  1. Andy, I've got an original black leather gaitor (complete with silver "karmann" badged black surround) & black leather gear knob from my H reg 16v which I swopped for a similar later set-up. All in very good condition, £20 + P & P (probably about £4), if you are interested send a pm or email.
  2. Jan- my next step would be to take your car to a good mechanic as there are safety issues & it needs to be sorted before something nasty happens. Maybe change the fuel filter just in case. If the problems started after it was serviced perhaps the garage messed something up-possibly mixture?
  3. Jan- fuel filter maybe, when was it last changed? My (Passat) Haynes manual also suggests it could be-Fuel leak, cold start valve faulty, mixture setting incorrect (where applicable) or fuel pump. Good luck. Steve :thumb right:
  4. Maybe the geezer on the assembly line thought he'd 'av a larf & stick his chewing gum on the back of all the switches.
  5. Most "insurance" companies are great at taking your money & trying to get your business but when it comes to paying out do they suck or what? My pet hate is Norwich Union, I've tried to make a few claims with them in the past & they always quote the small print to avoid having to pay a penny. When you phone them they seem to reach for their little secret book of how to shaft the customer, no wonder some people try to get even by being a bit imaginative with their claims. :salute:
  6. Slimbo-Don't think Batman will bre too chuffed tho', probably go round & kick their lights out :batman:
  7. Congratulations, I've got a 1.8 valver, eats G60's & VR's & spits out the chewy bits, no! It's meant to have 136 bhp (3 less than a mark 2 16v Golf for some reason), 0-60 in about 9 secs. If you want the best out of it rev the b******s off it after the oil has warmed up & run it on Optimax super unleaded. I've got a K & N panel air filter too which may help a bit, it costs about £40 & drops straight in. I've had my 16v for about 4 years & I still smile everytime I get behind the steering wheel. Take it easy though especially to start with. Any other info needed put on another post or send me a pm or e-mail. 8)
  8. Great site, very professional & I thought I was a Corrado geek!
  9. My pet hate are the idiots who pace me for a couple of miles on the motorway at say 80 (ish), when I pull over into a slower lane for them to pass with me then behind say an artic. & starting to close rapidly on it they just close the gap in the outer lane & do not give you room to pull back out again, meanwhile I've had to break like ****! Makes you just want to stay in the fast lane doing 95-100+ like some seem to get away with doing all the time.
  10. A friend of mine also got caught recently doing 60 on a 40 on a nice long straight road in broad daylight, luckily he got off as he had an imaginary friend visiting from overseas whose details he gave & was of course driving at the time. If you have a relative abroad who is prepared to take the rap they have got to take your word for it that they were driving unless they go to the trouble to check the photo & it looks nothing like you. Does Plate/Photo Blocker spray work?

    space savers

I have seen a 15" 4 stud space saver from a late mark 2 Golf GTI on ebay a few months ago. I've also read but don't know if it's right that you still get a hump (oh err, missus! from a spacesaver) in the boot. Suggest you try to find one in a breakers, this will probably be even rarer than finding a Corrado at a breakers, good luck.
  12. As an Exonian & a forum member I visited Kynaston Auto Services today. I can honestly say I have never heard anything bad said about them, where do you negative types get your opinions from without even having been there? Anyway there were 8, yes 8 Corrados for sale, mainly 16 valves, 2 G60's & a (factory) purple metallic automatic VR6. All were well prepared & desireable. I spoke to the salesman (Steve) who like me is a Corrado enthusiast. For information the boss (Paul Kynaston) there competes successfully in a Sunbeam Tiger in Classic Rallies, the workshop was tidy & housed a beautiful BRG E- type. I suggest that if you are in the area & are looking for a Corrado you call in to view their stock, or phone them on 01392 214850.
  13. CIPO-I had exactly the same situation & the problem was sorted when the hub (& front wheel bearing) was replaced, somebody calling himself a "mechanic" had caused the old hub to be damaged by careful use of a hammer-won't be going back there again! 2CC has already given very similar advice.
  14. I've been told by a friend that Cofton in Marsh Barton are good. For small repairs ! (to my C) I go to the Plastic Surgeon also in Marsh Barton. Suggest you go to Cofton & have a look around.
  15. I had major probs. with no heat coming thro', after major hassle it turned out that the black plastic heater by-pass valve had been fitted the wrong way up!
