Toad 0 Posted April 17, 2009 :( Bummer. Must be very frustrating! Especially when you use someone with supposedly a good reputation. Just reinfoces my point on not trusting anyone else to work on my car. Glad you made a decision. Some things are worth so much more than a corrado... dukest 0 Posted April 17, 2009 sorry you had so much grief with it Karl.. I thought it was another garage you'd had issues with and thats what had held stealth up but as you say maybe best not to dwell on it.. whatever happened, it was a shame not to get there after being so close but also i'm sure it will be fun to crack on with the turbo and hopefully have it running again soon enough..? Jim 2 Posted April 17, 2009 Sorry to hear it mate - doesn't sound like a happy outcome at all. As you say, a car isn't worth domestic instability - maybe worth getting rid of the lot of it and buying: a) A standard, unmolested Corrado so you tick the desire to own a Corrado. Even if it's a 2.0 16v, it's still a Corrado. b) Something stupid quick with easy tuning potential - old Audi S4 or something. You could get both for
KADVR6 0 Posted April 17, 2009 well i'm not gonna dwell on it, and yeh tom its very frustrating and it always seems to happen to me, everything i have ever done on any car has been done well, as soon as i go to a specialist it all goes pete tong. and jon the hold up was with getting my downpipe not leaking, but pete at dubpower was a legend in sorting a new one out for me, the new non leaking one was at stealth on the 14th feb which is obviously valentines day, so had ANOTHER row that day also :( and yeh jim i will get the corrado running soon, just need to walk away for a while and did you say get a 16v  never  laters karl
Toad 0 Posted April 17, 2009 well i'm not gonna dwell on it, and yeh tom its very frustrating and it always seems to happen to me, Know that feeling. If you ever need a cuddle, just give me a shout.... ;) I think it's time for a 12v revival!
swiftkid 1 Posted April 17, 2009 gutted for you, hope it all goes well but yea i totally agree. A car is supposedly for getting from A to B, us car lovers just like to go via Z occasionally but no point making life difficult. Hope to see the progress in the future with Corrado! yeti 0 Posted April 17, 2009 sh!t karl! - sorry t hear its all gone titts up :( when you've got yours turbo's you'll have to have a go in mine to make yourself feel better as mine's gonna be nowhere near as quick! :camp:
StormchargedVR6 0 Posted April 18, 2009 well i got the car back from stealth today, and after over 3 months nothings happened apart from the ecu having to go away and get repaired after 6 of the coil drivers have been blown :( i'm not overly happy with stealth as the ecu was working when it went there, but it had a missfire somewhere, but i thought that was an advantage of standalone ecu's that you could map them out?? or am i wrong?? when it went into stealth it was wired as batched injection (using 3 coildrivers) vince changed it to sequintal injection (using 6 coildrivers) and 6 have blown?? but theres no point in blaming vince as nobody reckons he can do no wrong?? i really cant be arsed with anymore of this r32 conversion as its just causing sooo many arguments in the house at the moment and i had the corrado so i can enjoy driving it, not so i have rows with the missus :( so i have sold the entire r32 set up and just going back to the trusty 12v, i will be getting that turbo'd later in the year so not all is lost, just wished i had done that in the first place instead of going all misty eyed at the r32 conversion :( karl :( Sorry to here this Karl, but 12v Turbo not plain sailing either. Mines been at JKM for 6 weeks with a misfire which is almost sorted, thank god :? All the fun of a corrado :bad-words:
mic_VR 3 Posted April 18, 2009 Ah mate, gutted for you. I know you've put a shed load of good work into your car, and I know how impressed I was with it when I drove it in s/c'd form. Glad you're sticking with it and not just selling the whole thing which others seem to be doing. I must admit I'm another one who fell in love with the 24V idea, to point I've got a 2.8 4motion sat in mrbeiges garage, but I can also see why you're going back to the good old 12v with a turbo. You only have to look at people like Kev, Dave and Shaun to see exactly what is possible with those 'old' engines. Best of luck to you chap. :salute:
BILLCOR 1 Posted April 18, 2009 What a complete PITA Karl, so near as well, but no point letting a car ruin home life though, once you get it turboed all this will be forgotten
coullstar 0 Posted April 18, 2009 Bad news but remember at the end of the day they are just cars. More to life.

vwdeviant 0 Posted April 20, 2009 Bummer Karl.... what's happening at Vince's at the moment? Mate booked his 16v in for a RR session, drove all the way there (from Hemel) only to be told it's too low to go on the rollers and ta-ra! :cuckoo: Thing is it's not that low, maybe -60mm or so... Have they decided old VW's don't pay in these times and moving on to something more exotic? :brickwall: Or has Vince gone on holiday and left some monkey in charge? :epicfail: I was considering taking my 9a up there for a tune up after having the KR's installed but I'm having second thoughts now... CoxyLaad 0 Posted April 20, 2009 I would hang in with the R32 conversion mate, surely it must be a lot more work to go back to 12v and turbo, than ironing out the r32 issues? and re the quicker to make a baby crack - my baby would have been out looking for work in the feckin time i have been on with mine lol stick with it dude :salute:

Seems a great shame to get so far and spend so much only to chuck it all in at the final hurdle. Good luck with whatever you choose to do however. jamminvr6storm 0 Posted April 21, 2009 Im also sorry to hear this Karl, its a real shame as I was looking forward to hearing your feedback on the whole R32 vs charged 12v subject! I would hang in with the R32 conversion mate, surely it must be a lot more work to go back to 12v and turbo, than ironing out the r32 issues? ^^This is a very good point, are you sure there is no possible revival of the R32 route? I say this because I toatally agree with Shaun regarding a 12v VRT, I am currently building mine with forged internals and its been off the road for about 8 months!! A couple of times I have come close to pulling all my hair out!! Its also worth noting that with the pound so weak against the dollar it is very expensive to start a VRT project atm, especially if you plan on using Schimmel or ATP stuff. Best of luck to you either way mate :D
KADVR6 0 Posted April 21, 2009 cheers guys, and i do understand what your all saying BUT life in my house has been sooo hard due to me being so touchy/arsey/complete tosser due to the car, i just did not want to have to hurt anymore feelings in the house. i must say that when i actually got the car back, and made the descion to sell the r32 shite i became a nicer person to live with :) so what i'm going to do is get a 2.8 12v engine do the chains etc etc, get it running in the car then slowly get all the parts for vrt, and then go for the C2 managment, which all i have heard is very good things. so for a while it will be just a 2.8 12v, but at least it will be turning its own wheels instead of being pushed :( went to the car today and it does look poorly :( the reason the door's cling filmed up is because none of the windows operate?? must have been something to do with the non re-map, i could phone up and ask if they worked when the car was at stealth, but then again he would say "yeh they were working just fine" yeh just like the F*C*I*G ecu was working when i dropped the car off :censored:

Philmo 0 Posted April 21, 2009 A ball breaker - especially when they get trapped between a commercial development that goes awry and the strife. I feel for you mate. :( Havin' said all that stuff it does look a gem in the makin'. For instance, apart from what's under the skin, tasty wheels & colour selection. Is it a mystic? KipVR 1 Posted April 21, 2009 Can't quite believe you're letting the engine go after all the effort but understand that homelife has to be looked after first. James is spot on though, just enjoy the car for a while before you rip it apart again, start on the turbo in the autumn :D :D
