Supercharged 2 Posted August 3, 2004 dinkus, just bear in mind that if say a week or so after it comes out the body shop you 'notice' any problems around the suspension area that were a result of the accident, they'll have to renew those also under insurance...

Might get them to do that at the same time as they're gonna have pretty much the whole side of the car off anyway.

dinkus 10 Posted August 16, 2004 Dragging this thread back up to the top to give you the latest update... The C went in this morning for it's surgery. They're also going to de-ding and respray the car where necessary. And also take out the nice jack-shaped dent I made in the sill  he did say they'd bash it out as far as possible and use filler to make it up the rest of the way, which err scared me a bit. I'm going to talk to him again before they underake that though. The extra work will be £340 and the whole job will take 2-2.5 weeks! So hopefully I'll get it back in time for Edition 38. We shall see though. After it comes back from the bodyshop I'm taking her up to Stealth to get pretty much the entire rear of the car replaced - brakes, bearings, axle bushes, shocks, springs and wishbones too. But my dilemma is... do I get after market suspension? Firstly, my insurance is with elephant, are they going to freak and charge me loads extra if I stick some aftermarket suspension on? Second, if I'm going to replace all the front suspension as well then I'd want to do the bushes too... I did the top mounts and brakes already, what else should I do while I'm in there? (kevhaywire school of thinking I'm afraid!)
Scott 0 Posted August 16, 2004 Firstly....Elephant wont like mods... NOoooooooooo Secondly....go and see Vince at Stealth and repeat after me: Vince can you throw your magic wand at my VR6 please? - Here is a blank cheque to sort it   8)
Jim 2 Posted August 16, 2004 Be prepared for a bit of a wait at Stealth. They are a bit busy atm - when I asked to get something checked on my car at the start of August, Vince said the earliest would be mid September before they could get me in :(
Kevin Bacon 5 Posted August 16, 2004 Yep, 20th September is the soonest he can get me in for the cams......

They shouldn't, I'm with them now as I wanted to protect my 4 year NCB and declared all mods, only added about £50 to the price...

Ho hum, at least I've got lots to be doing in the mean time. I think I'm gonna go for standard suspension for now, my insurance is gonna cost the earth anyway and it would also mean I need to do the front as well as the back. It can wait for another time when I can afford it I think :)

I guess thats what happens when word of mouth starts doing the rounds and you get a reputation for doing good work - thats like a 6 or 7 week wait!! It wasn't all that long ago that it was only a week or two to get booked into Stealth! Think they need some more guys and a bigger workshop :D

dinkus 10 Posted September 5, 2004 After Supercharged pointing out I spelt Ipswich incorrectly in the title, I've changed that  As far as the repair goes, the C was supposed to be ready on Friday, but they still need to do the geometry and apparently that's what they have been sent the wrong plastic brackets to hold the central locking pins in for the fuel cap. They seem to think that I *may* have bent the rear axle as the wheel isn't sitting right in the arch, but it doesn't look too bad to me. I won't know for sure until they put it on the jig and test it though. Anyhoo, here is what that panels look like at the moment (not very good pics I'm afraid) I have 2 issues that I might be taking up with the bodyshop: The crease down the drivers door looks like it's been rounded off a little, so it doesn't look the same all along the car. The paint on the rear quarter looks a little ripply, but I need to see what it looks like in a few days time after it's had time to set properly. Either way, if it aint perfect, they're doing it again...

Supercharged 2 Posted September 5, 2004 That crease looks very strange but I think its just the camera angle... Its an insurance job so all the work is gaurantee'd for a few years so even if you take it and aren't happy, just ring them up and get it booked back in or ask to go somewhere else... That Sill looks a bit of a mess also :?

That Sill looks a bit of a mess also :? Good point, we shall see though. I only had a quick look over, grabbed some pics and left again, so a closer inspection is needed methinks. The sill does still look a bit of a mess when you get down on the floor, but it was a big bent mess to start with (yay for the scissor jack  ) I don't really mind too much about it, as it's not noticable unless you're actually down on your hands and knees. It does bother me that the little notch indicating the jacking point has gone.. it makes me worry how much filler is in there... :?

kvwloon 0 Posted September 5, 2004 [ We overtook you?? I didn't realise we overtook any other C's!? Where and when was it? Oh, maybe it wasn't you then, I just assumed from the positive gestures as it went past and pulled off on to slip road, towards Cambridge, and it was a 306 etc.... I now realise I've admitted to being over-taken by a Peugeut 306 on the Forum needlessly!, yeouwch
