Discount code is published on the CCGB's forum. Tempest -
The one thing that everyone seems to be forgetting regarding the suggestion of combining the 2 forums is as follows: I am sure you all (and me included) will want transparency of how monies are spent by whoever owns the forum. "NO", I hear you say? What? So you simply hand over your hard earned cash to someone who spends it in a way that he/she does not need to justify to you? The only institution that can normally get away with this is the government (at all levels). In the private sector this is unheard of (shareholders' reports, trust members' reports, etc). Even if the CCGB did merge with this forum, we still need that transparency towards our own members by statute of us being a club and us having to be transparent to our members in how we spend our money. How can we do that, if we chuck a lumpsum to a forum that we have no control over? "Don't care" I hear you say, well, sorry, but having been a company director for quite some time, I for one do care and would want complete accounts of whoever spends my money on a service that I am paying for as a shareholder of that "company". And it's this point that I am going to be nice and challenging: Actually that would solve "my" problem I have with this forum (its mere existence - told you it would be controversial, but that's what I do, not here to make friends but question critically this time), in that I never understood the difference between the 2, but know that there has always been a certain dislike by the former forum owner to the CCGB. I don't care of its historical implications, seems like kindergarden to me, and have always advocated the 2 merge, but with the CCGB enjoying a formal club status, under CCGB ownership and management. If that doesn't work, then the CF has to go. Flamesuit on? Bah, fire me, and I'll hit back even harder ;-) Tempest

Corrado display @ 2016 VW festival
Tempest replied to VAG-hag's topic in Event Announcements & Discussion
The CCGB events calendar entries are primarily for the CCGB to gauge how many CCGB members will attend. Not everyone has used the calendar, so I suspect there will be quite a few more CCGB members attending than just the 13 or so that have registered on the CCGB events calendar. Tempest -
Great Weekend! SciroccoRegister nats Day and Tatton
Tempest replied to Tempest's topic in Event Announcements & Discussion
Yes, spotted your car amongst the Mk2 Golfs and did wonder. Sadly I had to cancel the CCGB club stand at the last minute due to precisely 0% interest, and would have trouble with the organiser's if I hadn't released the stand, because space is at premium at Tatton Park, so will be snapped by other clubs on the waiting list. I'll try again next year ... Tempest -
Strange experience with wheel alignment at Kwik Fit..
Tempest replied to Jim's topic in General Car Chat
Never had issues with getting the camber on my G60 adjusted, never saw the garage needing to use any special tools or anything, other than just the laser-alignment kit, and then 2 spanners to undo the 2 bolts/nuts at the bottom of the strut. Don't think the VR's are any different to the G60 suspension set up on the fronts, at least. Tempest -
Some interesting points made here. As events manager for the CCGB (and having been that since at least back in 2007, if not 1-2 years before that), I have increased my making noises that I could do with taking time out, mainly due to my current new job (have had it for nearly 2 years now) being more tiring than I had thought, plus in my previous job I could do some of the brain-deader clubstuff at work, which I definitely can't do where I am now anymore. once at home, I often just want to relax, and not have to spend ages updating events calendars, forums, social media (which I am frankly too old for!), so could do with support on those fronts. It is saddening to see that despite what little time I have left for events club stuff and the efforts I do make for the CCGB in organising club stands at various events throughout the year, quite a few shows just do not get the interest from members: NEC Classic Car Show NEC Practical Classics Resto Show Tatton Park (had to release the stand this year because 3 days prior to the show i still had no interest!) Seighford Resto Show (3 cars, 2 of which were committee, requested 5-car stand) Coventry Moto Fest (2 cars, both committee, had requested 5 car stand) ... Have a look at the events calendar on the CCGB website to see the sad state of affairs when it comes to the available shows and stands and the actual turn-out of members. Probably everyone keeping their Rados locked up for better times. I also don't want to have / and cannot attend all shows in the calendar, such as the Nats day this year. I, too, have my own personal budget for shows, and feel it unfair to force me to attend all shows, as I don't get paid fuel or anything. What I am always hoping for is that members can help me out on that front, by offering to take over some club representation roles at shows that I cannot or don't want to attend. Anyway, that's all that off my chest ;-) From an events point of view I therefore don't think we have necessarily let down the membership, it's for the members to pick up the offers put before them. I can relate partially to the comment made earlier, i.e. that of "Shows, been there, done that", as I, too, start feeling that way, and increasingly seek out completely different shows, more and more in my own region, such as the Hinckley Bid, or Oadby carfest this Sunday, where I will be taking my Mk1 to. Nice to see 2/3s of my fleet in that list :thumbleft: Tempest

It's amazing what can turn up for what started as a little autojumble with a few classic cars thrown in. Had Jim join me so that I could have my 2 Karmann Type 53s at the same meet, even parked next to each other :thumbleft: Amazing what other metal was present: http://scirocco.edat.co.uk/pictures/A47-2016-2/index.html Tempest

Alpinewhite G60 (that unmistakable G60 howl :thumbleft:) making good progress (spinning wheels and all) in Coventry today, coming off Humber Road, entering onto the island junction to A444, and zooming off onto the A44 northbound, around 17:10 or so. Nearly thought mine had been nicked :bonk:, but saw the standard rear light clusters. Tempest

Only have you at the moment, Bruny, and have informed the organisers that the CCGB will now only need a 3 car stand, just in case some more do rock up on the day. Tempest

The season opener is over again, and thanks to some excellent Scirocco Register company and the lack of any base-junkies in the hall we were parked up in, a very enjoyable event indeed  There were a handful (well, 2 actually) Roccos out there apart from ours, erm, sorry not counting the new model. A few Corrados dotted around the place, and a few of the nicer Mk1 Golfs and cabrios managed to wander in front of my camera lens in addition to, of course, the Scirocco Register stand, and what a nice line-up we had! Pretty much all the cars had air ride, a phenomenon here to saty, it would appear. The Rados had this stuff, too, meaning all sorts of rolled rear arches, plus, yup, on closer inspection, bubbling up of paint and all the resulting consequences pre-programmed. Some of the Goofs even had cuts in the arches to accommodate the bigger wheels with air-ride, masked with, yup, stickers available at UD  Pics: Tempest

Any more takers? Head over to the events calendar section on the CCGB website to add your name, otherwise the stand will not be of sufficient size. Plus I need to send a list of car details. Discounted ticket prices valid only till 13 March 2016. Tempest

Entry fee is still a reasonable £9.00 (as of 2015) Window hangers for club stand access have arrived as of today, so get your name on the list over on the events calendar on the CCGB website, and I'll send one out to you. Still 5 places available on the stand (as of 1/3/2016). Tempest

Hi folks, Gauging interest in this one before I proceed with reserving a club stand for the CCGB: So, if you would be up for this one (must leave your Rado on the stand for 2 full days), post up here, so i can see how popular this new event might be on our events calendar. This is only to gauge interest, no stand has been booked yet. I'll let this one run for up to 4 weeks, because that's when I hope to still be able to grab a stand, should this event prove very popular. Deadline therefore is: 24/3/2016 Tempest

Happy for you to get some support, try KeVR6 on the CCGB forum, as he's closer to you down south, and keen on organising a few events your way. I will be going to the SR Nats Day, so won't be able to attend myself. Tempest -
Nice looking paint job. You said "windows all back in" again, so how did the paintjob cope with the glued-in rear quarter and tailgate windows, and more importantly the seals of the rear quarter windows? AFAIK they're obsolete, so if damaged, you're buggered, basically. Curious to know :) You'll also get the oil pipe thread sorted, I'm sure. Besides the weather is still crap (well, here in the Midlands anyway) to enjoy freshly painted nice cars like yours :) Tempest
