Stealth had a box of red Leon AP calipers (in VAG boxes with part numbers) last time I was there.Nice - are they the monoblock ones that fit without any carrier Kev???
Do you know what discs they fit... I know they did some 4 stud ones a few years ago as an option but they are pretty rare...
AP make great brakes but are an awful company to deal with getting spare parts etc but these would appeal to me if they are VAG parts, deffo better reputation in racing circles than Brembo.
-
They didn't though... the price that they were was in the first 3 years of ownership and was low becuase warranty claims of the peeling lacquer on the calipers...
They did the same thing with the Lupo wipers - arm and blade for £15 back in the day!
Did someone buy new G60 calipers, carriers, hoses, pads and discs a while back for nearly £400? - probably more now!
-
Eh?
£745 isn't too bad although annoying for people like us who could have bought for £425 in the original GB's
I honestly don't think that's a bad price at all Jim for all brand new VAG parts + custom hoses that are sure to fit and provide a huge upgrade over the 280's

Yeah - I'd try a new sensor ontop of the gearbox then - maybe re-seat the wiring to it before you order one in case it fixes it!
-
What car / year is it...
Only really early cars got a non-digital speedo - Sounds like an issue with the speed sensor on the gearbox - about £15 from VW and easy to change.
Mobile phones can also cause this behavior - you've not changed where you've mounted it recently etc?
-
Best way to go is the Seat Ibiza Cupra R setup - Brembo's with 305mm discs...
Badger 5 does a complete kit.

Is that V8 going in a Corrado? If so that should be awesome!

Hey - just saw you got the job mate - well done!!!
Nice to see people doing well in the current climate and working for VW seems to be the way forward at the moment...
I was in Wolsey last week to test drive the GTi and they are selling loads at the moment, especially Golfs and Sciroccos!
-
might be all in my head but I swear the front end feels a touch more nimble too.I reckon it is mate - the Corrado bonnet weighs a tonne!
JMC - any chance you could put some pics up of the washer jet relocation?
-
Well... the discs actually come multi-fitment - 5x112 and 5x100 as they were Audi and VW...
That said I think the MKV uses a different offset so I assume the discs are different and probably the carriers are too...
-
The VW stuff found in the electrical catalogue is 000 979 950 but is felt based so I think it's meant to be used in the car only not engine bay...
AS-Essentials, who used to be Audioscape sell a good OE matching one -

And this is like the one VW sell -
-
Yeah just MK4 rear calipers but not those ones as they are too wide... not much point doing anything else to the rears really but a vented setup would be good if you can find a way..
-
Good price just for the fronts there...
The rears won't be as easy... not sure if anyone has fitted the vented setup but you will need stud axles and wheelbearings / hubs from a MK4 to do this as it's compeltly different to the corrado rear setup.
Didn't realise they ware 286mm either - thought all rears were 226 or 232mm!
-
MK2 badge is the same part so yes - obsolete now though unfortunately!
-
The 288mm setup is a straight fit with the hoses from the same car (female to banjo fitment) - Late MK3 GTI . VR6
The 312mm setup requires a 6mm spacer for the carrier and longer bolts to match.
-
It's 60k (VW state this) and the W6 DPO's do last absolutely ages as long as the engine is running well, worth cleaning every 5k miles but I'd leave them be unless you're having running issues...
-
You put the cplips onto the body first then pop the badge in - easy...
Well worth replacing the clips on the Corrado badge too if it's not tight to the paintwork as you might get a leak into the car
-
The front VR one is way bigger than the Corrado one...
The rear one is probably the same but you can still get these new from VAG so you might as well just get a new one
-
No...
-
Best to have a look round halfords - I managed to find some for mine with the correct radius set for OE wheels - think they were 40mm long which was fine as I had 15mm spacers (original bolts are 23.5mm IIRC)
-
Hmmm... Bosch have never been recomened by VAG for the VR6 but they are the correct Bosch plugs for that engine.
Regardless of make and quality, brand new plugs should work fine for a while at least - I'd check the leads are seated fully - use a screwdriver to push down on them slightly - also did you use the proper tool to undo them?
If you put NGK's in and it fixes the issue I reckon there is a chance the plugs might be fakes - maybe not that unlikely with the amount of chinese rubbish being sold by GSF these days...
-
Yeah sounds like the ABS system pressurising but as above this should only happen once - get it on Vagcom and see if any errors are logged.
-
APC overnight are always good and well priced for heavy stuff!
-
Hiya - it should just pull if you've taken both machine screws out - maybe give it a bit of a twist...
Unusual place for a leak tbh and it might be the engine is starting to breath heavily so also have a look round for collapsed pipes in the vac system
I reckon that rubber seal may have just dried out from heat/ age etc - new ones are about £3 from VW

Hi mate - If you can hold one for a week I can supply the bolts (got a spare set) and the front hoses - getting some Stainless ones made to order from Goodridge!
(the ones in that link are a good price but the standard hoses are zinc plated and only last 3-5 years before the ends go manky)
I think I have some VR mid hoses spare too so that will give you the 4 hoses so you just need to buy the rear conversion ones above.
