  1. you dont want the 20 non turbo. the gear is way too short. you'll be maxing out at 120. .. but you'll get there pritty quick.! and you dont have to swap the flanges over. i've been told.

    Q. if you were to get a 20vt box, what flanges do you need to put in. can't you use the flanges from the dead g60 box?

  2. i use aqua mist. well ..when it works.! definatle get an intercooler. dont get the jabba one, no doute it'll be pooh. and over priced for what you actally get., either get the golf g60 one,( some knocking about). usual price £300. or squeese in a merc transporter one. they go for £60 ish from breakers. and consider red tops. job done.

  3. you don't know the half of it, got the rear vibratech mount in to day and the water pump off.(thought might as well change it while i'm here, it's a bit of a bitch to get off otherwise.), want to get the charger mount acid dipped. coz it's rank looking. any ideas where thou.?

  4. well got it throu and had a look, and found it reduced down to 2", and the coupling looked pants, so i thought about getting that changed, they also welded the lamda boss on the side, when after fitting it all found the lamda wouldn't fit at all.(hit the tunnel) , so took it all off again, and had them send me a new boss and blanking plug. so got it all welded up using 2 1/4" tube and flexi and the boss on top., went to fit it tonight, thought i better test the lamda, to make sure its smooth. and it got jammed good and proper. in fact i had to smash the lamda to get it out, and it had stripped the thread off.  so i thought i'd try the blanking plug they supplied, and it did it to that too. well cheesed off, you'd thought some one like TSR would send the right boss throu, i'm going to phone them tomorrow, ask for a new boss and lamda sensor. !!

  5. well funny you should mention that, i'm a gas engineer, specialise in heating, but could do the plumbing for a bathroom no probs, don't do tiling thou. has any one put one of these boxes on a g60 before, i'll get some pics of the box and flanges ect.

  9. doof, 0-60 times on a G60 are seriously hampered by a crap 2nd gear meaning you need 3rd to hit 60... I got my gearbox rebuilt using a VR6 1st and 2nd gear so that 2nd is longer (hits about 64 now) so managed a measured 7.02 seconds 0-60 in the wet at Bruntingthorpe yesterday... I could probably get it a bit quicker in the dry now that I know how my car handles and reacts a little better now... 8)

A normal G60 box would have added on 1 or 2 seconds to that time... :|

well actually henny, i have a standard gear box on my g60 and in the wet ,on the same day, i got almost the same times as you, in fact my 1/4 was better, .. :p

  10. i had the same problem with my golf 1800 gl, and the only real cure is a weber 32/34 carb, you can piss about changeing the setting and adjustmens on those carb allday, and the next time it's cold it'll still rev to 2500 and stay there till its red hot, honestly, get the weber, not only do you get BETTER eco but much better performance,.
