  1. I've seen MK2 Golfs where the paint is so badly oxidised that you get the white lines described above... If that's the case then a machine polish with a compound like 3M's Fast Cut Plus might do a really good job of restoring the colour but if this has already been done and gone through to the primer then respray is really the only option.

Either way I'd take it to 2-3 body shops (proper panel craft places / coachworks / restoration places not insurance approved 'accident repair centres) and get some free advice.

  2. No, he means the rear wishbone bush... was that what was causing that strange noise Neil on the left??

As mentioned above, make sure you get genuine VAG wishbones, thicker metal and bushes last much longer than the pattern ones.

  3. Hi steveo, does the steering actually pull??

If not then just move the wheel but if it does you will need to get it re-alligned front to back as it's probably the thrust angle that's out...

Elite in Rainham is probably the best place to go or Stealth of course...

  4. Hello, you won't really need a part number tbh although it's sometimes easier...

You just need to ask for a pair of Aero blades for a late Lupo / Arosa

Most VW / Seat dealer should keep these on the shelf - you might also find them in Halfords.

  5. Ideally you'd use a hydraulic press - could get a garage to do this for beer money...

I just used a socket for the small one and a small length of scaffold for the larger one along with a rubber mallet - they seem to go in straight anyway so this method works fine!

  6. Yeah ideally... they are all what I'd call 5 year parts - ie rear discs / bearings etc tend to last around 5 years / 60k miles so best to renew them all at the same time. If the old ones are ok and you can get them out though it's ok to re-use.

  7. Yep - look for fluid ontop of the gearbox... I'd change the slave anyway unless it's been done recently (should be an unpainted alloy part if new and a black cast part if old) then do the master if that doesn't fix it....

  8. Yeah that aint right as it doesn't click into position... one push to turn on and then again to turn off and it wipes on each push of the stalk...

It's the same on any other VW of that era - mk2 Golfs etc

You'll be saying that the front intermitent wipe is randaom next :)

  9. Ideally you want the Seat setup - try Badger 5

The problem with the Porsche rear calipers is that some of them are not wide enough to take the 28mm disc off the Seat 305mm / 4 stud setup.

  10. Just a heads up as these are a really good deal - usually retail for £20-£30 a pair!

Knome-Base are doing them for £4.18 along with all the other Philips bulbs etc, usually on a white stand near the tills.

Probably the best standard wattage H4 bulbs you can buy and won't strain the wiring or melt reflectors etc.

Running these on the G60 at the moment with fairly new lenses, perfect reflectors and standard wiring loom (a healthy 12.5 V to the bulbs with the engine running) and getting as good light as any modern car apart from Xenons etc and the beam pattern is spot on.

  11. You might find it's worth a trip to the dealer mate - the 1551 might read it when the Bosch / Snap-On ones don't connect.

Sounds like a valve block issue if the light is going out but no system pressure test at 5 mph - Like you say it could well be breakdown of the ribbon cable but not sure if this would stop the diagnostics connecting or not...
