  1. I used All Car Electronics when my ABS unit went awol. They let you try a unit and keep it if it solves the problem. For a cost of course! http://www.all-car-electronics.com/stock.html

    Air Inlet Pipe

VW wanted £85 for the valve and the whole inlet piping that is attached to it. Ford are my new friends now who only took me for£22 for just the bit I wanted. :D

    Air Inlet Pipe

Thanks for that. Will try them
  4. Hi all, I managed to break an air vent valve on my 94 Vr engine, its the one that connects the cam cover to the air inlet pipe. As usual VW want my lower arm for a new one as they supply the whole inlet piping. Is it possible to get just the valve on its own as it is just held in with a crimp clip? I think there was a thread on this a while back but can't find it with a search. Thanks to anyone that knows
  5. Have had this problem for ages in the summer only.....Hot engine and hot ambient temperature. Just a quiet click when turning the key. Have put an avo on the exciter lead and get 12v. New starter wasn't the cure. Have to park on a slope now to gently nudge the engine while trying to start it. Works every time so I am assuming something is warping with the heat in the starter area. Leave it to cool down and it eventually turns. Grrrrr
  6. On my '94 VR the only fault code to be thrown up by vag-com with the engine not running is 00513 Engine speed sensor.
  7. I have got an intermittent failure on vag-com so hopefully a clean of the contacts will see the end of problems. Otherwise I will just replace it. The cable guide on top of the coilpack just unclips so you shouldn't need to remove the whole coilpack assembly to gain access to the bolt.
  8. Ignore the last. Ten minutes and I found out for myself!!
  9. Thanks for that, will have a look. Is it hard wired into the multi plug or does it have a separate connector?
  10. Vag-com OBD2 in Redhill, Surrey. Will travel a short way to your local!
  11. Hi again all. Thought it had been a while since something went wrong with the VR! Vag com throws up cam position sensor open or short. Any body know how it is wired in and how deep it is buried in the head. Thanks in advance

  13. Had a Golf GTI Mk2 that kept clogging up the pump inlet strainer causing low pressure. Sump off and a clean. Regular oil changes stopped it.
  14. My Neice's hubby is in Chiddingstone causeway. Charcott Garage near Tonbridge. Done all mine. Ex BMW. Haven't got the No right now but will be home in a few days when I can let you have it.
  15. Nope. The piston is on a thread that makes the handbrake work. Needs winding in. Nigh on impossible without the correct tool, and just plain worth the 15-20 quid it costs.
  16. Just checked my postings of a while ago and it was relay 79 that threw up power B+. There are other 179 relays in the car if you want to check that one but I could only find the one 79 so couldn't swap to see if it cured things. A new 79 will do it!!
  17. How many relays have you got up in front of the glove box?
  18. Mine is a VR6. Just checking............It has a Teves 4 Sysyem
  19. Doh! Yup. The power supply for the whole ABS is the 79 relay, the one you want. The other one is the pump relay and they are different
  20. Pass. No stock locally? How long a wait?
  21. It will come out but not sure it is worth it just for access. Have you got a new relay 79 to fit in?
  22. BF+I. You sure it needs to come out? I took mine out to check wireing but you should be able to get at the relays with it in situ. Careful with the wire for the light
  23. Yup. Take out the lower shelf and with a torch you can see the three relays up in front of the glove box. They are stiff to get out. If you can, use a non metallic thingy to prise the relay out of its holder ( The relay is live). If you just pull, the whole connector will come out and break the retaining clip. (experiance!!) No problem changing it with the battery connected as long as the ignition is off.
