GIXXERUK 0 Posted August 10, 2005 i like it.....mmmmmm http://www.vwvortex.com/artman/publish/ ... 1472.shtml
corradophil 3 Posted August 10, 2005 Looks a bit bland to me, much prefer the Mk4.
Son of a Beesting 0 Posted August 10, 2005 '250hp is more than adequate for the hot hatch market competition in Europe. Here in North America though the R32 Golf would face competition in the form of the Subaru WRX STI and Mitsubishi Evolution which push the 300hp boundries in power.' Of course we done get the Scooby or the Evo over here?!?
veeDuB_Rado 0 Posted August 10, 2005 can i just say...what the f**k have they done to it, 99% will prefer the mk4 IMO
jedi-knight83 0 Posted August 10, 2005 boring... so much for it being r34 or even r36 as speculated
jedi-knight83 0 Posted August 10, 2005 oh and no mention of standard dsg??
Dr Forinor 0 Posted August 10, 2005 I like it, I just wish they had been a more crazy with their styling though.
daves16v 1 Posted August 10, 2005 Too many horizontal lines on the front for me.
billinjah 0 Posted August 10, 2005 mmm id have one as a company car but no way hand over my own folding!
Crozo 0 Posted August 10, 2005  the mk4 looks mean and more impressive on the road for me
Andy665 0 Posted August 10, 2005 Clearly designed for overweight, balding 45 year old solicitors who want to be seen in a "sporty" car but have no interest in driving and aren't prepared to sacrifice the luxury
Neil L. 0 Posted August 10, 2005 Gee, thats ugly for such a superb motor! MK.4 any day!!!!
dinkus 10 Posted August 10, 2005 I like the seats, but that's about it. The rest of the interior likes a dreary, dreary place to be and the front looks like a a boggo GTI with some sort of glorified cheese grater stuck in the holes. In fact, I think the Mk5 GTI looks better and that's still an ugly bugger. Mk4 R32 all the way :)
Kevin Bacon 5 Posted August 11, 2005 boring... so much for it being r34 or even r36 as speculated I've read a few sources that have speculated an R34.... I think it's going to happen, just not yet.
Lippy 0 Posted August 11, 2005 sorry, but it looks like a golf 4plus (the 1/2 size people carrier) and looks taller than the GTI but if it reduces list prices of mk4's then whose to complain!
Neil VR6 0 Posted August 11, 2005 Here too: http://www.sky.com/skynews/xml/article/ ... 01,00.html £23K for a Golf. You can get so much car for that money, Evo VIII, 22b Impreza, you can even get a TVR Tuscan for £20K, Merc SLK, Honda S2000, Porsche 968 the list goes on! It's nice but it's not where my money would go.
Chris VR6nos 0 Posted August 11, 2005 Is that a Golf or a Punto? [comedystatement]and makes it as quick as the £18,995 237bhp front-wheel-drive Vauxhall Astra[/comedystatement] Chris
Stormin Dave 0 Posted August 11, 2005 Got to agree with most. :? I don't particularly like the new shape golf no matter what spec. The Mk 4 to me still looks to have more character purpose.

I agree, but I didn't like the MK4 when it was released, but I do now. Maybe it will just take some getting used to.

chrishill 0 Posted August 11, 2005 looks pretty tame really, i'm not impressed with the looks of the mk5 at all. that grille looks like its edging towards audi's brand-standard open mouthed fish look...
