Visible Differences between OE/SCHRICK/VW VSR manifolds
stormseeker replied to chargedupstorm's topic in Engine Bay
What about the differences between the OE manifolds? And also found this Nothelle branded VGI too???? Pictures shameless copied from http://www.locomail.com/niko/mycorradow ... rointakes/ - some serious intake manifold anorak-ing going on in there :-) -
added buttles & chargedupstorm to the main list.
-
...originally clipped on to the bonet stay. Part number is (HYC2) 021 012 213 if you're really interested but because it's made of plastic, a couple of goes and it's shagged.... :-(
-
OK, we know your cars, where did your names come from???
stormseeker replied to fla's topic in General Car Chat
I joined the forum before I had a Corrado, and at the time I was... errr... looking for a.... storm.... -
Anyone know if there's anything special organized for June this year - significant Corrado related date as it's the 10 year anniversary of the end of production? Just idly wondering if any of the German clubs/forums have anything special organized? ...mass trip to Karmann or VW's museum?

Haven't noticed anything, and in the last 2 years and one day since I bought the car it certainly hasn't been off.... :?:

Investigated the horrible scraping/grinding noise on RH lock at the weekend to find a whole load of play in the front o/s wheel bearing and seized wheel bolts (must've been getting quite warm   ) So, took it into local garage. They managed to get the wheel bolts undone ( :-) ) and told me that the wheel bearing nut was just loose  - they tightened it up, and they tell me there's now no play or noise on road test... Just a bit shocked on how it could've worked itself loose, and more scarily might it have fallen off  ??? What sort of retaining arrangement on the nut is there (bear in mind I haven't seen one as I couldn't get the b'stard wheel off!) - castleated jobbie & split pin???

Mods - can someone please move this thread into "Engine-Bay" or somewhere a bit more relevant then here? VAG-COM on the exterior???

stainless exhausts?? which one 4 a vr6??
stormseeker replied to matt_corradovr6's topic in Engine Bay
I thought you could fit and original system withpout dropping the axle? cut the pipe where it goes over the axle and fit a VAG OE sleeve joint? see http://the-corrado.net/.archive/forum/viewtopic. ... highlight= -
I saw a similar thing when I took my C into the bodyshop - only it was an argument between a Mondeo and a horse! The nearside of the Mondeo was completly panned in - the insurance assesor was nearly sick when he looked inside... horse guts everywhere...

at least my car looked good on the back of an AA truck!!
stormseeker replied to Rob_B's topic in General Car Chat
Ah ha! Wondered why the RAC man was looking underneath the back axle when my VR6 belt tensioner bearing gave up on the M57 in Feb. "Just checking it's not 4x4" he said... didn't think much of it at the time! -
So the RAC (DVLA based???) info. is at best inaccurate. The Horse's Mouth, I say, the Horse's Mouth... as in VW UK...
-
They won't tell you. They'll fob you off with some excuse like raising an enquiry with the DVLA or having to search through 1000s of records blah blah..... DVLA will be useless for tracing Storms as it's not recorded anywhere on the log book being a purely VW UK marketing "trick". They must have an electronic database within VW, if you call the UK customer service number with a VR6's Reg. no. they'll tell you within seconds if it's a Storm or not! It would be trivial to extract a list of Storm reg's and VINs. They're just being cute.
-
Somebody somewhere must have some contacts at VW's HQ (Milton Keynes???) who could run off some figures? I'm surprised the CCGB have never attempted this - or at least a register of Storm VINs, seeing as they were scattered all through the final year's production.
-
Say hello to boidy from me - I work with him. In fact it's old-style coupe-city in the car park here - my VR6, boidy's '94 FTO and exboyracer's '93 2.2 JDM VTEC 'Lude... :-)

Did anyone ever 'how to' D.I.Y. short shift????
stormseeker replied to mambomonkey's topic in Engine Bay
Not sure this qualifies as "easily" - this link is Japanese to English translated version... http://www.oichan.org/mods/in/shift/shorts_e.htm  Perhaps someone who's had the shift mechanism apart before might be able to understand it! -
na.............thats the one after........which for the life of me i can't remember what its called Soul Mining? or Mind Bomb?
-
Mine would be kevhaywire's engine/suspension in OSV's body/wheels.... ohh yeah and with phatvr6's gearbox :-)

3rd bonnet mod in less than 1 year! F**king LOWLIFE!
stormseeker replied to stormseeker's topic in General Car Chat
Hmmmm good point - I was thinking I'd be OK with my no claims being protected, but forgot about the possible premiums hike in future :-( :-( -
3rd bonnet mod in less than 1 year! F**king LOWLIFE!
stormseeker replied to stormseeker's topic in General Car Chat
Well the police forensics blokes came first thing yesterday morning and lifted the footprints from the car - they were a couple of top blokes, quite genuinely gutted to the see the Corrado in such a state. But they were perfectly honest about the chances of it going any further :-( but at least they've got the scrote's footprints, so if he ever does it again AND gets caught... then maybe.... :? As for the dint, I pulled it out from above with a sink plunger ( ) and gave it a gentle prod from underneath and it doesn't look as bad as it did, but still noticably rippled  - new bonnet here we come. My insurance excess will be £250, so unless I can source a late bonnet and get it sprayed for less than that it's off through the insurance... :? -

stormseeker replied to stormseeker's topic in General Car Chat
Hmmmm - I'm glad I didn't catch them at it TBH - the way I feel now I could be looking at GBH/murder charge! Forensics are coming tomorrow a.m. to lift the footprints, but as nobody witnessed it it's a bit hopeless. I'm gonna setup a road block and shoot everyone with matching footprints! In terms of the repair it looks like a new bonnet (again!) as the dint has actually buckled the structural ribbing under the bonnet (must've been a lardy a$$hole the jumped on it!)... another load of insurance excess money down the pan... B*ollox! -
Well, to say I'm angry is an understatement, I'm shaking so much I can hardly type! Just been out to the car to discover someone's done a Starsky and Hutch on the bonnet - footprints clearly visible in the dust on the car :-( :-(   (just to clarify, 1st bonnet mod was my fault (crash Sep. last year!) and 2nd was engine mount failure - what is it with this car and its bonnet?) The C was parked out on the road overnight as the Land Rover's clutch is knackered so it was occupying the C's normal spot on the drive (close to the house...) More deatils later when I cool down a bit. Police are sending forensics to get the footprints & dust for fingerprints but can't tell me when they'll be here (like probably next week after it's rained on the car!) F**cking Lowlife!

Front engine mount gone! Nice egg in bonnet! Now fixed :-)
stormseeker replied to stormseeker's topic in Engine Bay
UPDATE:- Just got the car back last week from the bodyshop again (managed to get them to accept that they should have checked/replaced the fr. mount last Sep. after my front end smash - got them to go 50/50 with me on the bonnet repair as they cheked with VW who told them that the mounts go regularly anyway) and the bonnet egg has now gone! The car had to go back in as the front bumper was peeling and there was some silcone contamination around the door handles - bad prepping on their part on both counts :-( But now at least the front end and doors are nice and smooth and shiny again... :-)
