Recommended Posts

Alright alright i hear ya ! . Thanks for the comments it means alot . Im off to argos to get a dehumidifier , it will only be a small one as they are alot of dough for a decent one , will just have to keep emptying it . I forgot i had a oner for xmas . So i dont know weather to spend it on an auto elecrician for an hours work or go to someone i know and get an ecu , coil and a dizzy, fit them an hope for the best . I dont want it to be the ecu as mine is chipped so i will loose that . Someone who looked at the car last time said he knew of two vr's and they didnt rev as quickly as mine , he said it was very responsive compared to theirs. Im not sure if the chip is the reason for this ?.

Had a suprise visit today from the auto electrican who came last time. The car did start when we turned it over before we did anything .But then failed to start after that . After bridging and testing ecu relay, he found a dodgy earth which has something to do with the relay , other than that and moisture in the dizzy cap ,he could not find anything in the two hours he was here . The car is starting at the moment but ive been here before so im not saying its fixed . He was dissapointed he could not find exactly what the fault was .So now all i can do is try and start the car as often as i can and prey it keeps starting . Thanks for all the all the help and support .

Just read the whole thread from start to finish - stunning car Rob. I feel for you with your starting issues mate, I've chased so many intermittent faults on various cars over the years it's soul destroying but it's great when you do sort it.

Got to say as well I'm glad it's not only me that's OCD with trying to get non essential items working :D Oh and I've finally found another Corrado with a wonky ashtray - that's something insignificant that's doing my head in with mine

Oh no sorry mate - it's something that's bugged me about mine for ages and everyone else's seemed to sit perfectly. Mine is accentuated by the oil and volt gauges now as well. I keep saying to myself I can live with it and I've got bigger fish to fry but it's always there in the corner of my eye nagging at me

Keep at it though mate - yours really is a stunner :)

Well the car is still drying out ,with the help of a dehumifier. So to day I removed the front seat on the passenger side to get to the carpets underneath . At the same time I thought I may as well start removing the rear seats so I could get to the door cards as some of the fixings were broken and this sort of thing grates my ocdness . I had bought new fixings so it all went back in nice and tight . Once the carpets and soun deadening has dried out I can fit all the front plastics back and it will start to look like a car again .She is still starting first time so that's great I hope it stays that way !

Fingers crossed buddy! How annoying would that be though, after all the heartache and expense, it was all down to a dodgy earth! :bad-words:

Thought i would put a little update in , nothing major ,only a few interior jobs , but it crosses some more work off the list .

Managed to get the carpets and sound deadening dryed out .

And fit the broken handbreak tunnel solution .The interior is all back in now including the drivers side undertray and fusecover ,these had to come out so the auto electrician could get a good look at everything . Oh and she is still starting !!!!!!

Thought i would add a little update . I will very soon have the dough to get a fresh mot and tax . Before hand i will be purchasing some mk4 rear brakes . I have a few bits to fit like a powder coated wiper arm that sits under the scuttle . A trip up the Devon dub shack this week to order some pressed plates . The car will be going in to the bodyshop shortly afterwards to have the bonnet repainted because of some suface rust on the lip above the headlight and fit the new bonnet foam, i also have some spidering of paint on the top of the rear bumper . I also have to sort the pull pins and rods on the locks as they are tight and will not sit right . Really looking forward to getting the car back on the road now , its so frustrating , with all the bad weather , just cant get anything done at all .

Only a little update. Rear brake conversion parts all ordered .I have a neighbour who works for kwik fit, so it makes sense to give him all the mk4 stuff ,fit it and do the mot at the same time . Also i will be getting a 90s Kenwood headunit from Chris Langers , although i love the VR6 sound track it will be nice to have some tunes in the car , i have not had a unit in there for nearly three years now .Hopefully booking the mot for this weekend , but only if all the bits turn up this week , otherwise it will be next weekend , although with this pants weather theres no rush . Also fitted the top part of the handbrake tunnel i got from Mr Clumpy [thanks mate]. As said after that its off to the paint shop for a little work . Then if i cant get the plastic joiners that hold the door rods on i will take it to Devon dub shack to sort it , there are a few interior issues that need attention . He has a mate thats taken half the workshop over and specialises in t4 /t5 conversions . Its not that i have not tried to sort the issues , but im not happy with some of the plastics , the way they are fitted . I just cant seem to get them to sit right . Im to ocd for my own good sometimes !, but the little things really niggle me .

Have you a pic of the plastic joiners for the door rods? If it's the ones I'm thinking of they are available on ebay.

I have two sets of them Paddy , just find them a bit difficult to fit ,unless im missing a trick . The door pin that attaches to the door rod ends up to tight against the leather door cards .

How much did the mk4 stuff set you back rob?

Total cost was around £180.00 mate . It would have been cheaper but i ordered the hoses from a different place and vdubmachine was cheaper .

I can post a pic of mine tomorrow if you want. I haven't got the drivers door card fitted yet as I can't find the bracket for the door pocket.
