  1. Ah ok - I was just talking about the original VAG part...

Yeah the BBM ones is meant to be better in terms of performance - assume G-werks can supply as they are a BBM dealer.

  2. I think the main point of these is that they don't leak like the silencer box which are notorious for it.

Also can be ported to match the charger outlet.

  3. AutoGlass are doing mine on thursday cost me £541  just wondering if anybody else had to pay that much mind you it isnt through the insurance and it is a genuine replacement from V.w

That's not right! - Mine was done by Autoglass only a coupe of months ago on insurance, the total was £350 ish and I had to pay the £50 excess.

It would have been much less but I got them to get a genuine screen from TPS (£180) along with new outer seal (£17) and new scuttle trays and clips etc (another £50 ish) - the rest was labour.

If you get a non genuine Sekurit screen you can also get a top tint ad these are about £120 I think and this was what I was getting originalt but it arrived in 2 peices apparently so they went to TPS as they could supply the screen faster than there own people!

  4. As Leon says, where that bar is there should be a bit of foam / felt stuck to the door that might have come off...

That said I have seen a few Corrado's where there is no sign of this piece ever being there so either they have had a whole brand new door fitted or it's the good old Karmann build quality (or lack of!!)

  5. You may find that changing the other side fixes this but GSF ones seem to only last a year or so and have a tendency to snap off.

I would personally only buy genuine VW ABS components

  6. Though I have to say that replacement parts on these bloody cars really don't last well. I do less than 3k miles per year yet I still seem to be replacing suspension components repeatedly every five years or so. They just don't make 'em like they used to ..

It's the roads they don't make like they used to Matt!

Genuine top mounts are the only ones that last on Corrado's but even then the bearings can need changing as they are only plastic - happens on newer cars too.

The other thing to consider is equal wear of parts meaning you really need to renew all the suspension components at once to get the most life out of the new parts.

  7. Hmmm - do you turn it straight on and off again and it's back at 90?

If so then maybe a wiring fault - look for brittle wires from the sensors and also check the pins inside the plugs look ok.

What about just sitting on the driveway - does it appear to warm up ok and the fans kick in at the right times? - this is a good test for the fans as your getting no airflow thru the front.

  8. Yep - was designed to fit in a Golf and mounted that way obviously...

Prototype of the 'RV6' was developed in 83/84 and as above was meant to be a diesel at first.

Sure we had a thread about this somewhere?

Obviously it was a great bit of design and the 24v versions were still being produced up until recently but now VAG will not make any more apparently and the only car still available to buy with this engine type is the R36 passat

  9. Timbo - I'm getting them from Goodridge direct - 5 sets as I got some discount and know people are always asking about them

I will do a GB thread when they arrive - will be about £40 posted the pair.

Will stick you guys down for it

  10. I decided to check the fuel supply because when i try to start the car it is backfiring. I'm guessing this is down to either fueling or timing?

Probably down to no fuel pressure regulation if you have C blocked off... you need to take a feed from the inlet manifolf or the pipe that goes to the brake servo (if fitted)

  11. Hello, it's the fronts I have ordered (fully stainless / braided) and I have a couple of sets of mids for a VR I think...

They will work out cheaper than that 6 line kit above so you won't have the standard rears that won't be of use if you go with the MK4 rear conversion...

Banjo bolts - these hoses come with them but as they are for a MK3 GTI they might be the wrong thread pitch for the TT calipers as they changed... you can't get these fron VW without buying hoses but you should be able to get them from a Motorbike shop i'd have thought...

  12. Ok, 1 out of 4 :)

A = Goes to the after-run pressure switch via a small hose

B = is the Main feed in from the black pipe

C = Goes to the Inlet manifold (this vac pipe controls fuel pressure)

D = Goes to the blue return from the FPR

Assume this is an engine conversion but if you can I would recommend using new pipes (and clips) from VW as these a shaped and last ages compared to bog standard pipe.
