they get rid of the static ones cos' nearly all the locals know where they are but the mobile ones are serious money grabbers & the evil/greedy bounders know all the "best" sites to maximize the take. S'funny- they evetually hanged Dick Turpin for highway robbery

Now that's what i call a good boss, presumably he pays you loads of money (beaucoup de l'argent) too? :study:

Yeah, the Mustang/s in Bullit looked stock whereas "eleanor" looks too modern, like it's trying too hard. I'd love to have a Bullit replica maybe it would get a pasting from scoobies & evo's on the twisty bits but just listening to that V8 woud have me grinning from ear to ear :usa

only from the passengers

did'nt get it done on mine but I think if you always run on optimax it may be beneficial, don't know if there are any downsides to trying it, best to read up on it first. An ace VW mechanic (if you can find one) would know.

Jay- personally I'd take the chance to drop in a "K & N" panel filter in the standard airbox housing & get the garage (assuming they know what they are doing) to tune it for optimum running. If you run your valver on optimax may be worth advancing the ignition a bit too. If you don't fancy doing this just get it checked out that everything is OK & put some good quality oil in with the new filter. May be worth getting the fuel filter & spark plugs replaced too. With regards to the suspension just get it checked that the bushes, alignment etc is OK. I used to have a '90 valver so assume the ignition advance etc would apply to the 2 litre.

Search on google- "VW racing" + "logo" then go to images, some on there. :notworthy:

personally I woul'nt bother replacing the foam, some t*at mechanic always manages to rake it with the bonnet stay :D anyway & it then starts looking like the moths have been at it.

Your determination is admirable, both great looking cars, well done :thumb right:

Whats the best way to blag stealer discounts?
crdo16v replied to Ice White Socks's topic in General Car Chat
I remember that a fairly recent issue of "The Sprinter" (Corrado Club mag- for those who don't know  ) had an article saying that they had negotiated a discount with VW but you had to quote a code or summat & not all dealers would participate in the scheme. Maybe someone from the forum could get heavy/friendly with VW UK & cut forum members a deal, surely the forum is the same as a club or maybe not. Happy hunting :brickwall: -
I think the "special VW adjustment tool" is a bit of a legend, whenever you mention it at a VW dealer or to a VW specialist mechanic they just look at you as if you've asked them about the whereabouts of El Dorado or how to crack the enigma code (yes, I know it has been cracked but you get the picture). I reckon if the dealer ever had them they either chucked it out years ago or it is locked deep in their vaults & has to be signed for in triplicate before it can see the light of day. :study:

Over 3 years old the thread start! Yoda-does anyone else speak? 0X

Welcome to the forum Steve, I've got a full set of the Petrol (black/green) seats for sale if you are interested & yes I can confirm that the other 2 you describe are a lot harder to find. Send a pm if you are interested in my seats. Cheers.

i got lost in there somewhere mate, I dunno wot to suggest
-
I always go into the trade counter at my local dealers- Mann Egerton, Exeter, the parts guys are good blokes & I always ask for discount- they know if you've got a raddo that they will be seeing you again  & are happy to help keep a good car on the road.
-
my bad- glanced at it quickly (for some reason) & thought it said dealer rather than retailer- rest assured I will severely punish myself for this mistake. And remember beauty is in the eye of the beer holder.
-
They look tragic imho. :censored: Dealer? they don't sell stuff like that.
-
Gaz-at the risk of stating the obvious suggest you or he does some internet searching, or buy a good air cooled mag from a newsagent. I think Karman Konnection specialize in some hard to get hold of stuff for the good ol' air cooled veedubs. 8) Personally I love the old buses & would like to own one but it's the usual story- no cash to splash Ooops, nearly forgot my favourite.......... ebay :thumb right:

I assume it is no longer available from VW in which case I would get a good trimmer to make some up from your old carpet or find a good set probably from a late raddo in a breakers. I will speak to the trimmer who does work for me & advise further in a week or so, he should know 'cos he is based at an independant VW dealer. Cheers.

Thanks for the comments guys, I realize the police have a tough job to do, but I feel that they are becoming more & more alienated 0X from the majority of generally decent folk & losing touch with our idea of reality which is a great shame for us & them. :lcop:
