Wouldn't be doc aka Wolfgang Zwiesler? Know quite a few of the Corrado Scene Süd folks from around Stuttgart and Karlsruhe (went to a meet there over Xmas in my G60 8) Tempest

Be very very wary of such kits on Ebay. I've often enough read of bad expereinces with those kits on the German Rado forum (often the apex seals are just simple piston seals or of similar material, NOT the required stuff for apex seals). Tempest

Just my 2 cents (again  ): As last year's Inters it was my first one, I already found it extremely commercial, dictatorial (got told off because a "non-approved" journalist was taking snaps of my Mk1 Rocco for future publication in the "wrong" magazine), and all much centred on the sprints and the trade stands, where the organisors make the real money. I must dmit that I quite liked the club stands though, nice and spaceous, hard standing etc. but possibly badly sign posted, as most people felt it was an extension to the car park. Compared to other UK shows, like the much more relaxed Edition 38 or VW Action, I liked it least of the shows I've been to last year. Tempest

Hey hey, another G60 guy !!  Right, when do we get a little Coventry meetup then? Dying to see yours, how about one evening this week? Tempest

As I already mentioned on another posting here, on the SciroccoWorld forum we have now seen the invitation letter. Apparently only those clubs are invited that were there last year. The plot is 10 m by 5 m, i.e. NOT large enough to stick on 5 Roccos, let alone 5 Rados  How on earth they came up with thatmadness is beyond me. They now want 25 Quid for the plot (compared to 20 Quid last year for a much larger plot, we had 10 Roccos on our stand, this year we're lucky, if we can get 2 on) for the weekend. Clearly, even though being a Dutch / European resident in the UK (and hence knowing the European show scenerey a little) and having found last year's Inters already ultra commercail by comparison this year's event seems to be taking the p*iss  More and more clubs are starting to think about boycotting the event, as it's the clubs and their stand that IMHO make the show. Anyway, Roadstar 2004, the Rocco/Rado event in the Netherlands from 14 till 16 May has its own thread here as well, looking for some more folks to join in (possibly along with me on my journey Harwich to Hook of Holland, going Wednesday 12/5, returning Sun 16/5). Roadstar is very much like VW Action, only even more relaxed and laid back, the way a show should be :D Tempest (enough ramble for 1 night  )

Stupid question: Where are they (Pitstop Developments) based? Tempest

GSF do a K&N panel filter as well, costs around the £43 mark, if memory serves me correctly. Tempest

Tempest replied to hustler's topic in Engine Bay
8J17s on the Rado, not lowered, no rubbing, all OK :multi: On the Mk2 Rocco I'm running 7J15, lowered a lot, rubbing on the front in tight corners, which needs addressing, On the Mk1 Rocco I've got 8J15s 50 mm spacers on the rear, and 30 mm on the front, uhm, yes the arches have been extended  Tempest -
Correct, spotted that as well, as there were 2 bhp missing in your spec list  , must be the US G60 then, (states 158 bhp in my very American manual, full of warnings about good driving, bad driving ...) Tempest

I'm longing for the spring, longer and warmer, and hopefully finally some drier/sunnier days ... :) Tried to wash my Rado for some time now, always rained or snowed ... I hate winter Tempest

Have to agree, the FK Königsport are nice, vvery nice (running them on my Storm Mk2 Rocco), use Koni dampers, and pass on the lifetime Koni warranty on the dampers. Tempest
-
Nope, they'll be doing the same ones as they have been doing so far without the E-Mark. Tempest
-
My personal opinion would be to steer well clear of such inexpensive solutions, as dazzyvr6 already mentioned, they could break prematurely. I have also heard from numerous folks who have tried such cheap solutions on their Roccos, that they are extremely harsh, and just don't compare at all to the better known brands, such as FK, KW, Koni etc. I had the same decision to take about a year ago for my Storm Mk2 Rocco, and decided to save up a bit more and go for some kit from a reputable brand (FK in my case), and haven't regretted it. Just my 2 cents (Eurocents  ) Tempest
-
Yes folks, just read it on the German forum, FK are looking at launching their own rear lights for the Rado WITH an E-Mark!!!!! There'll be clear/red, smoked/red, and smoked ones. Price at the moment at 269 Euros (approx. 185 Quid), OK, more expensive than the recent group buy here, but prices should come down. Tempest
-
Not on, Jim! Gotta sort out those Rados and get them in here, and get some meets sorted in Coventry. BK 8J17s with 205/40R17 tyres. Well I thought along the same lines, untill I realised that there aren't many white US G60 Rados around, most of them are this horrid (IMHO :D ) nugget yellow. Tempest
-
Same here, well done Jim, now we'll just have to have a quick Cov meetup when you've got yours, mate, gotta show those plebs here in Cov. what REAL cars look like 8) Tempest

Oops, hadn't realised there was a word filter in operation here: "wix" in German means "****" it's the w-word, folks, as in w*a*n*k Just wanted to clarify that, end of German lessons  Tempest
-
Yayhay !!! Finally managed to get the 10W60 oil for my G60 Got it from Oscott's (you need a trade account with 'm), at a reasonable £26 including the dreaded VAT. Even funnier was that the oil filter that I got this morning is by Wix, a subsidiary of Dana Corporation. OK, you might say, what's funny there? Well, "wix" in German means "wank" . The shop folks didn't quite get it why I broke out in laughter seeing the packaging :D Tempest
-
That should be possible though using phpBB from what I've seen, as the German Rado board (see here, scroll all the way down :D http://www.vwcorrado-forum.de/wbb2/thread.php?threadid=6290&sid=) has got that feature enabled. Just some settings enabled in the Avatar section :?: Tempest

@ Jim: Cheer up, I'm E too, CV3, crap this city  Tempest

That's true, as I did have to pay customs taxes having had the book sent over to Germany, postman collected the tax or else no book  Tempest

Haven't taken out the "snorkel" or resonance pipe from my airbox yet, but folks on the Germa Rado forum have already observed that it: a) increases the sound no end  b) increases fuel consumption :( , and c) reduces bottom torque slightly, some stated they noticed it quite badly. Soooo, I'll have to try it myself, I guess, but I don't really feel like wanting to give up bottom end torque 8) Tempest

I got mine for Xmas as a pressie, mainly as it's geared up for US-spec Rado, and having one, it's ideal. First impression when it arrived (ordered it from Amazon in the States, who at the time were giving a 30% discount, cost me approx. £64 total inc. postage to Germany where I was for Xmas) was "Great! What a tomb.". On closer inspection, and also owning the Bentley for 1980-1984 Roccos, I felt that the Rado Bentley is less geared towards the home enthousiast mechanic, as it mentions a whole lot more of those nasty VW tool part numbers/special tools etc. May also be down to the fact that the Rado already is a more modern and hence more complicated car than the Rocco. But overall, I'd give the Bentley a full *thumbs up*, it's got loads of nice explosion diagrammes, clearly labelling and then structuring the relavant text/explanations. Tempest

Yes, thanks for the tip, Jim, but have already tried them, no cigar, they don't do it. Will just have to wait till Oscott's are back in stock again, or next time I'm over in Germany (every bleeding DIY market has got the stuff over there; kicking myself I din't bring a bottle last time I was there  ) Might just have to use 10W40 in the meantime, as an oil change is imminent 8) Tempest

Oh, just spotted your other question, Amrik :D: Although I've never done it myself yet, there are 2 good sites (although in German :? ) with piccies and detailed descriptions that have helped many a German Rado-fan already get their G-Lader out: http://www.gti-g60.de/gladerausbau.htm http://isnet-ev.de/privat/corrado/arbeitsschritt_g.htm Tempest[/url]
