I'd add quite a big bit as the heatshield stands some way off the cat, possibly another 200mm ???
-
ISTR 8.5mm-ish is about the max. you can get in...

:-) :-) :-) :-) That's the type of research I'd like to be doing ;-)

Should this thread be re-named "Corrado Spotting in Scotland"? Seems like that's where the majority of spotting actually goes on

stormseeker replied to phaserno1's topic in General Car Chat
My front end was totalled last Sep (new bonnet, wings, bumper, all lights, slam panel, rad + fans etc.) and still the car wasn't written off - £4500  total bill - so you should be OK. Not sure if they'll let you buy it back anyway - rules have changed lately... -
:?: Spencer? He's the car's owner, who posted a message on the Corrado-UK yahoo egroup/mailing list thing, I just copied it here
-
With apologies to Spencer, here's his full message copied from the Corrado-UK mailing list... ;-) ====================================================================== Hi all, It's been a while but finally my Corrado dragster made it's debut this weekend. I was racing the VWDRC (Volkswagen Drag Racing Club) Alternate Engine class for VW cars that have engines from non-VW makers (mine being a Chevrolet. I ran a best time of 9.21 @ 146mph (and it WILL go quicker) and not only did I qualify number one but won the meeting as well. It is also the first Corrado to win a VWDRC meeting. The car's next outing is at the Big Bang at Santa Pod at the beginning of May. Spencer :) ======================================================================

VW changed the design of the VR6 oil filter and housing after the Corrado had ceased production, so if yours has had to be replaced for whatever reason since then you will have the later style housing & filter, which typically are incompatible with the original type... just a point to watch out for :-) ;-)
-
I always fill the filter up with fresh oil before fitting it too ;-)
-
In my first post in this thread there's a word document with all DTCs in... (called something like "VW DTC list.doc" :-) )
-
Must've been a front end smash then - the slam panel's definitely been replaced - plastic bits are missing i.) to cover the exposed top RH corner of the Rad. and ii.) plastic flap in front of the airbox and behind the LH headlight and iii.) plastic cover missing where the LH bonnet catch/spring fastens into the slam panel... Means it might have had or need the front chasis legs jigged... all ammo for you if you want to persue it and make an offer...

I believe vr6storm has gone for a silver sparkle finish which I like the sound of (mince!) ;-)
-
My tailgate leaks, so my rear window is always misted up AND I've got the permanently misted up bits on the front screen - check your rear hatch for leaks ;-)

http://www.planetfall.com/~jeff/obdii/ An optoisolator, a couple of transistors..... Convert the 16pin plug to 2x2 with the diags below... and you're off!

Probably not actually putting them on my car! If I can get the bad wheel reliably repaired, or find another odd one to make a good set of 4 they'll be going straight back on ebay after refurbishment :-)
-
Just received my set of BBS Solitudes I won on ebay - 3 are a tiny bit tatty but one is badly damaged, it must have been kerbed quite badly (the seller blamed his Girlfriend!) about 12 inches along the very outer lip is completedly missing  - I'm not sure what's possible in the way of repairs or whether to ditch it completely :? I'm gonna get the good 3 refurbed, but the jury's still out on the 4th wheel :? Anyone know what's possible for a wheel repair? And any good recommendations for a company to do 'em? Got a decent set of Michelin tyres with 'em too, so I'm quite chuffed :-)

Some Merc vans have used the VR engine for years, as has the Ford Galaxy. I knew about the Galaxy/Sharan connection, but Merc Vans - never knew that! :?
-
Ahhh - Mow Cop - brings back memories of being driven up there in 1989-ish in a mate's Allegro  - nearly didn't make it up to the top :-) He had to keep changing down until we were chigging along in 1st... memories...

There's also a sneaky screw hiding under the speaker grille.... grille just clips off.
-
At the Dubsport RR day in Jan there was a Seat Ibiza TDi, which made 269lbft

Some good info in this thread: http://the-corrado.net/.archive/forum/viewtopic. ... sc&start=0

You can get much more power from a VR6 turbo, but you need serious ££££££ for the uprated internals and rebuild. http://www.stealthracing.co.uk/sr_pvr6.html Whether you'd be wise to put this much power through a FWD setup is another matter altogether :?:

Any more and you'll soon be able to start your own museum!
