Pat_McCrotch 0 Posted January 23, 2011 (edited) On http://www.vw-classicparts.de there is an option to request obselete parts to be reproduced. This is why, being a German brand/website, you will find lots of Corrado LHD bits and barely any RHD ones. Heres how we can try and get RHD parts reproduced; - Request on this thread what parts you want to be introduced (they must definately be obselete, don't post on hearsay) - Other members will source the part numbers via ETKA and we will post it on the first post of this thread, along with status and whether its available via Classic Parts or not. This is where we need you. It will be your responsibility to visit the link on http://www.vw-classicparts.de and send them a message via the 'Request a Part' link. Make sure you provide part numbers, asking that the parts be re-introduced for your restoration/daily car/whatever! Please note that any changes in status will be noted here, do not ask them for parts that are already available via them. It may be wise to check the numbers via the 'availability check' just before you email. The idea is that if we can get some decent numbers requesting the same parts we can finally get hold of parts which are becoming much harder to source :) List as of 24/01/2011 - Facelift Centre Console trim (houses centre vents, switches etc) Part # 536 863 241 D01C Status: Obsolete Classic Parts Response as of 24/08/2011: No plans to re-introduce. - Inner Door Scrapers for window (sit on top of door cards and usually break on leather cars) Near Side: 535 868 503 A01C Off Side: 535 868 503 A 01C Status: Obsolete Classic Parts Response as of 24/08/2011: Reproduction currently being investigated. - RHD Instrument Cluster Screw Covers Part #'s Near Side: 536 858 507 01C Off Side: 536 858 508 01C Status: Obsolete Classic Parts Response as of 24/08/2011: No plans to re-introduce. - RHD Door Handle Grips (facelift, non leather) Part #'s Near Side: 536 867 171 01C Off Side: 536 867 172 01C Status: Obsolete Classic Parts Response as of 24/08/2011: No plans to re-introduce. - Rubber door seals Part # 535 837 911A Status: Obsolete Classic Parts Response as of 24/08/2011: Reproduction currently being investigated. - Rear VR6 badge - chrome Part # 3A0 853 675 Z10 Status: Obsolete Update 29/02/11: Now available via http://www.vw-classicparts.de - Rear Corrado badge - chrome Part # 535 853 678 B GX2 Status: Obsolete Classic Parts Response as of 24/08/2011: No plans to re-introduce. - Front VR6 badge - chrome Part # 535 853 679 DGX2 Status: Obsolete Classic Parts Response as of 24/08/2011: No plans to re-introduce. - Rear VW badge Part # 357 853 601 WM7 Status: Available via http://www.vw-classicparts.de - Glovebox inner cover strip Part # 535 858 119 01C Status: Available via http://www.vw-classicparts.de - Front headlining cover strip: Part #'s 535 867 551 H50 - Grey Blue 535 867 551 1DH - Grey 535 867 551 9YH - Beige Status: Obsolete Classic Parts Response as of 24/08/2011: No plans to re-introduce. - Parcel shelf straps: Part # 535 863 447A Status: Obsolete Classic Parts Response as of 24/08/2011: No plans to re-introduce. - Wing mirror Glasses Part #'s 536 857 521A - Left 536 857 522A - Right Status: Left hand side still available via dealer. OllieVR6 0 Posted January 24, 2011 Great thread. How does this process work, do they need a certain amount of requests? What are the chances of parts going back into production?
KIPVW 0 Posted January 24, 2011 The little screw covers for the dash binnacle :) Corrado Chrome script badges too would sell like hotcakes..... 50mm chin spoiler. rear number plate plinth. :)
Yandards 0 Posted January 24, 2011 Just to clarify the rear number plate plinth, they are available on vw-classic parts so if they are on there they are not available at main dealers anymore. To get production started they do need a trigger point to run a batch through although you may find they charge a premium compared to the old prices; for instance the outer door seal strips that run along the top of the door cost roughly what they did before they went obsolete, a G60 radiator is now double what it used to cost. For me it would have to be the little black screw cover caps that go in the screws on the doorcards.

Supercharged 2 Posted January 24, 2011 do they still sell late headlight lenses? when i last got one the chap was telling me there wasn't many left They've always been available mate - they can't tell stock status, he just meant in the UK as thye always keep a central stock of things like this as they are 'consumables' Guys - we really need to keep this thread to things we know are obselete rather than flooding it with questions. vr6storm 0 Posted January 24, 2011 Vr6 Radiator Cowling (not sure if available or not) the fan cowling? if so i picked one up from VW easily enough(albeit it did have to get ordered from Germany) late last year
Kevin Bacon 5 Posted January 24, 2011 You might be able to use the cowling from a MK3 Golf VR6. It's plastic and a little taller, but I reckon it could be adapted to fit.
