SIMONG 0 Posted November 1, 2010 the amount of time and omney your gonna spend on a conversion you could put into your engine and get relativly same "useable" power and being an 8v that bit more reliably. start trying to get big power all the time out of a 20vt and they tend to go pop! a G60 has got a lot more about it than a 20vt BUT thats only my opinion. as to "avin a do" with other cars it doesnt really bother now i have the G i just take it easy. there was a LADS (subaru) meet over in preston and i was just plodding along heading towards a dul carriage when not really paying to much attention and then next thing got this impreza up my ass. and another two behind him and a couple more few cars ahead. then remembered my bro talkin about this meet. got onto this dual carrage way and thought ahh screw it and tonked it. they certanally didnt pass me and didnt seem to make any head way on catchin me! and was think yeah screw you mr impreza! ben_wooduk 0 Posted November 1, 2010 Somewhere on a Ford forum there is an RS owner posting a thread along the lines of... "I was booting it hard and I was really struggling to catch the guy up. I finally managed to do it and as I got close I realised the car I was chasing was nearly 20 years old and with almost half the power of my RS. I was a little disappointed tbh so what can I do to get more power? The fekin thing looked damn nice too... never knew those sciroccos were so capable for their age"
coullstar 0 Posted November 1, 2010 We were at a works karting day earlier in the summer with a 40mile drive home on A-roads. The guy that left behind me had one of the green ones and I was just taking it easy so he blasted past. I soon caught up and he was going for it whilst I'll be honest I wasnt pushing that hard. After going past a couple of mobile camera's I slowed down. Saw the guy at work on the Monday and he said he was giving it bell ting and couldnt believe my old car could keep up. He wasnt happy when I told him I wasnt really pushing it :D . I still love new cars though and if I only had to run one car it would be something new. Veearrhsix 0 Posted November 1, 2010 I have to write this, but in early days of owning the VR, around midnight, on joining empty motorway junction to join M60, had a nice run off away from an Audi A8 pre-hand. Left it for dust at traffic lights a while back, but wasn't trying or making a point - just enjoying myself... Next minute the black Audi A8 had caught up on joining the M60. I was already flooring it, and it left me for dust... Must've been a W8 or something but it had soon buggered off into the distance... Needless to say I kinda felt :pale: like a flaccid ex-porn star after that experience. Do these things have bi-turbos?
Veearrhsix 0 Posted November 1, 2010 Keeping above ^ related to your thread Neokitz, yeah it's a sh*ter when it happens but you're in a rado so who cares.

You can get all sorts of engines in them.. think you can get the A8 with a 6.0 W12 engine - and that would annhilate you effortlessly. The current S8 has a detuned version of the Gallardo V10 in it ffs!

Danny B 0 Posted November 1, 2010 The day you realise your Corrado is definately not the fastest thing on the road is a killer  Unfortunately, and dispite some rather blinded forum members views, the corrado with any standard engine just isnt that fast anymore :( ....... gutting I know fella and I feel your pain, but unfortunately even up against rather mundane cars, let alone a RS, most corrados will struggle !! The worst for me was being blown away by a Lexus Hybrid 4x4 thingy at the lights ....... left me baffled for weeks :brickwall:
Critical_Mass 10 Posted November 1, 2010 Found that out myself Danny, its a bitter pill to swallow. But the sooner you realise it the quicker you'll get over it  After all your driving a corrado, which looks damn good, its not all about speed. Though that doesnt necessarily stop me from trying to give my VR more power  :D The Focus RS, although i can appreciate it mechanically, its a bit larey and in your face for my liking. The ST looks better.

BLCSO 0 Posted November 1, 2010 I wouldn't worry about it, any numpty can drive flat out down a dual carriageway.. Get him on a nice twisty A road. That will sort the men from the boys
pummer67 0 Posted November 2, 2010 i would be careful trying to lose the rs. As you take it further and further and its still behind you once your well over the speed limit you will suddenly see these blue lights flashing in the grill and realise its an undercover police car. I have seen 2dif colour ones in my area. So leave them for stink to just over the speed limit then ease off and let them go by. If they then still going like the clappers you go for it again. Kempy 0 Posted November 2, 2010 I whooped a Q7 recently up a hill for about a mile in my valver, so I still think mines the fastest car on the road lol. aint raced much else
Kevin Bacon 5 Posted November 2, 2010 Unfortunately, and dispite some rather blinded forum members views, the corrado with any standard engine just isnt that fast anymore :( ....... I realised that over 7 years ago when I first bought my VR6. It was completely standard and dog slow. In fact, the ropey old D reg 325i I traded in against it felt quicker!. That's why it's turboed now. Someone has got to maintain the image that VR6s are fast, haven't they? :D I wouldn't worry about it, any numpty can drive flat out down a dual carriageway.. Get him on a nice twisty A road. That will sort the men from the boys  Unfortunately Corrados no longer cut it on the B roads either, without some fairly extensive chassis improvements. B roads are usually about the size of the walnuts you're packing, rather than the car's ability.
wy906 0 Posted November 2, 2010 .....B roads are usually about the size of the walnuts you're packing, rather than the car's ability. and IMO more importantly 'local knowledge'. On the great scheme of things, VR6 isn’t all that ‘slow’ (assuming suspensions and brakes are sorted and with good tyres) but for sure it isn’t the quickest thing on the road either. Extra 50 bhp would be nice. I just can’t see myself spending £1-2k for the extra horses especially my car’s engine has been running pretty smoothly (touch wood, anti-jinx etc); also there are so many other nice cars that I’d like to try/own one day. Yep local knowledge is definitely important and being in front is harder. The person behind just follows your racing lines, so it comes back down to the kahunas again and how desperate you are to shake off the twig behind. Agreed, the VR6 isn't the fastest thing out there at the moment, but when it was launched 17 years ago, it was up there with the best. When you drive a freshly overhauled one, you can see why. Blistering A to B pace it may not have, but A to B driver involvement it has in spades, which is something a lot of cars which are faster on paper, lack. Don't get me wrong though, a well sorted Corrado is capable of some very impressive point to point speeds :D
Swompy 0 Posted November 2, 2010 I was having some fun with a BMW m3 e36 and I had no chance on the straights but on the corners he couldn't compete. It was a very twisty up hill road that I know like the back of my hand, I was flying up there and he just couldn't keep up, but as soon as it straightened up he was up on my bumper again. I had the bitter pill when I had a vauxhal vectra had me at some lights :( I was ahead untill I changes into 4 then he sailed by :(
BadBoyHiggins 0 Posted November 2, 2010 just to make you larf my mate has on of those focus st 300bhp chipped piles of sh!t and i had to give him a lesson in my R32 and whipped him to be honest he couldn't drive his finger up his arse but the funny thing he was in the pub at the weekend devastated as his engine had blown up i did try my best not to larf the car was only 3 years old UNLUCKY
WigsVR6 0 Posted November 2, 2010 I had a go with an early scooby at a set of lights on a dual carrageway I admit I had a bit of a rolling start we were neck and neck until we reached 80 then I eased off as we were in a 40 area and thought it wasnt worth the points. I was happy with that and patted the old girls steering wheel in appreciation/approval. Anyway come on you VRT owners what do you consider as fair game to race? Which cars out there do you love to humiliate? How do you compare with M3s and M5s performance wise? Its nice knowing that you are out there up holding the honour of the Corrado it will make drivers of cars mentioned above think twice about taking us on.
