Does act as a membrane as seals but use Hammeritre spray for my underseal - so good guess but incorrect.

Its a great hack my cads had lost there stiffness and kept popping out the bottom clips of the door card - Also acts as a seal from membrane if you have a leak and stops it swelling- they have now tightened up and the bottom clips hold them in place. Pictures - can see the one it nearly dried and only leaves a slight Saturn glaze. Was very tempted to water the PVA down to bleed it right through the vag special cardboard but didnt want to risk the fabric getting wrecked - so put on neat . TomB 0 Posted March 14, 2021 This was Sunday last week. The insurance company have assigned the repair to the VW main dealer who have been to take a look and said they think they can straighten the doors. The other options are a write off and buy back or cash in lieu and I find my own body shop. I've already sourced replacement doors and glass from a breaker (as I thought they were going to write it off) so we'll probably take the money. You can still get the rear quarter glass from classic parts in Germany near £400 delivered. I doubt the doors will ever be the same as the metals pretty thin at the joint especially if it’s started to rust behind the seal. Good luck matey
Dox 23 Posted March 14, 2021 I'd try and keep those doors if poss, if the others need paint you'll have the issue with obsolete scraper seals etc
Keyo 47 Posted March 14, 2021 (edited) Scumbags feel your pain and good luck you will get her back in good shape- was something left ion the car it really looks like they tried to get in - I would say more over that it was none professional attempt to break in. Smashing of cars glass is very common on the highway - I noticed this more owning a dog and constantly walking round shattered glass on the pavement by parking bays. I invested in a disk lock last week and use that car to block in my other two cars. Edited March 14, 2021 by Keyo
fendervg 32 Posted March 14, 2021 Really sorry to see this - what a pain! I'd agree - it's not really that hard to open a Mk1/2/3/Corrado etc - these guys must have been clueless and determined, and not really interested in the car. I hate dealing with insurance, good luck with it - I hope it works out and you get to keep the car and get it back into decent shape. It's so sad and enraging to see this kind of sch*ttt going down. A crackhead can cause so much damage in one night trying to find money for their next hit- easily smash 10 windows a night - causing 1000 s of damage just for £30.00 Edited March 14, 2021 by Keyo

Keyo 47 Posted March 14, 2021 (edited) My choice of deterrent is an Airedale Terrier which have the largest teeth in the domestic canine family and used by the British Army- I also have a spray that once released its none harmful ( they dont know that ) but it stains the persons face red for several months and also can get a few smacks in. Dog theft is my biggest concern as my pets are like my family. 2 weeks ago in my home city a car was stolen with two toddlers in the back - also several occasions car thief's have ran over police officers, you need to be prepared its a sick world out there.
