  1. The A-Team 6/10 Not a bad movie but didn't blow me away.
  2. I swapped my 16v Corrado for a facelift Leon Cupra three years ago and it's been almost perfect. There have been no build quality issues at all and the only thing that's failed is the same plastic waterpump that fails across the entire VAG range. It's been mapped to stage two for two and a half years of my ownership and is still on the original coilpacks at 57k miles. There's definitely room in my life for another Corrado but while I only have the desire for one car it's going to be the Leon every time. Even with just over 240bhp it still uses less fuel than my 1.8 16v Corrado did. All I will say though is the handling is pretty awful as standard. The Cupra R is probably a fair bit better - I don't know as I've never driven one. I agree that it's not the most exciting car to drive though and is only a bit better if you're making the most of the power. It'll never feel as cool as a Corrado.
  3. ...and he ran it over for good measure! Turbos look ok though. Sorted.
  4. really? How bad is the a3 then for economy? It seems like even on a run he's never seen 25mpg. However, he is 22 with 250bhp so that's hardly surprising. I don't think the economy would put me off the A3 if that's what I wanted, but I do appreciate a turbo-charged engine these days.
  5. A workmate of mine is now selling his 2004 A3 3.2 for a 2005 Golf GTi. The A3 makes my Leon seem like an economical runabout.
  6. I think the problem is the rear brakes heat up while driving. When you stop and pull on the handbrake you apply pressure but only until the brakes cool and contract slightly. The handbrake then loses pressure and off goes your car. As previously mentioned, the best solution is to leave the car in gear when parked.
  7. Blimey. It seems like forever that I last saw your name on here! Welcome back :salute:
  8. It's just a regional thing. For some reason we measure our fuel's resistance to pre-ignition as RON and in the USA and Canada they use AKI or Anti-Knock Index. AKI is an average of the RON and MON (research and motor octane number) methods.
  9. That's 91 AKI which equals 95 RON. It's the same as regular unleaded in the UK. Super unleaded (98 RON) is 93 or 94 AKI.
  10. Nice. I cleaned my car once; didn't enjoy it one bit :gag:
  11. I'm sure I'm not the only one who had no idea what 'Lax Muppet' referred to when I clicked the link either. What's worse than one badly titled thread on a subject likely to get repeated? You got it....two badly titled threads on a subject likely to get repeated.
  12. You're probably right. I can't speak for the entire biking community. There are loose cannons out there in cars and on bikes alike.
  13. Nice generalisation. I regularly follow bikers that are happy to sit with the traffic. Not all two-wheeled pilots have a death wish; some are just looking to get to work, etc. Personally, I ride a bike because they're way more exciting than cars. Part of that is the ability to make progress in traffic. I'm not daft enough to be 'up the arse' of the car in front though. There's really no need when you're on something that accelerates like even an averagely powerful bike does.
  14. P'boro is about 100 miles from here but there's a good chance I can make the trip. I should be able to bring a few mates too.
  15. Your link is broken.
  16. I found a way to remove mine easily. It involved smashing a Corsa up the backside though, so should probably only be used in cases of extreme emergency.
  17. So, is that basically an S3 with different clothes on? I really like the look of the front.
  18. It just cost me £1.25 per litre to fill my car up with V-Power. Pass me the Duracell!
  19. It sucks that your mate got no justice, but that doesn't change the fact that you got caught breaking the law. More power to you if you manage to win against 'the system' and all that but, I have to say, I agree with Jim. I imagine few people here are whiter than white and many have had our fair share of police attention in the past. Getting nicked for something you haven't done is one thing, but admitting to breaking the law then looking for support in trying to justify it is a bit lame.
  20. Not if it's an engine with a cylinder-head developed by Cosworth. It still has links.
  21. Jesus. I thought my Leon was quite thirsty but it's positively frugal based on these figures!
  22. Fanatec prices: http://www.fanatec.de/webshop/new_eu/index.php?cPath=21
  23. Looks like fun! Probably not likely to win any style awards though :)
  24. Good effort, but the thing I like most about the LMs is the lack of the centre cap. I think it gives them a stripped-out racey look. Adding the centre cap instantly makes them look bland and nothing special, in my opinion. Well done for finding a centre-cap that fits though :)
