  2. A friend of mine seeems tobe having some probs with his 1.8 16v corrado, it starts up first time in the morning but once warmed up it refuses to start up agagin i've changed the starter motor on it, but the wierd thing it doesn't even attempt to click the starter motor, any ideas of what i could be, i was thinking ignition switch but then it would'nt start first thing in the morning (when its cool),could it be a faulty coil :? , any help appreciated. thanks bobby :D

    weird one

wnat car is it, whats the mileage and what is the thickness of the oil you used?
  5. did you say your from leeds if you are you wanna be contacting smashing vw or the body specialist accross the road from them as the guy knows everything about the 16v lumps and looms. I've had something similar happen to my 16v too recently and i'm pretty sure its down to a loom problem, so will be removing it and replacing it with a standard one. If you need any help pm me and i'll give you thenumbers of soem of the guys i use in leeds mate. :D what colour is your corrado, may have seen it about
  6. do u mean like the surrounds on the mk4 golfs and new polos, but with a blue led instead of red?

    any ideas

ok, erm makes a continous banging sound, which increases when the revs are increased, when the lump was changed over (because the old lump was making the same noise and was beyond a rebuild) the noise dissapeared for day then now its back to the same situation, the engine i now have was heard running before it was removed and was running sweet. the parts that were changed over are the waterpump, powersteering pump, new mounts all round, manifold (exhaust) dizzy and ht leads, the lump was serviced and had the timing belt replaced whilst out aswell, i've now dropped the car back of with my mechanic, he said this happened when he first fired up the lump but then went away, ive dropped the belt that runs the powersteering pump and the noise continues will the car fire up with the waterpump belt removed asweel even though this runs to the alternator, as if noise goes away when i remove this belt, i know its gonna be down to either the waterpump or the pulleys even though they are tight, no play at all. hope its something simple like ht leads or the dizzy, but it does sounds qiute loud not like a basic missfire ir timing error. :(
  8. i'd strip the head down on the kr lump and inspect it for damage, if its bent a fair few valves and marked the pistons heaviy then buy a decent second hand head for it and get it back up and running, if its only bent one or two valves but some new valves for it and maybe have the head skimmed and drop some new valve stem seals at thesame time, as the valves need to be removed to have the head skimmed on the 16v heads. I'd leave the the 2.0 16v lump complete and sell it with the gearbox, as it will save messing about and will sell quicker, oh and break the later car as you will get more money for the later spec parts. :D

    any ideas

after having the lump chaned over on my 1.8 kr corrado it seem that loud bangig has returned on my new lump, the only bits that were transferred over are the dizzy and the ht leads, aswell as the power steering components, the noisy sounds like its coming deep from within the block.
  10. on my h reg 1.8 16v the oil light keeps flashing constantly and sometimes the buzzer goes off aswell, have unplugged both oil pressure switches the ones on top of the oil cooler, and the buzzer still continues. I'm thinking its being caused by a dodgy connection in th instrument panel, or some wiring fault. The lump has been changed recently but was doing the same thing before on the old engine, is there any tests i can do or any way i can just shut the buzzer off temporarily (sp). thanks
  11. yeah that was a very clean motor, looked mint with the billet rims, the rims ended up on my mates polog40 (also silver), i'm suprised you aint seen it flying about leeds, although i think he sold it recently. hows the corrado coming along?

    shafted

yeah was definitley an undercover mondeo estate with leathers! hoping the court summans takes it time to come through then atleast i can insure my corrado before my points are applied, or ban. should be pickking it up this coming week with its a new engine and gearbox, just want to get a drive of the damn thing before it comes to winter. thanks for all the advise and helpful links guys, much appreciated.

    shafted

no i asked them, and they said we can only pull one of you at a time, only one car. worst thing is i know the other guy
  14. Bobby

    shafted

i wasn't in the corrado only in my mk4 polo was doing about 60mph, guy in font must have been clocking on 80mph in his golf, oh well i'll see how it goes, had a clean liscence for 3 years then been pulled 3 times in the last three months. one way or another i will be driving my corrado
  15. Bobby

    shafted

got pulled yesterday after doing a supposed 70-80 mph in 30 zone by an undercover mondeo, anyway the way its looking i could be in for a ban or some more points to add to the three i've alreday got. Has anyone been caught for anything similar and what did they get, hoping for points and a fine :( . i know i'm getting what i deserve for exceeding the speed limit, when i was told to sit in the back i didn't notice any cameras in the car, so i'm hoping they have no evidence. I've been advised to say that i was doing around 50 but not over 60 as thats an automatic ban, is this true? does anyone knew roughly how long i'm looking until my court summans will come through.

    16vt?? how to

s2 pistons, sounds pricey, what other mods would be needed, apart from getting hold of an appropriate manifold to mount the turbo?
  17. looking very smart mate :D , well done, is that aqua blue or a different colour?
  18. are u skim filling the dents in the door with body filler and using fibreglass for the damage below the handle? Is you car red, and whats the colour code, flash red? also are you planning on spraying the whole door with a spraycan or are you going to try blend the paint in mate? also what primer are you using, as most spray can primers are way too thin, you really need primer filler to cover over the repairs as this prevent the repairs showing up,as the fibreglass sinks slightly after a while, trust me. oh yeah and when sanding down the body filler start with something a bit finer than 80 as you should have only applied a bit more filler on than required so you can flat it back, using too rough a grade wil leave scratches that will show up unless you use fairly thick primer filler. i you need any more info just ask. have you got any pics of the damage? You could be better of sourcing a another door

    2.0 8v Vs 2.9 VR6

1.8kr head with standard cams . ported head, four branch manifold and 2.0 bottom end is a nice little engine
  20. this also happened to me but in my case it was a sign of the bottom end giving up, finnaly ended in it throwing a rod, but manage to limp it home, whats the mileage on the lump?

    Ventura springs ?

ok had gmax on one of my polo's before and i have to say there not too bad for the price (kit of shocks and springs), i did find them a bit on the soft side as my car was dropped around the 60mm mark and tyre to arch clearance was very close when carrying a full load in the car, other than that they give a fairly decent ride.
  22. ok cheers guys, had a feeling he was talking out of his rear end

    timing

timing can be adjusted slightly by turning the distributer slightly after slackening of the two 10mm nuts, advancing the timing should cause the idle to rise slightly which can be adjusted back to around the 9oorpm mark by turning the idle screw on the throttle body. hope that helps :D
  24. is that the seat splitter of the cupra r if so i have tried one up to the bumper on my corrado and its no where near the right shape to line up with the bumper properly :( although it did look quite smart, i'll post up some pics when i get my corrado back (soon hopefully).
  25. basicly been offered a supposedly chipped ecu for a 1.8 kr lump, i was thinking that the ecu on the kr were very basic and can't be chipped, is this guy pulling my leg? :? thanks bobby :D
