Def one of those jobs that is worth getting a fixed price and calling experienced VW specialist. The last owner had it done down south it would prob be 20/30 % cheaper in the Midalnds.
-
I wouldnt get to overwhelmed by it old cars always leak a bit of oil in the engine bay. If you want to be proactive you could have a compression test for the head gasket which wouldnt cost much. I have attached a receipt to give you an idea of what would be replaced if the timing chains were done. Will also be really good for the cars value.

Would crank seal be commonly changed when changing the timing belt because I believe the gearbox has to be removed.
-
Run your finger under the Manifold breather hose and see if there is any oil , its not a huge lot of oil but over time can lead to an oily engine bay.
-
Looking more like £1600 for parts and laboour for new seals chains guides etc. My new Rado chains done by the last owner and that was how much it cost him on receipt at a VW specialist /independent september 2018.I would not use a mobile mechanic for a large job like this personally. Are you sure its not coming from the oil sump or not the oil cooler , also oil filter housing check pressure switches and figure of 8 gasket. Also a fair bit of oil over time can leak out of the breather hose attached to the PCV vavle and intake as the engines are getting old.

Early VR6 dont have the PVC Valve I beleive maybe they dont work as well these fitted god knows.

Its a nightmare I have two flatbed pickups I use at works and its on the cards in Birmigham. All it will do is congest the main road circling the charge zone and move the pollution closer to the residential area(steering around the congestion charge). The whole idea is a new tax to replace the loss on income on cigs and alchol with the changing generation of snowflakes that stay in eat a pack crisps getting fat while posting on there facebook page. For ****e sake the rados have a catalaitic converter its a con and I hate that London Mayor setting an example to all the other major cities. We dont have an underground like London we dont like catching the bus , I dont want a new car that is a bubble piece of throw away crap.

Hi, just to let you know the bolt must of supereseded the alen bolt even though it does not show this on etka. It fits fine and I prefer a hex bolt then an alen key as less lightly to strip the head . Just to confuse you even more N 01021527 part number has been superseded by part number N01-021-533.
-
Yes it is the clutch slave and you would have to undo the bolt for anything to come out, all sorted now lads fitted anew cam sensor and shrick working, car is driving lovley.
-
Right I have sorted it, the hose I circled was not the hose that was lose, the hose I circled is actualy joined to vacum hose in a T formation as another member mentioned:bonk:, the loose hose just fell out of the back of the reservoir and now connected. Still going to see Vince to check everything is running ok because it might have a dogy flap like my ex.
-
Ha glad I checked first Ive pulled it off and called Vince, going to pop down there this saturday, pretty excited to get it up and running correctly to see what the difference the shrick makes. The Reservoir is attached to a T junction hose that goes to vacum pipe from the brake server so just got to get this open hose connected somewhere !
-
Ill contact Stealth and see what he says but it does say on the instructions to attach the open hose to the brake server.
-
Thanks Fen, Think I have sorted it out, the hose can move only so far in the engine bay becuase of the legnth, and I found a nipple that must have something to to do with the brakes as its attached to the abs pump and the hose fitted on correctly . Please let me know if this is wrong fellow members. Thanks Attached picture

Well there is not one out there for sale at the moment ( standalone) but I noticed there is one for sale on a green VR6 on ebay. You could always put an offer on the car and then swop the inlet manifold and sell it on ? https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/VW-CORRADO-VR6-SCHRICK/352570281486?hash=item5216d38e0e:g:JLoAAOSwUu5cAjde:rk:1:pf:0 I think the hose is either meant to be attached to the brake server or its some kind of air escape???????? I have the original reciept from Stealth it was fitted in 2003 alongside a load of other stuff, Im not sure if the bill was just Labour as I know the Shrick cost a couuple of grand on its own. The bhp is running at 220 with chip apparently. So it could be with parts and labour the guy spent over 8 k on it in one foul swoop which was alot of bloody money in 2003 and still is . The shocks are now shot or just to harsh for my taste and the exhaust is a bit tatty. Got a Milltek catback, Bilstein plus eibach springs ready to fit.BMC has been taken off and replaced with an orinal airbox I sourced. Notice it says vsr not vgi im sure he just misdecribed it or the owner went from a VSR to a VGI manifold a some point . Attached original reciept out of interest.

Hi looking for a bit of Shrick knowledge off a fellow member so thanks in advance. The round solenoid valve centre of manifold is lifting a 4000 rpm as it should. However I noticed one of the hoses is not connected to anything is this correct ? . I have attached a picture and circled the hose in question. Cheers.

Thanks mate that is the part number I have ordered but the diagram it does not look like an alen key , has anybody changed there cam sensor latley was it an alen key bolt or a hex bolt. It will be arriving in a day or so it might be an alen key bolt. P.s Hortons seat has a variety of Rado discountinued bolts and four to five times cheaper then anyone else without mentioning other company names.
-
Glued the heads of the bolts back on what a disgrace, thank god you didnt buy a car off him or the steering wheel would of popped off !
-
They look the business mate not seen them on my Rado as getting the suspension done first. Good thing is they are period and look like stock . Mine came refurbished for £300 but centre are gunmetal grey with chrome surround, would prefer them looking stock to be honest. All I had to do was get some BBS centre caps and tyres. I wonder if they came diamond cut on the outer rim from factory like AMG Monoblocks that would look the bolloks..
-
Ive not long purchased a set of BBS RS 771 "16 split rims or known as the Golf anniversary alloys , cant wait to get them on the car and have some new Avon tyres on them. Below is a link of them but if you shop about you can get a good set for a few hundred (I did) bit of bargain really for split rims. I would not personally go any larger then 16. https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/4-VW-BBS-RS771-RS-771-Golf-Anniversary-Mk3-Mk4-Alloy-Wheels-5-Stud-16-6-5J-ET42/303022449050?hash=item468d8ba19a:g:S1oAAOSw3v5YoQnQ:rk:9:pf:0

Thanks for all your help mate. Just shows though always worth purchasing from the UK for the litlle more cost, for such an occurence of returning product and customer service.
-
Your probably right the Koni I bet are on the stiff setting because the car basically bounces over rough roads ha , I reckon if fitted in 2003 and 90 k miles since surely must be past it sell by date.
-
Right just come off the phone from larkspeed and mentioned returning and about the B3 shocks. He said 98% of the eibach lowering springs do fit correct height and will be so much better the Bilstein B3 springs. So Im going to chance it. As regards in using a B4 shock with a eibach lowering spring he said they are actually designed be used with oem shocks in mind , so Im happy about that as always hereing you need the B8 or B6 , I have B4 and Eibachs on a R129 which drives and sits amazing no bumps and really comfortable. Always disagreed with you need the stiffer shocks (with eibach springs) as retailers always push you to go for the more exspensive stiffer shocks. I base this on going no lower then 30mm. He did say H and R springs are much stiffer then eibach so a stiffer absorber would be required in this instance.
