  1. Very nice looking G60, best colour, too :) Looking forward to seeing yours in the flesh at a show this season, head over to the CCGB events calendar to get to some of the many shows. How about the Practical Classic Car Restoration Show beginning of March? 2 alpine-white G60s on the stand ... Tempest

  3. Hi folks, Been extremely busy sorting out all sorts of meets for us Corrado fanatics already, new meets and existing ones seem to be coming in thik and fast, so I am working as fast as I can to get them in the events calendar on the CCGB website. Head over there if you want to attend any of the listed shows with your C. Here's the link: http://www.corradoclubgb.co.uk/ccgb16/index.php?option=com_illbethere&view=events&Itemid=202 Some events won't start registration until later this week (I always put in a delay when I upload an event to make sure the system doesn't fall over). 4. Ok, who'd be up for a CCGB club stand? Need to assess realistic levels f interest before I request a stand :) Tempest
  5. Meets don't always have to be just about the cars, it's getting to know and meet up with new and old friends, and what better way to do then at a German Christmas market when many a Rado is in hibernation. To finish off the year 2015, this is the last chance to meet up with like-minded people. The biggest Xmas market outside of Germany is held in Birmingham. That's where we're heading for some Rado- (and other) talk over a mulled wine or two. Meet up at the fountain on Victoria Square in Birmingham (10 minutes walk from New Street Train Station) at 13:00 on Saturday, 19th December. Last chance too for some late Xmas shopping. Date & Time: Saturday, 19 December 2015, 13:00 — 21:00 (can leave whenever you want, of course) Location: Birmingham Christmas Market Victoria Square Birmingham, B1 1BD UK Website: http://www.birmingham.gov.uk/frankfurtmarket PM me for mobile number if you plan to arrive anytime after 13:00 and want to join a hardy bunch of Rado-ers. 6. Yup, recently happened to me: Ordered a new valve cover gasket, fitted it, then 2 days later whilst searching for something else in my garage came across a brandnew valve cover gasket! At that point I decided I need to start some sort of searchable catalogue for all the stuff I have hoarded, but looking at the sheer volume of stuff in my garage decided against it  Tempest
  7. Would this fit a LHD G60 Rado? I'd be interested if it did. Tempest
  8. Advert for this event gone up on the Corrado Club website events calendar and forum. Tempest
  9. Last outing for my G60 this season, so off to the Pod I drove, to find quite a few more G60 Rados present, amongst some other tasty metal (ignoring all the new stuff that is  ): Tempest
  10. Last outing for my Mk1 Rocco, SORNing it end of this month, so goodbye till next season  Great weather today, so took my Mk1 to a local classic car meet, ironically right next door to where I work, Gaydon Heritage Centre, where quite a few tasteful cars turned up: The Mazda rotary engine owners club turned up, so lots of RX7 and 8s, as well as a RX3, and some non-rotary-engined Mazdas such as the MX5. Quite a few Kei cars were attending, too. Pics: Tempest
  11. I don't think the comparison of TVs in shops running in demo-mode is quite comparable to this case of deliberate fraud, messing with the environment, and deliberately misleading the public. None of that really happens or has just grave consequences with the example of say TVs running in demo mode. This case has real impact on people's car values now, too. No, I don't think the German government are going to do anything about it other than a bit of sword rattling (just to keep the public at ease), because in Germany every 6th job is related to the car industry, so there is too much at stake. The German government were fully aware of defeat software, just hadn't expected (naive) it to be in active use. Tempest
  12. Thought so, the article is why I was contacted back in June/July, when I had a 1.5-hour chat with a journalist who was working on an interesting-sounding article on futurre classics, including the Rado, for an upcoming new mag. Just got my copy at Smiths, and it quotes some chap called Eric Coolen  Tempest
  13. This one will be of interest then: http://www.bbc.co.uk/programmes/b04n31d2 Nicely explains how things happened at GM. Tempest
  14. Yup, passengered in my C to the event campsite for him to sign all sorts of things like glove box lids etc. Poor man nearly developed writer's cramp! Tempest
  15. Mk1 Rocco was designed by Giorgio Giugiaro, who Wilhelm Karmann knew quite well. It was based on the Asso di Picche prototype that Giugiaro had designed for Audi. Giugiaro then in the mid 70s designed another prototype for BMW, the Asso di Quadri, which you can't help but think that it served as inspiration for VW's own in-house designers when they designed the Mk2 Rocco. VW was chosen as the preferred designer following a competition which was run by VW, into which Giugiaro did enter his design for a Mk2 Rocco, which was felt to be too similar to the design of the Mk1 Rocco. When VW had finished their design of the Mk2 they handed it over to Giugiaro to "tidy" up the design, so you can imagine his mild surprise to see what similarity it had to his Asso di Quadri design. Expecting a brandnew book on Karmann to arrive on my doorstep any time soon now, as recommended (and inspected by me whilst visiting him) by Wilhelm Schwebe himself. Tempest
  16. ... together with a little gang of UK Rados and Roccos and one rental car driven by die-hard Rocco fans all the way from sunny California (having to put up with the German rainy weather instead): Tempest
  17. This is what you missed: 69 cars, amongst which some tasty Corrados, and a 260Z, which won best "other" car, beautiful sunny weather, and a few drinks the evening before on a local campsite: Tempest
  18. Next Saturday at Cosford RAF Museum - usually a handful of Cs attending. Can we get a few more in this year? All welcome :thumbleft: Tempest
  19. Went up to Tatton Park, which despite the local showers that apparently had come down prior to the start of this event did not put off the masses of VW nuts descending onto this great show in the VW show calendar. Once I'd stuck my G60 into the concourse, cleaned it, armed with club stand stuff I wandered towards the club stand section, and wandered, and wandered, but couldn't find anyone, apart from a few Cs scattered around on other club stands. Hope I didn't miss anyone :bonk: Was a good show, weather turned to nice and sunny, and hot even, as the day progressed. Pics: Tempest
  20. Applies to all walks of life, brand-snobbery is BIG business. It will last as long as there are "muppets" out there going for it. Tempest
  21. Thanks all for attending, what a marvellous day it was, sunshine, heat, noise (jets, Spitties and Hurricanes, Vulcan, oh and Rados). Will be back next year. Here are my pics, not quite suited for the flying machinery: Tempest
