  1. Last call. Up for grabs: Club chairman, treasurer and Sprinter club magazine editor! Overview of the new show season. Review of the alst year (shows, merchandise, financials - what do you get for your money, come and hear it all). Visit the Gaydon Heritage Motor Museum for free, too. Tempest
  2. Never knew the VW Kombi was designed by a fellow countryman of mine from the Netherlands! Anyway, a last farewell video here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=player_embedded&v=tXynxODC4eY Tempest
  3. Nah, my C has cruise control, OK without radar, but it still works very nicely on the motorways. Aircon was pleasant on the journey to the Nat Day last year, so what more do you want in a sports car? They're interesting gadgets from a technology and engineering point of view, no doubt, but I foresee problems with too many people becoming too dependent on these new technologies and as a result increased switching off of brains amongst drivers, resulting in more crashes (into our beloved Cs :-O), when said drivers will argue along the lines of ¨It wasn't my fault, it was the car's fault!¨. 4. Yes, I remember that job well, when I did it for my G60 back on a hot summer day in 2008. Waterpump out, ooh wait, all the other gubbins need to come out. Not quite as quick a job as on a GTI engine  Tempest
  5. We're on stand 1-45, that's Hall 1, stand 45 :) Tempest
  6. It never seizes to amaze me what preconceptions people have about people trying to run a business. All I'd ask those so-called critics: Are you prepared to work for free (in your daily job)? And if not, why not? Same goes for people trying to make a living running a company, only they get the customer abuse thrown in in addition. Too many people in cushy 9-5 jobs with no real responsibility (customers, staff, products, taxes, laws and regulations to comply with, the list is endless) I reckon. I have used VW Heritage on several occasions, because even though on the face of it they are more expensive than VW Classic Parts, once you've added postage costs to your order directly from Germany, VW Heritage most of the times are cheaper again. 7. Bumpy! So far only have 2 cars! Need more for it to be worthwhile :) Tempest
  8. Can't unfortunately register other members than myself, so visit here, and click on Join or whatever the button is called: http://www.corradoclubgb.co.uk/ccgb16/index.php?option=com_illbethere&controller=events&task=view&id=81&Itemid=202 Must be logged in for the button to appear. Tempest
  9. The SciroccoRegister are holding their National Day again at Cosford RAF Museum this year, Saturday, 2 August 2014, 10:00 — 16:30, and we have been invited to join them. There are usually a few Cs around :) £3.50 mandatory car parking fee (RAF museum) Possibility of camping Friday and Saturday night at the nearby Whitepump Farm campsite along the A5 for less than £10.00 per night. Tempest
  10. Personally I don't think the scheme will be around in 7 years any more. Here's hoping. Tempest
  11. Indeed, because you're not called Schwebe and not designed/constructed these cars  Tempest
  12. Erm, no, ever tried to take a pew on the rear bench of a Rocco? Impossible! Rado has usable rear seats at expense of boot space (compared to Roccos). The new Scirocco has both, usuable rear seats and usable boot space, so not a real sports car. Yes, Schwebe should (and probably has, but due to time limits of feature, that may have been edited out) have pointed that out. :) Tempest
  13. Yes, Karmann's chief construction engineer was allowed to chat away on camera (3 hours in total, which was subsequently edited down to a 4 minutes-or-so feature on German national TV) about all sorts of things Scirocco to mark the Scirocco's 40th anniversary this year, all thanks to my mate Martin Sturm (who features a little bit later on in the video, and in who's Rocco Schwebe then turns the key off-camera saying the exhaust isn't loud enough!). Best bit is Schwebe's comment about the new Scirocco: ¨It's not a sports car. it has 4 seats. A sports car has 2 seats, actually sports car owners usually drive all alone.¨ And that on TV! Legend! See here: Tempest
  14. Registration now open on the CCGB events calendar :) Tempest
  15. Just booked a club stand at the Autometrix trackday event at castle Combe Saturday, 31 May 2014. Who'd be up for this one? Need someone to look after the stand on the day, because I'll be scouting out a new event that same weekend (Retro/VW Mania at Weston Park). Tempest
  16. Need somebody also to look after the stand / take responsibility, because I won't be attending Stonor this year (lost interest a wee bit), scouting out a new event and new venue that same weekend instead (Retro / VW Mania at Weston Park). Tempest
  17. Continuing the planning process for the current show season, it's time to tackle Stonor Park. This will take place on Sunday 1 June on the usual grounds of Stonor Park, entry is £10. Gauging interest here first before I book the stand, because this year clubs have to pay for the stand. Before I lash out Corrado Club of Great Britain's club funds on the stand, I need to see whether we can sufficient interest to justify the expense, so 1-2 club members turning up won't be sufficient ;) In the past I applied for 10-car stands. This event is therefore a strictly-CCGB-members only event. Who's up for this? I'll let this run till the AGM, because after that (if I can still remember then ) I want to get the ball rolling to book and pay for the stand, should there be enough cars. Tempest
  18. Agree with what's been said before: Keep that tidy Mk1 Golf and get a Corrado, too. Same with me: Mk1 Rocco (as the super-fun car, defo not suitable for daily duties) and a Rado (erm, also now a toy), win-win :) Tempest
  19. Here's the list of attendees (and cars :) ) so far: http://www.corradoclubgb.co.uk/ccgb16/index.php?option=com_illbethere&controller=events&task=view&id=77&Itemid=202 Tempest
  20. Thanks for sorting, Andy. To help Andy, you can also register on the CCGB Evenets calendar here: http://www.corradoclubgb.co.uk/ccgb16/index.php?option=com_illbethere&view=events&Itemid=202, so that he can see exactly who is planning on attending on what days: Three entries, one for each day. Tempest
  21. CCGB Club stand reserved for both days! To get your C onto the stand, let me know the following by 1/7/2014: Year of registration, registration number, and whether you would like to take part in the Coventry Run ( a 50-mile run through Coventry and surround Warwickshire, costs 22.00 to be paid by you, colelcted by me and forwarded to the organisers - last year those that attended this event did not take part in the run, but that doesn't need to be the same this year). If planning on coming, get your name down in the CCGB events calendar :) Other highlights this year: Saturday night (23/8/2014) hog roast at 15.00 per person, (please let me know whether you would like to take part in this, so I can collect payment on your behalf) Show&Shine competition, Sat 23/8/2014: Free entry; Category for us: Sports cars 1980 onwards; only 6 cars will be admitted per category.Cash prizes will be awarded. "The judges will be looking to see who best can rise to the challenge of beautifully maintaining a car that they also enjoy regulalrly driving". Let me know whether you want to take part (vehicle year, your mobile telephone number), so i can complete the relevant form. Completed forms are to be returned by 25/7/2014 WheelSkills competition: Ideally an inter-club event where 2 members from each club take part to do what: "Perform challenges designed to test how good they are at parking, reversing and precision manoeuvring, with points given for knocking over planks, hitting cones or dislodging tennis balls - the driver with the least points at the end of the day wins. There is no extra credit for speed or style - slow & steady will almost definitely win the race." More info: http://www.festival-of-motoring.co.uk Tempest
