James. 9 Posted August 11, 2011 There are no promises - but i can say we will act on your behalf and pass the word to VW Classic Parts, or consider taking on the challenge ourselves. What success rate do you have with this ? And what do you mean by taking the challenge on ourselves ?

Andy@VWH 10 Posted August 12, 2011 What success rate do you have with this ? And what do you mean by taking the challenge on ourselves ? James, we have been instrumental in getting the Mk1 Golf wings back in production. VW Classic parts dept have been very keen to hear our thoughts, as with a lot of the watercooled parts our ears are closer to the ground. We do also get parts manufactured ourselves, some rubbers, small repair panels, alloy wheels etc, so if there was a demand for a particular part there is a chance VW Heritage may produce it. (this is less likely with 'rado parts, as the market is fairly small in comparison to the Golf for example, but not out the question.) Please keep the ideas flowing - i'm going to start looking into them - you may be suprised, some of them might already be available - for example we have 90mm splitters on the shelf ;) C535-805-903/B/2BC is the part number, they are £142.32 retail, however we give clubs 5% off, so that'll include you guys, and save a few pounds! Thanks for the input and warm welcome thus far! Andy

Thanks for the input and warm welcome thus far! Andy Thanks for the positive reply Andy. Always great to hear from someone with waves of enthusiasm. Regarding parts. If the next twelve months is going to be like the last twelve (in regard to parts becoming obsolete), you're going to be a very busy individual indeed. My main concern surrounding obsolete parts is mechanical items. Trim doesn't stop the car from running. But radiators, sensors etc do. Which then ties in with numbers. As more and more cars are removed from service, there's less need for parts support. I don't plan to sell the VR6 any time soon. But there is always a niggle in the back of my mind surrounding parts availability in the years to come. I'm just glad that the conversation is being had now, instead of ten years from now. I look forward to seeing what you can bring to the table. All the very best, James
OSV 0 Posted August 12, 2011 Theres usually a solution for mechanical issues given the engines and oily bits were more widely used throughout the VAG range, Corrado trim and bodywork however is unique to the model and will present the biggest challenge to keeping cars in top condition. Alex_G60_Fanatic 0 Posted August 12, 2011 Another one i've been thinking off is the rear bumper Iron... Often gets rusty leaving a good condition plastic bumper falling off due to rusty mounting points.

Purple Tom 0 Posted August 12, 2011 Everyone, do you think its worthwhile spending a bit of time on VagCat or Wagenstad and actually getting the part numbers for the bits you'd like to see reproduced? Andy did say that part numbers would be extra helpful and I can't see this being the only VW-based forum that he's on. The requests must be piling up so how about doing a bit of research, getting the part numbers and then posting them up? I only say that because he must already have 20 items to request, and finding the part numbers for them sometimes isn't a 5 minute job, so better to have the P/N than throw a request in for some random items like 'obsolete wiper linkage parts' (not picking on you specifically mort1414, just the first one I saw) Only trying to help a bit :-)
mort1414 0 Posted August 12, 2011 no worries will dig the part numbers out now think theres a thread on here somewhere i guess my post was just a quick note to see if anyone one else was interested as they are its worth tracking the numbers down if no one else was interested there wasnt much point tracking all the part numbers down ---------- Post added at 09:20 PM ---------- Previous post was at 09:12 PM ---------- Shaft 536955216 Shaft 536955215 Rod 536955326 are the obsolete wiper parts. mort
