  1. From what I can make out from ETKA, up to chasis no. 50-R-000898 VR6 top mount is 1H0 412 341 and chasis no. 50-R-000899 and on it changed to 357 412 341 A
  2. Hmmmmmmmm, I'm wondering if the engine was changed early in the car's life under warranty or something? (Was "owned" by a dealer for the first few months of its life...) :?
  3. Little tiny dots about the size of a pinhole? I did this with my Pug 205 (D'oh :( ) - it's amazing how far those little tiny droplets travel in the wind - the only way I could get them off (without risking the paintwork) was to pick 'em off by hand  - get those fingernails ready....
  4. Just occurred to me as I saw a VR6 engine's number somewhere - mine's marked on the log book as ABV000000 - is that right :? Is there an actual serial number stamped on the engine itself anywhere? I thought it was a bit odd when I bought the car, but the HPI check brought up the same engine number too, and I never got round to hunting for a number on the engine itself... :?
  5. Anyone know the insurance loading if you declare a Schrick?
  6. Apologies if you already know this, but if you mean to remove the top plastic engine cover & HT lead guides the bit you want is known variously as XZN-8, "triple sqaure" or (12) spline bit in 8mm - I got one for 4 quid from local big trade tool supplies place. They sold 'em singly (Teng Tool ones) or they're in a Draper set with various other sizes...
  7. My '95 VR6 has a Scorpion 5000 system which was main dealer fit, branded "Volkswagen" and is still classed CAT1 ISTR some other talk of Sigma alarms being fitted to toher models? See http://the-corrado.net/.archive/forum/viewtopic.php?t=6712 for some more details...
  8. You've got properly engineered ones then! The cheap & nasty ones I've got only work one way... Good luck....
  9. In case the little RAC van that's towing it goes over 60mph
  10. http://www.shmoo.plus.com/LEDbulbs/ ;-)
  11. Yep - They're all supplied with only one bulb in. The unused light has no reflector in it, so may look a little darker that the RHS one...
  12. so where is this info from? http://www.corradoclub.co.uk/Models/29vr6.html I've had the GPS on in the way into work tonight, 2000 rpm on the tacho is actually 47mph, which as worked out with my wheel measurents and a 3.39 final and 0.84 5th to 2027 rpm so that's close enough for me! 3.39 it is then :?
  13. Was a freezing cold day (~4deg C ???) and although the car had been stood for a while getting water & oil temps up to temp, gearbox will have been pretty much stone cold... I'd like to take it back for another sesh after a good long blat to see if it's still 27%...
  14. On the journey home from work - 2000rpm is approx. 50mph, 2500 rpm is approx 100kmh in 5th Wheel rolling circumference measured at approx. 1.76m, gives a wheel rpm of 756 at 50mph, x 3.39 x 0.84 is 2157 engine rpm (should have had the gps on to measure true speed, speedo could be reading slightly over......
  15. 15 inch wheel alone is 38.1 cm which has a circum of 120cm, wheel and tyre must be at least 152cm ... :? :?: ( I'm guessing twice your 76cm -- Pi x d, not Pi x r ???) Which at 50mph or 22.22 m/s gives a wheel rpm of 877, which x 3.39 x 0.84 would give approx. 2500 engine rpm in fifth
  16. It was widely used on the Golf/Passat/Transporter etc. - I'd be suprised if it's not available somewhere... you just need to know what it's called... The later one used in the ads is called "VAG Rundschrift" - http://www.myfonts.com/fonts/urw/vag-rundschrift/ EDIT: that http://www.myfonts.com/ site has a "whatTheFont" section where you can upload images of single letters and it tries to match them to its database of fonts - anyone got a "Corrado" logo gif/jpg to cut up & upload?
  17. Yep - you're right it is CHN - it's on the sticker in the boot :-) So, if ETKA's to be believed the ratios are as above then... i.e. 3.39 final drive???
  18. According to ETKA CHN ratios are 33/10 = 3.30 35/18 = 1.94 34/26 = 1.31 30/29 = 1.03 31/37 = 0.84 Final 61/18 = 3.39 Doesn't look like CHN is a VR6 'box ?
  19. 20. 1st click = sidelights 2nd click = sidelights + dipped beam ( just to confuse things further - If Dim Dip is fitted & working then with the ignition on 1st click gives you sidelights + half brightness dipped beam - designed of some sort of "safety" feature that meant you couldn't drive the car on sidelights alone)
  21. That's quite normal :-) You can see the fog pattern, 'cos they throw the light wide & low, to illuminate the edges of the road. It's just that now with an uprated loom on the headlights, the difference isn't as noticeable but it's still there... ;-) I ended up with the "Ring" wiring for the dipped beam, but a different relay (with in built fuse holder) and I made my own loom for Main Beam, and earth for both main & dipped. Just checked too - both the fog lamp bulbs and the main beam centres are H3... ;-)
  22. Since the restraining order came into force and I'm not allowed to stalk her anymore I've replaced all 12 discs with MoS chillout discs to try and calm myself down a bit...
  23. I find now that I've uprated my headlight loom it's difficult to tell if the fogs are on or not just by looking at the road when the dipped beam's on... You can get 30% brighter Xenon type bulbs for the fogs (can't remember if they're H1 or H3) from halfords - I'd give them a go first before thinking about a loom upgrade...... ;-)
