  1. Well thread closed for me unless others want to post ideas for others. I found the Evolva for £79.99 on Amazon and considering it will last the kids until they're 12 it's not such bad value after all vs. other seats and at least I know this one will fit! Cheers Matt
  2. Thank you. That looks like it will do the trick but yep expensive. I’ll probablt not get a couple for less than those. I’ll await more replies in hope... :)
  3. Hi, I need to buy a couple of car seats for my Corrado for my girls – a 2 and 4 year old (she’s not far off 5 so seats past 4 years old would be better). What are you guys running? Last time I bought seats I was able to narrow down my selection using online seat finders but the Corrado doesn’t seem to feature on their lists. Bless ‘em - I need to sort this out pronto as they’re both itching to be taken out in my new car! Cheers Matt
  4. Thanks Guy, i'm ok with a bit fettling/heat gun action to get it to fit. I have however decided I no longer need the passat wiper motor cover - i've been advised it doesn't clear the bonnet so no good to me.
  5. Hi, After a couple of things Wiper Motor Cover & the Mk2 Scuttle tray if any one has them lying about to sell that would be great. Thanks, Matt
  6. Thanks - mk2 jobby sounds like the way to go and hopefully parts prices are cheaper.
  7. Hi, Not sure if I am missing some trim but by wiper motor is exposed, including the wire connectors. I opened my bonnet whilst wet yesterday and the motor and wires got covered in water. I'd like to source a scuttle cover or a wiper motor cover but haven't had much luck on googling. VW heritage are out of stock/not in production on the left side scuttle cover and I found on here some references to a passat B3 wiper motor cover but again can't find anywhere to buy one! I wasn't much of a fan of that aftermarket one piece scuttle (is it SKS or something). I'm going for OEM on this car or probably eventually OEM+. Any suggestions? Cheers all Matt
  8. Nice Storm and good work on the bits you've done. I will need to do the headlining on my own at some point - thanks for the link.
  9. Thanks - replied and cheers for taking the time to do this. Much appreciated.
  10. I’ve been doing some reading on this forum where it seems the standard undersealing is pretty good and I suppose it is as it’s lasted 23 years and my only corrosion is around the jacking points. I also picked up that undersealing the entire car could look like I am trying to hide something come resale. I’m now thinking I should just patch repair the jacking points and save myself the cash on undersealing. Hopefully the money I have available will allow me to fix the others patches of rust I have.
  11. Yeah that would great - thank you
  12. Hey I’m looking to have the rust spots repaired and I would like the underside cleaned down and resealed with Waxoyl or similar, inc injecting into hard to reach parts. I just want to ensure it stays solid under there but am on a learning curve with bodywork.
  13. Thanks Cressa for the tips :) Yeah take a look at the pics when you get a mo. I've got about a £grand spare for bodywork so hoping i can get the undersealing done and the rust fixed. I am lucky my rust is in locations not on show.
  14. I picked up my Corrado last weekend and starting to make my list of jobs to do. I’ve popped a post-up in the newbie thread with some pictures of the car. This car is already a keeper I love it! So refreshing to drive after years of dreary 4 pot diesels, some of them supposedly “sporty”. I bought the car with a few bits to do, it looks lovely bodywork wise and has benefited from a blow over spray which is mostly good but there are couple of niggles where masking wasn’t tight enough against trim. In terms of exterior work I thought it would be great to get your guys tips and recommendations so thought I’d list the things I’ve come across: 1.The door sills /door aperture have some rust under the plastic kick trim. It looks like water collects here and I was thinking this was because the door seals needed replacing? I’ve seen the seals thread but before I part with £80 quid I wanted get your opinions. I will get the rust repaired too. 2.Terminology question – I noticed one of the previous MOT’s said “rear sub frame has surface rust but not structurally weakened” or something similar. When I looked under the car the rear axle beam appears to have been painted in something black and looks good to me, is this the part they refer to as the rear sub frame? The rest of the underneath looks pretty good to me but I am no expert – there’s some surface scabs around the front jack points but I can’t stick a screw driver through any of it or flake anything off, some not so great pictures attached. I would like to catch it now and get it fixed though. 3.Undersealing – any recommendations on where to get this done? I’m under the impression it might be a good idea to keep it sweet. I’m based in South Hertfordshire but don’t mind a bit of travel. From what I’ve read I think I am looking at about £500 to get it cleaned, injected and undersealed? It would be good if anyone knew of a place that could fix the rust patches on my sills, jacking points and additional a 10pence piece sized scab on the sunroof & around the drain holes on my boot lid too. 15. Cheers Mark, sounds fiddly and I should buy some spare lock barrels to practice on.
  16. Hey all, I've got 2 keys but each with a different profile. I assume the ignition was replaced at some point, how do I go about matching the doors to the ignition and then I can just cut the other key to match. I'm guessing changing the lock barrels on the doors and boot is the answer but how/who does this :) ? Cheers Matt

    Code Reader

Hi, I know about Vag-Com/ but what sub £50 alternatives are recommended to read fault codes? I also have a SEAT Exeo and it would be good if the tool could work on both cars (I know I'll need a 2x2 adapter for the Corrado). Once I've found codes where do I go about diagnosing what they mean? I understand Vag-Com has descriptions/help guides on fault codes, but I might be wrong there. Cheers Matt
  18. Haha, my engine bay is not that tidy. That must have been a lot of work to get it that perfect.
  19. Hi all, New owner here - I've posted in the newbie forum with some pictures. I've got some rust on sills/door aperture and have noticed whilst cleaning that water collects here. I'm wondering what's causing water to end up sitting down here - is it door seals? Mine look old.. pictures of the rust attached. The plan is to get the rust repaired and have the underside fixed up and undersealed. I've taken some pictures (not that great) and it would be good to get opinions. I don't think it's too bad and I think it's just on the surface as i can't poke through anything so hopefully I am going to catch it all in time. The rear beam looks like it's been painted in something black too, not sure what - hammerite like - would that be just cosmetic or to offer greater protection? In terms of terminology - what is the front and rear subframe? One of the MOT's said the rear was "corroded but not seriously weakened". Is that the thing I'm calling the rear beam that has been painted black? I've not had a classic for 15 years and I'm looking forward to getting back into working and looking after my car. Cheers for any help and I hope one day I'll be able to offer some in return once I get going! 21. Thanks for the welcome guys. Yes bodywork and undersealing + any repairs is the top of the list. I'm just waiting on getting it serviced before using it.
  22. Hey all, Newbie here. Just picked up a totally standard '95 N Reg Candy White VR6. Seems rare in it's colour combo and I quite like my semi rare cars; my daily driver is a '13 Seat Exeo Sport tech which most people haven't heard of! Seems to be in good overall condition with lots of history. Couple of nice little surprise 1) the First Aid kit still in it's original shrink wrap nad 2) it still has its original number plate surrounds along with delivery paperwork. Just waiting to get her serviced before I give her a proper run (although she survived the 60 mile drive back from the seller just fine). Couple of rust scabs in the door sills (underneath some plastic trim), guessing it needs new door seals and against some rust around the drain holes on the boot lid. Plans are to keep it standard but tidy up rust patches and get it undersealed. Longer term I'll see how the engine holds up but it sounds fine and doesn't appear to puff any of the blue stuff! She's done 150k and has mostly had yearly services. No paperwork of chains or engine work. I expect to rebuild at some point but hopefully that will be a few years away. I live in Hertfordshire (Potters Bar). The car also has a Corrado Club GB sticker on the back so i've signed up there too. It would be nice to talk to one of the previous owners if they are still on there. Pictures to follow.
