1. Ahh Geeba found the part you mentioned and I can now see the little wheel and where has gone wrong - the bodyshop had one 3d printed and I can see it in there now (I think it is the blue one where as the other side is black). Couple of (out of focus - sorry) pics: The blue one is sitting in the channel where as the black one on the RH side is sitting out of the channel.... which one is in the right place :bonk: I'm guessing the blue one is wrong so I need to somehow get it out of the channel and find the hole to superglue the plastic over. Thanks! Matt
2. Thanks Sean and Geeba. Couple of tricks there. Sean on the mk3 if I went for a glass lid instead would that allow me use the mk3 louvre? Geeba - I’ll inspect my unit and figure out which one is broken. The old broken unit I believe is out of a Passat so someone has been here before!
3. Ahh that would be perfect if cheaper - this one was £170 + £50 for a motor. I didn't realise the Mk3 mech would fit. I'm not too bothered if it's a Corrado one or not - just want something that works! Thanks for tip Matt
4. Hi guys, I bought a "working" replacement sunroof from a chap that breaks Corrado's. It was delivered and installed at my bodyshop as my old one broke (a small wheel came off of the mech). The body shop couldn't get the sunroof to ever work - it lifts up but won't pull back. I took the car back with it broken. I've been in contact with the guy that sold it to me and he's not really that interested - he suggests I watch some youtube video's on adjusting the mechanism. I'm chalking it as experience as the price you pay (+scene tax) for secondhand parts through facebook. I was just desperate to get my car back and as I don't have a garage I wanted to source one quickly to get it fixed at the bodyshop. As it turns out it's pretty simple and I'm happy installing and uninstalling the mech at home and have kept the roof lining off to resolve this. So I've had the panel off and lubed it all up with silicon sunroof grease. The mech pulls down to go back off of the motor and either gets stuck/jammed or clonks and moves back. If I try with the allen key there is too much resistance to overcome to pull it back. I think the bit that is getting stuck is this part on both sides (can't upload via the attachment thingy on here and this is picture of my old roof): https://photos.app.goo.gl/Hfi9kbWsdsJcywtT7 Is it possible to adjust the cables to make it slide back - what might the seller mean by adjusting it? If this is just BS I'm happy to take my old sunroof apart and replace broken parts as it will be a good learning exercise anyway. Assume you can't buy new parts anymore and I'll have to try find another roof to replace whatever is broken on my one? Which brings me on to my old roof: the body shop said a wheel broke off but I can't see where this would go and what I'd need to replace. Here's a couple of pictures of the hammer things on my old sunroof but I can't see where these wheel things would go! A bit of pickle aye. Cheers for any help Matt
5. Ah well it was an enjoyable read and you’ve done most of the things I want to do! Re the exhaust I lm considering one - unsure if I should go res or non res and I wanted to see how it sits on the car. I like OEM+ as a theme and want the exhaust to sound more sporty/grunty and some burbles would be nice.
6. That does sound more like a fuelling problem Rob. The way I understand it is the FPR is supposed to maintain rail pressure for (days?) so when you start from cold there's some fuel in the lines to get it going and then pumped fuel from the tank takes over. Does it start quickly but just splutter? i.e. not crank and crank? Maybe check the state of the fuel filter and replace in case of a infrequent blockage?
7. Hi Sean, Read as much as I can of the thread - good work and an inspiration to me as I start this journey! I was after a picture of your exhaust but couldn't find it in the thread. Do you have one handy or point in the page number range :) I've also got the B12 set to go on and I'm worried about the rear springs. How did you end up - the picture of the car on your drive looked nice and level after fitting :) Cheers Matt
8. I've bought one too and why not at that price! I have a similar issue - starts fine cold and immediately restarts fine when hot. Leave it for 5mins and it'll crank 10+ times and then fire up. I've also bought a new coil pack (car is a rough idle and miss fires a little) in attempt to resolve so will fit these separately and see what happens.

Porsche seats...

They look epic - as though they were meant to be! How do they sit height wise compared to the originals and where did you get the base from? Cheers, Matt
10. Sorry thread resurrection - okay to mix the coolant with plain water from the tap or buy distilled water? Also what's the best best method to get air out of the system on a VR6? Noticed mine was full of air following a change of the header tank by my mechanic. Could hear it gurgling whilst in traffic and my coolant temps wouldn't go over 70 degrees. I removed the expansion cap whilst cold and let it run for a bit and now my temp gauge reads around 85 degrees but pretty sure there's still some air in the system. I didn't want to leave the cap off for long incase it all bubbled over. Thanks, Matt
11. Thank you for checking. One less thing for me to fix at least! Cheers Matt
12. Possibly - where's the best place to check? It comes up as a 2.8 on my OBDelevan device as well. If it was a 2.8 ECU would that cause any problems - like less power etc.? Cheers, Matt
13. Nice Corrado and good to have you back in the fold. I too have had Seat's that won't drive straight! First was an 05 Ibiza Sport, Second was a 60 Leon FR and lastly and my current family car is a '13 Exeo. The Exeo I've managed to sort out with a proper alignment (but it is an Audi A4 really so maybe that's why) however the other two I could never resolve. They felt as though they "crabbed" when going straight. Perhaps they are set up for Europe's heavily cambered motorways. I like the car history none the less though, cheers for posting. Shame you had some bad luck. My brother has had a couple of the M135i's and they're both nice motors. Edit to add the Seat's were owned from new or sub six months old - you're right new cars have their traits just like older ones. It's just with newer ones you have to pay a fortune and lose a fortune for the privilege. I like the chaps idea who runs a Touareg, Audi Cab and Corrado :)
14. Hi, Just purchased a vcds (lite) cable and had a play with looking at the live values on the Corrado. I have a couple of niggles with the engine - 1/ hard to start once warmed and actually after it's been sitting in the Sun from cold in the circa 30 degree temps we have! 2/ idle fluctuates - can feel but can't see it on the tacho - log shows it jumping 20/30rpm. It also feels like it misses ever so slightly as I revved it to circa 2500rpm. I don't really notice it whilst driving but it's always been like it since owning the car. Laptop battery went dead so file ended abruptly. I thought the blue coolant sensor might be duff to solve issue 1/ but the logged temps looked fine - what do you guys think? I'm not sure what the idle issue is. Also notice the Ignition BTDC jumps all over the place - is that normal? Lastly the engine registers as a 2.8 - I thought it was a 2.9. Guess it could have had an engine change - is vcds accurate at reading the right engine?
15. I use both. FB is great for instant chat and lots of pictures. The forum is slower but easier to find historic stuff via the search i.e. how do i do xyz -> search and there is likely a thread on it. The only downside is all the pictures people put in their old threads have now disappeared. I don't find it easy to find old threads on FB.
16. I have some that look exactly the same as that in my car. They fit the shape well but I find the drivers one slips out of position easily. It has a couple of holes to put clips in but I don't have any and I don't really want to put holes in my carpet.
17. And here they are - look great. Will put them on later
18. I emailed Julian @ Heritage and ordered a clear set. DPD text says they will be here within an hour :)
19. Thanks for the list of part numbers and prices! I’ll have a go at extra lubrication. Seems an Octavia roof might be the answer if parts are this hard to come by. Or leave it broken until spare parts are made again/or if not watch the corrado rot into the ground.
20. Thanks. Yes this is a replacement mechanism for one that broke - one of the wheel things came off the hammer thing. I’ll try grease but seems to be on borrowed time. I’ve seen an Octavia Mk1 sunroof from the estate will fit with a little trimming of the light surround and a small re wire jobby. They are not scene taxed either!
21. Hi, I’ve put a new mech in and the sunroof is operating off of the motor (now I’ve calibrated it). The only issue I have is there’s a clonk/resistance when I retract it - it drops down fine but then clonks/resistance, then moves all the way back smoothly. It’s all lined up and once it has passed the clonk it goes all the way back. Could this be a case of the cables needing more lube? Realise there are many threads and I’ve browsed but haven’t come across my problem. Stumped! Cheers Matt
22. Doesn’t appear to jam or move out of alignment - it drops down to start retracting but then just stops. There’s resistance when I try with the Allen key as well. Just had a thought - is the motor clever enough to work out where the roof mech is in relation to its last known position on the motor? I wonder if the motor thinks it’s got to the end of the retraction but hasn’t in reality. The other thing I was going to do at the weekend was remove the metal sunroof lid and see if it works without it. Just incase it is catching and I’ve it noticed.

24. Thanks! yes it is back now and it didn’t cost as much as i thought it might. Just have an issue with the sunroof not retracting to solve.
25. Hi guys thanks for the interest but not for sale now.
