  1. ok. so last tuesday driving not to hard. and the chatger belts snapped. car went very quiet and slowed down. ran ok thou. pulled over. poohed myself a little. thought the crank bolt had snapped.. opened bonnet. tooth belt wrapped round in half.

thought , drive home . forgot it also drove the water pump and alternator. water temp went to 120 ish- off scale norm 70 80. oil temp went to 105.- always low. norm 70 80.. stopped after 1.5 miles for 10mins to cool car off. home only 3 miles away.

replaced belt next day. also had a look in engine. water bit low and obviously had boiler over a little. so i topped up. about 1L

also noticed my dizzy bolt loose. fiddled withe dizzy and tightened.

drove the car tonight. first time since. bit low on power. and loads of steam blueish smoke behind me.

checked engine over, nothing spilling or out of place. removed oil filler cap. loads of steam. oh pooh.

    have i...

    a) warpped my head

    b) cracked a cylinder or

    c) and i hope it's this one. is the timing out creating low power and excess water in exhaust

    please be gentle .

i suppose a pressure test would also be a good idea.

  2. Charger rebuilt 20k ago.

Already checked throttle cable, but I'll check again to see if its slipped since I re-attached it after servicing.

I'll see if I can get it plugged into vagcom to check the sensors, im friendly with a guy who used to own the local VW dealership and he just so happens to have taken the equipment to his home garage when dealership changed hands.

Exhaust is slightly leaking where downpipe meets middle system, so I'll pop round ATS and get a mate to sort that too.

erm g60's dont have vagcom. you'll have to do it the old fanshioned way.. check or replaced the coolent temps sensor check the knock sensor.- remove it and inspect for any damage on the lead. also check or change the lamda, and boost leaks. also check the exhaust. is it sooty or clean.?? if it has a leak b4 the lamda it will thinks its running lean and dump fuel in

if it has the cam belt changed recently. check its position. very easy to be a few teeth out. and then check the timming with a light. think it's 8' btdc with the blue temp sensor disconnected.

  3. will g60 drive shafts fit into vr6 cv joints. ? only im changing over to 5 stud.

so i've got new vr6 cv joints and 5 stud hubs. bearings. i'm now thinking that if my g60 shafts wont fit the new cv's. i'll have to go get shafts.

    shafted.?

  4. i fitted gsf ones and they lasted untill i put the car back on the floor. they just sank in and snapped. now i use the vr6 ones. i'm running koni coilovers. no probs. just get the kit, inc top plate . if in doute speak to steve at vw enterprise. number in mags.

  5. My g60 sits at 2500 revs when doing 80mph, can anyone suggest why that is?

As far as I know the gearbox is standard

    Anyone? :(

unlesss the box has been swapped over for a tdi box, checked the box codes. also perhaps the gearbox speed sensor is wrong for different?

  6. if your looking to up-grade on the g60. look out for the ibitza cupra r kits. comes with brembo 4 pots 308mm discs and pads. kits go on ebay for 350 ish. fits straight on the g60 hubs. just need some hoses to fit. but you'll need at least 16" wheels and you'll need to check the et of the wheels to clear the 4 pots. or fit spacers. excellent bit of kit. i've been using mine for nearly 3 years. superb.

  7. if the sns chips which are designed for the redtops 305cc.

so if i'm running the motorsport greys which are 328cc. that may explain why it burns a bit rich.?

g-man. do you guys have the facility to change the pulse rates on the chips.?
