  1. does the fact that a vr6 has not had the chains done effect the selling process that much? your opinions would be gratefully received please guys, as some of you are aware i am in the process of getting my storm ready to sell, and she has not had chains replaced, so taking this into consideration i am reflecting the fact that she has not had the chains done in the asking price, i am unable to do this myself and to be fair with a job that huge, professionally replaced is the only way to go with my girl, but its soooo expensive, is it a cost i should just go for to help me sell her? and if i did then she would be up for sale at £9-10k instead of £5-6k as she will be the only mystic blue storm in fantastic condition for sale in the UK at the present time what do i do?:scratch:

    Wanted Head Lining

hmmm the dreaded headlining!!!! i think you will really struggle to find an original headlining (second hand anyway) that's decent enough to put on as a replacement for yours, and as we all know that once you start fixing or replacing one thing on a 20yr plus car you very often end up creating more work, i removed my headlining as i was fed up of feeling like i was driving around with a parachute attached to me and now the time has come to replace it as im getting her ready to sell, ive found a little gem near where i live, a guy that has specialized in classic car trimming for 40 yrs (the 1950's rolls that he had just finished looked mint!!) and he is going to replace my headlining (standard original colour) supply and fit for £150 hence she is booked in for 2 weeks time!! i suppose that if i wasnt replacing it in order to make her look as mint as i can then i might be brave enough to have a go myself (maybe) anyway wendy good luck i hope you find a gem like i did
  3. ha ha ha bring it on!!! if thats the only storm i will have to compete with then im laughing all the way to the bank:cheers:
  4. glad i followed my heart then and left my beauty well alone she is 100% standard

  8. hi all i seem to have taken leave of my senses and decided its time for me to put my girl up for sale, (no more ear splitting smiles and pure fun for me ) so before i depart i would just like to say what a fab, friendly informative forum this is and worlds apart from others i have had the misfortune of joining although i don't post very often i do sign in now and again and have regular updates from my boyfriend on whats going on and the amount of knowledge and advice etc is second to none, in fact i think if you cant find an answer on here then the problem probably doesn't exist. i may call on you now and again as i am still gonna drive a v w (old one) and i'm sure i'm going to come across problems that you lovely peeps can help with keep up the good work guys :thumbleft:

  11. hmmmm think you are right there!!! your g/f would definitely only drive her storm to a show!!!! lol, i love your new (old) valver but...... its not mine, and the drive, feel and beautiful sound that comes from my vr6, is way too tempting, and she would have to be first choice lol xxx
  12. hi do you have the rear bumper? and if so can you send me pic please? thanks, em
  13. hi and welcome :thumbleft: i too have a mystic blue storm, i hope that once shes had tlc and shes up and running that you enjoy as much as i do!!
  14. hi guys not really sure where to post this thread as it concerns both exterior and interior but here goes! yesterday i opened my sunroof (FULLY WORKING OR SO I THOUGHT!!!) after a rather nasty sounding crunch and a few obscenities, i realized that it was no longer fully operational, so after several times pressing buttons and praying, got out my rado to discover a rather wonky looking sunroof!!!! A call from my b/f later, (to talk me through how to remove the interior light and panel, and try to wind it down manually) which also failed, i was not a happy bunny, so i left it for my b/f to look at when he returned home from work. We discovered that it was actually the pulley on the passenger side, that had snapped off, hence it closing fully on the drivers side but staying put on the other side, nothing that could be done at that time so sunroof stayed open all night. dreading the visit to the mechanic and yet more money, i decided it was not going to beat me and armed with a flat head screw driver, a knife and a small hammer :bonk: i set to work!!! IT DID NOT BEAT ME  AND IS NOW CLOSED AWAITING THE BANKS COMPUTER TO SAY 'YES'. Here is how i did it: remove interior light and undo screws to remove panel, get the gadget to wind manually open to full tilt sit in passenger seat, facing the door, so you can see the mechanics inside the sunroof about half way along on the runner there is a screw if you place a flat head screwdriver in that screw at an angle tap gently with a hammer and it will start to move along the runner, bit by bit move it along as you wind the sunroof down manually, SLOWLY I MIGHT ADD! There is enough give in the interior trim around the sunroof opening to get the screw driver in and close the sunroof almost fully, well as good as its going to be i hope this helps someone, in their time of crisis and i will put pics for explanation soon :smug:
  15. hi harry_1 i brought my beautiful girl (1995 storm in mystic blue) last april for £3,840, with a spare full set of alloys and tyres thrown in. may seem expensive, but i was very lucky and she had had a complete respray about 12 mths before, and she was /is in fantastic condition, inside and out and under the bonnet ( but only time will tell as she has her MOT in 2 weeks, which i have to say is more nerve wracking than going to the dentist lol)she is standard and will remain so, planning new shiny bits and pieces for her under the bonnet etc, but leaving her looking and feeling as fab as she does now! my b/f has a 95 blackberry vr6 and tbh there isnt alot of difference when driving both are fab to sit in, drive in,( yes im very lucky that he lets me drive his treasured possession ) but i suppose its all down to personal taste and what you want, whatever you choose, you will enjoy
  16. glad you men make mistakes too!!! lol, im driving a car i dont know because ive given my b/f my rado to drive for the week, whilst his is having an operation at the car hospital, thats my excuse anyway and im sticking to it ha ha :smug:
  17. ha ha!! well what a coincidence, i got home last night and proceeded to ask my lovely b/f " where is the button for the petrol cap on that bloody polo?" (after having sat on the petrol forecourt at morrisons for 10 minutes trying to figure out how i get the damn thing open!) his reply was to lol and say " read these" which i did, well what a giggle we had, and how silly do i now feel? lol, i also have to agree with what most of you are saying, ( Kevin i will come back to bite you in the ass later!) and i cant deny that i have turned the air extremely blue on many occasions whilst criticising those '....ing women drivers' i usually pride myself on my driving skills and common sense, believe me when i say that i have put a few of you guys to shame when im flooring my beautiful girl  but i have to admit defeat and say that i have been completely baffled by a polo, and whilst im having a moment, i have to disagree with the saying that all hire cars are the fastest car in the world, they are not!! to all you decent lady drivers out there, go buy yourself a vr6 rado, listen to that beautiful noise as you put the pedal to the metal, you will never look back, honest! this is to my fab b/f .... morning handsome, ha ha yup you were right, i just pushed it in and the cap opened, now is it diesel or unleaded????????!!!!!! lol :bonk:xxxxxx
  18. hi dan have you got the windscreen by any chance? if so how much please? kind regards em
  19. hi i had the same problem and like you i had the coil pack changed and she was still unhappy, so i then had the cam sensor replaced and she now runs like a dream, give it a try :smug:
  20. hello and welcome peter enjoy  emma
  21. yay she is back on the road and all is well, it was the cam sensor causing all the problems, so new one put in and she is running like a dream, fab drive to work this morning!!! thanks to stone and si for all their help and advice em
  22. good morning si many thanks for your advice, its much appreciated and i will tell my mech today the parts you have mentioned, shes been on diagnostics a week ago but apart from the cam sensor, no other faults came to light!! there are also no warning lights apparent when driving her, (which at the moment i am not doing as unsure wether i will cause more serious damage if i do) so sad to see her sat there waiting to be collected once more by my mech, although not all bad as have the privilege of driving my boyfriends rado, :smug: hopefully her issue/s will be sorted soon:cheers: thanks em ---------- Post added at 6:58 AM ---------- Previous post was at 6:57 AM ---------- good morning si many thanks for your advice, its much appreciated and i will tell my mech today the parts you have mentioned, shes been on diagnostics a week ago but apart from the cam sensor, no other faults came to light!! there are also no warning lights apparent when driving her, (which at the moment i am not doing as unsure wether i will cause more serious damage if i do) so sad to see her sat there waiting to be collected once more by my mech, although not all bad as have the privilege of driving my boyfriends rado, :smug: hopefully her issue/s will be sorted soon:cheers: thanks em
  23. hi tim i have a vr6 storm with exactly the same issue as you have got, my mechanic had her for a week, he has replaced the coil pack and fuel filter, and when getting her back:scratch:, she drove fine for a day, then the same issue returned, leaving me slighlty sad to say the least :-(( and miffed as what it could be, thanks to si for the idea of fuel pump, will tell mechanic that one, but like you would like some help and advice, if anyone thinks it could be anything different i would be very grateful i hope we both get them sorted soon, i really miss driving her thanks emma:scratch:
  24. hello and welcome hope you enjoy her!!!:smug:
