go OE for the time being... just not enough pennies for VT  The shot of the old mount shows some weird distortion on the metal top plate. All for the sake of an 88p bolt! -
Conrats mate! I must say that the birth of my daughter has to rank as the most amazing event of my life! :-)

I like the sound of that - sounds several hundred quid cheaper than a new bonnet :-) And the perfect excuse to go vibra-technics too :-) She's got to go back to the bodyshop anyway - the new bumper they fitted & painted last Oct doesn't seem to want to keep any paint on it :? -

Mount looks OK from peering down on it with the bonnet up - can't bring myself to investigate any further just yet  My wife & mum just don't get it - everytime something breaks on the Corrado they're like "Sell it! Old Car!" but you're right - a good blast in a C when everything's right and you soon forget all the bad times :-) -
Bo*ll*ocks! :-( As I was driving home from work this morning (worked nights last night) roads nice and quiet, took the twisty route home, ipod on, sun shining - beautiful drive - big smile on my face... Then - got about 1/2 mile from home, set off from a set of lights, and as I dipped the clutch to go into 2nd - THUNK - thought, "Hmmm didn't see that pothole", then a few seconds later as I dipped the clutch to change into 3rd, - THUNK - thought "Something's not right here...." - got that Corrado-sinking-stomach feeling :-( ... Got out the car to be greeted with nice dint on bonnet and immediatly sussed what the wallet emptying thunking noises were - front engine mount has given up the ghost and the engine's pinged the bonnet from inside (only 6 months old that bonnet too  ) ARSE! Bonnet doesn't look too bad TBH, but is it repairable?

You wrapped a bit of string around it?!?  Nearly... I couldn't find any string - so I folded up 2 pieces of A4 and selotaped them together to make a tape-measure!

Well, my scientific and extremely accurate measuring device reckons about 510mm should do it :-)

VR6 belt tensioner bearing replacement - how to.
stormseeker replied to PhatVR6's topic in Suppliers Forum
I'd be interseted in what you find :-) as you can see above, my old pulley's vapourised  I bought the new bearing 5 days  before my old tensioner bit the dust, so I have all the bits to make a new one except the pulley :-( -
Following an RS6 down a dual carriageway the other day, sticking with him through some traffic, waiting for him to boot it when the road was clear - so he did and we sprinted from aprox. 50mph to (private road speeds) - I was pleasantly surprised how he only got away from me by a few car lengths  thought the RS6 was the V8 turbo'd 450 BHP + similar lb/ft monster :? - I don't think he can have been trying (although the puff of smoke when he booted it made me think he was ? ) or the RS6 was ill ??? :?: :?
