My new engine - (progress pics)......update 16/05/05

Right, here's an update.........Stripped the engine bay

 

 

Surface rust on battery tray.....

 

 

Ground it all back to metal.....

 

 

Sealed it all with hammerite and red oxide primer and then welded the smooth panel over and seam sealed it all.....

 

 

..and here's the bay ready for paint.........

 

 

Painted smooth inner wings.....

 

 

...other wing (left that hole for the air flow meter sensor to be popped through - but could have done it without that! :oops: )

 

 

Finished bay with painted servo, m/c, overbraid on brake pipes etc...

 

 

Powder-coated subframe, wishbones, full Powerflex bushes, Eibach ARB..

 

 

Powder-coated front cross member....

 

 

..and the engine bolted up with colour-coded gearbox, Vibratechnic mounts..

 

 

..another full frontal.....

 

 

All this work, including the painting has been undertaken in my single garage, and the man responsible for this automotive mayhem is this little fella........Fatt mk1 (or Dazza!) - keep up the good work dude!!

Bit more progress, although it's been slow as I've been away a couple of weekends and Daz has been busy with his new addition to family........but here's the engine bay finally finished....

 

Polished Stroeve Motorsport alloy PAS and washer tanks, Forge Motorsport alloy expansion tank and polished Eibach Strut brace

 

 

Chrome/Polished Bonrath Power Rohr, colour-coded airflow meter and Ramair Induction kit

Yes it does drive but the fusebox is just hanging in the footwell at the moment - got all the switchgear wiring to fit, all the dash plastics, Votex console etc back in and should be ready this weekend..... :wink:

Plan was to fit battery in spare wheel well but it meant having to butcher up my ICE boot-build......so it's now mounted under the Corrado rear armrest! :wink: 8)

It's a sealed gel battery, can be mounted pretty much anywhere (upside down even!) and doesn't need to be 'vented' like a traditional acid battery. I already checked. :wink:

Erm, BMW have been putting batteries in the boots for years..... as have other marques.
