MARLBORO_LITE 0 Posted March 16, 2006 I have located a 2nd hand heater panel but am being asked for £75. I know these things are pricey new, but £75 seems a high price to me. Good or bad value? What do these usually go for? I can see why the modded Passat item is an alternative........... Cheers
chrishill 0 Posted March 16, 2006 or (IIRC) a leon panel... TBH thats a bit cheap compared to what they go for on ebay, i sold one just before xmas for almost £100!
.Rich. 0 Posted March 16, 2006 I also need one of these and the bowden cables, are they the same on passats? Which reg passats work?

MARLBORO_LITE 0 Posted March 17, 2006 So a Leon panel fits too? What year would that be? Current model? Would it need modifying? I think the Leon would be a better alternative as it would be far newer than an elderly Passat item maybe?
Kevin Bacon 5 Posted March 17, 2006 all the info you need is here rich. http://www.the-corrado.net/wiki/index.p ... rol_repair Blimey, that's a blast from the past, I forgot I wrote that! I got that passat panel for £10 from a breakers and it's been perfect for 2 years. My mate's Leon panel was totally different to a Rado one, don't think it will work. It's the screen+foot vent cables that cause all the grief. Replace those and it should be good again.
bigpants baby 0 Posted March 17, 2006 get a 1994 seat toledo one, there is no swapping of levers etc

MARLBORO_LITE 0 Posted March 24, 2006 Does a brand new 94 Leon panel @£28 delivered sound good?!
Stan 24v 0 Posted March 24, 2006 Compared to £70 for a C one, YES!!
MARLBORO_LITE 0 Posted March 25, 2006 Just noticed I had tapped in 'Leon' above, meant to say Toledo of course. Does sound a bit of a steal. I wonder if Seat stealers catch on to the fact that these panels fit the Corrado as well and whack the price up. Has this happened in the past with any other common-Group [seat/Audi/Skoda] items does anyone know?
dinkus 10 Posted March 25, 2006 The only thing that I know of is the Lupo wipers, but that wasn't really because we were buying them. The Lupo GTI wipers were recalled and replaced under warranty, so VW made up job-lot packs with the arm and blade that cost much less than the individual parts did. So we all went nuts and bought loads of them. Problem was, once they'd done all the warranty replacements on Lupos a year or so later, VAG stopped making the all-in-one kits and the price doubled :( I don't see why it should put the price up if we start buying them though. There were a lot more Toledos made than Corrados so the price per unit to produce the parts was much higher and I don't see us exhausting the world supply of Toledo parts
dazzyvr6 0 Posted March 25, 2006 didnt SEAT put the price up on the brembo brake calipers,im sure i remember them being cheap, then the price doubled

woody 0 Posted March 25, 2006 dazzyvr6, yes seat put the price up of the brambo brake kits, When i got mine 18 months ago they were £595 from Badger 5, now over a thousand pound, I beleive the only part that was actually put up was the calipers inself. Might go to seat myself and get a panel as i am going to a early to late dash change next month. is the seat one the same part number?????

MARLBORO_LITE 0 Posted March 26, 2006 The Toldeo panel is on its way to me (extra quid for Paypal so £29). I have asked the seller what the part number is. He's an Opel parts specialist but with lots of contacts apparently. I have asked him whether he can get hold of more of these. He's putting his feelers out and will let me know. When I know I'll let the Community know.

MARLBORO_LITE 0 Posted March 26, 2006 I have done a search on this but can't find a definitive answer......... Can someone tell me whether I need to remove the centre dash panel to carry out the heater panel swap? I couldn't ease the old panel through the dash opening so started to wonder whether the panel needed to be removed? I have already taken the radio, ashtray panel and cigarette lighter out. If the centre panel has to be removed, can someone tell me how please? Cheers
gradeAfailure 0 Posted March 26, 2006 Yeah, take the centre panel out, it takes 5mins and makes the job soooo much easier...
Stan 24v 0 Posted March 27, 2006 Unless youre centre panel is cracked, like mine and a lot of people here, in which case you can probably remove the controls without taking the panel out :(
MARLBORO_LITE 0 Posted March 29, 2006 Brand spanking new Toledo Panel has arrived, well chuffed. It has the part number 358 819 045. It appears that the guy I bought it off is, in addition to Opel, a Seat specialist part supplier (older models primarily). I'll drop him an email to see whether he's had any luck sourcing more of these. In my discussions with him I don't want to let on that these things fit Corrados in case there's an immediate price hike! What I plan on doing is posting his contact details up when I have a definitive answer from him and then the Rado Community can contact him direct? I am beginning to wonder whether this post should go in to the Suppliers forum...Mods please?
MARLBORO_LITE 0 Posted April 18, 2006 A quick update.......I fitted the Toledo panel on the weekend and everything went very smoothly. Special thanks to 2_door_fun & gradeAfailure for walking me through centre dash removal. The panel isn't identical to the Corrado unit though, and differences centre mainly around the heater blower dial.......... There appears to be an extra lever for a bowden cable on the blower dial. Also, the Toledo speed knob ( oerr missus!) doesn't correlate with the Corrado speed setting on the cover panel - 0 is speed 1, 1 is speed 2, 2 is speed 3 and, you guessed it, 3 is speed 4. None of this detracts from what was an inexpensive fix for a potentially expensive repair. The Toledo knobs are different in appearence to the Corrado's and swapping isn't an option...again I can live with that. I am wondering whether the Toldeo panel is the same as the Passat one that has been covered previously as an alternative Corrado replacement? The back of the Toledo panel looks very bloody similar to the Passat. With the old Corrado panel out I could see that the only thing wrong with it was the metal spring clip that gives the click/ratchet effect on air distributions/air temp dials had come adrift. I re-secured the clip and the mechanism works perfectly now. In removing the panel, I did manage to break the plastic bowden cable locator (where the spring clip attaches) for air temperature dial. On investigation though, I can see how a plastic wire/hose tie can easily remedy that situation. I don't need a spare so will offer for sale. I haven't got any pics [fla], but couldn't add anything more to that already available. The repair process, with pictures, is in the knowledge base. Cheers :D
