Got to get this off my chest- 10 police employed on local "speed" traps. On Monday this week there were 10 (yes 10) cops "employed" locally at one location cracking down on hardcore criminals (ie motorists) doing slightly more than 30 mph, luckily I was not one of those caught but surely there are more pressing things for them to attend to? Last night I watched crimewatch- perv bloke hitting a girl repeatedly with a lump hammer & mucho other violence. The previous night (Sunday) a student was struck twice in a local Pub by a bloke with a machete. Read in the national paper about a kid getting killed by a moron with no licence, insurance etc & he gets 12 weeks, all this stuff makes me want to weep. As I see it the sentence has to fit the crime & the police need to wake up & their resources be used more sensibly.

That raddo kicked his a* s, sweet

My W reg V5 (2.3) G*lf gives about 23 mpg round town, so I'd expect a VR6 to "squeeze out" about 20 mpg. When I get the chance for it to have a good run I assume/hope I will get closer to 30 mpg at a steady 90 :norty:

congratulations- I've gone green, sounds a real peach mate. If she was mine I'd think about keeping it standard or close to it, especially in the handling/suspension dept. but on saying that most/all standard VR's look like they've got too much gap above the rear tyres :agrue:

Used to be that 2 quotes were needed from *reputable* body shops, sounds like she's trying to rip you mate, maybe she's got her eye on an even more fancy fester (sorry fiesta) & thinks you're going to help pay for it. Best to keep it polite when dealing with her, as it sounds like you were at fault maybe cheaper for you to pay for damage after she has got a sensible quote rather than get the insurance t*ssers involved. Good luck.

P*icks that hog the outside lane really p*ss me off, whether they do it on purpose or because they are completely cr*p drivers needs to be established, personally I think the cops should also have pulled him/her over & found out what they- the "hogger" was doing. In my opinion they are potentially causing others to drive dangerously by not pulling over & should be told that they do not own the road :2gunfire:

Yes, even the "humble" early (pre facelift ) 16v could be "specced up" with leather but it was an expensive option, I've seen a few (valvers & G60's) with factory leather & it looks very similar to the late spec leather bar the door handle & electric mirror control positions. As for the pros & cons of G60 & VR- best left to the respective owners & previous posts to decide/advise you. :notworthy:

No worries on that score here, but it was sunny yesterday about 10 degrees C & I was able to walk about in shirtsleeves. Saw a young bloke in Sainsbury's today in a pair of shorts & flipflops-think he must just have got off a plane from Oz or NZ, either that or he'd lost the plot! UK-Optimax + cool air = a more responsive engine & the tarmac does'nt stick to your wheels. Still I'm sure some of the "views" on the beach there would more than make up for it being a bit on the warm side.

pacificshack- enjoying the photos- corrado & the scenery & admire your determination :notworthy: in running a scarce car in NZ. I also read that the only places the "dirty" valvers were sent to was the UK & Italy so VW must have thought the Kiwis were dirty b*stards too  Any idea how much money I would have to scrape up to emigrate to New Zealand?

Blimey, got to be worth a look espech. with that low mileage, 'ave it.

Welcome to the forum mate-the ultimate source of Corrado wisdom & knowledge :notworthy:

I'm going to change my username to - hot & do I look bovvered? :cuckoo:
-
A nice hat on the rear shelf would also help send out the right image, Austin Allegro stylee, people may even offer to help you out of your car & across the road too, if the corrado style police don't bust you first. :pukeleft:

Would this stuff be in the "legendary" Bentley manual in great detail ? Not that I have one.
-
Stay off the beans ! :gag:
-
Most corrado owners probably by now have 2 keys-1 ignition & 1 for the driver's door, bit late now but at least you won't be in a hurry to fix it again will you? May be easiest just to buy a new handle from VW. I'm sure there will have been similar posts in the past re. this you may want to check before getting new handle. PS- hope the Mrs doesn't catch you first :pale:

The Clio looks gay & both pictures of it made me snigger. :gag:

Yeah, drive faster :norty: , but seriously never had that problem, try adjusting the angle of the mirror unit slightly- may help.

right the valver "nut"/(geek) :study: has arrived, the 2 litre golf engine you refer to was fitted to the mark 3 golf & the VW :notworthy: engineering boys spent some serious time developing the engine to give approx 150 bhp, the same 2 litre 16v was supposedly going to be fitted to the then current raddos but this never happened & I believe the raddo had to soldier on with the old 2 litre Passat motor it had enjoyed previously. Not a bad engine but the 150 bhp golf 3 motor would have been better- presumably cost is what prevented this being done.

I would be a mechanic but don't think I could put up with burning my hands, getting covered in oil, skinning my knuckles & having to work to tight deadlines & dealing with sh*te design/access problems etc etc on a daily basis, of course some people might actually enjoy all this & some would even pay to experience it :nurse:

grow up guys just let the little pr*cks get on with it, I've overtaken some blokes in the past just to prove a point & nearly sh*t myself when i've nearly wrecked the car. Like a gunslinger there's always somebody faster than you, or more determined to race & win. I know sometimes you can't stop yourselves but most of the time it's best just to chill & enjoy driving/riding in a great car & let the pl*nkers try to kill themselves racing somebody else. if it's safe maybe go for it if in doubt don't. :infinity:
-
Like the good doctor says could just be the pump- if not why not try to source a crashed G60 with a good motor & swap it over. At least get a 2nd opinion preferably from a corrado friendly garage & check out similar posts on the forum before you get too down. Good luck.
-
glad to hear it mate, agreed you have to search round to find a place where your car actually comes out running better than before you took it there. Normally you book it in & they may do some work + put a few new dents/scratches on it as well.

3 batteries in 3 years, seems like there's something drawing current with the engine off, I'd take it to a good auto electrician to check out, I suspect that's it's likely to be "connected" :gag: to the ICE install.
-
Kris- does sound like the battery, I would replace it with a new heavy duty decent quality (Bosch/Varta) one and see how it goes. Good luck :viking:
