  1. Hi - yeah the chip will just be a writable eeprom with the makers name on it... Sounds like it's wrong for the engine as the Golf G60 would have a standard front mount intercooler as standard... Re the 65mm pulley - I assume your charger has been recently rebuild / in known good condition as this size pulley sticks alot of extra stress on the charger... also did you fit the smaller belt with the pulley?? just wonering if the problem is just slipage becuase the tensioner is out of its adjustment range? I would give G-werks a call about getting an SNS chip for your engine
  2. What chip is it??? Sounds like a map problem to me if it was ok before hand...
  3. The total miles is stored on a chip (NVM) so if you loose this it would suggest an internal fault on the board or with the power getting to it spiking etc... If it just resets the clock and trip then check your fuses!
  4. Yep, as above - you can also check the BTS with a multimetre set to ohms, it is most likely open circuit or nothing at all (A healthy one will measure around 2000 ohms cold) Another thing to try is to plug the blue plug into the black (Gauge sender) and see if this makes the starting slightly easier (I say slightly as this sender runs a similar but slightly different range) Crasher - I'm sure GSF sell seconds when it comes to these, I actually took a metre into my local branch last year after buying a dead one and out of 10 they had, half didn't work at all (!!!) and the other 5 all gave different readings, quality!
  5. Yeah headlight adjustment switch but most UK cars just got a 'Sans Plomb Unleaded' blank plate...
  6. Cool Ah - I think I see, is that using mostly Passat parts to keep the offsets etc ok?? I assume the above will work for other 4 stud models?
  7. Not much but the 92 cars (between M and N chassis) got the later 'bulge' bonnet and wings along with the corresponding later bumpers and light units... Interiors are all early on G60's and the engines were the same apart from some minor cosmetic changes... All 60's should have come with ABS but due to supply problems it only became standard on the later ones - deffo one thing worth having!
  8. Crasher - that's a 4 Cyl bearing kit but it doesn't come with a Hub as I have just bought 2 (It does however come with 2 suspension nuts and one for the TRE but not the bolts for the ball joint for some reason...) Do you mean the CV joint comes with a hub?? (If so thats good to know!)
  9. The Halfords ones are flat and cheap enough at £6.49 but they just stick on over the existing ones... TVR is cheaper than VW for the proper part - £25 a side
  10. It's more like £200 with all the parts new and thats not including the UJ... The problem reported may just be the lock housing at the top, it's a £20 part new but you may as well spend another £20 on a new ignition switch as well but best to take the cowling off and have a look first as it may just be a loose bolt - if it is tho be careful not to overtighted this as the lock housing is only made of ally... on the mk3 Golf this bolt was replaced with a shear bolt for some reason but they still come loose over time...
  11. Might be the grommet has popped out that goes thru the bulkhead but if it's original then just get a new cable, less than £20 and good for another 10 years...
  12. Worth noting that Goldie's Storm being a late VR is 20mm higher than older cars so 60mm is really 40mm My TDI is 50mm and it's deffo too low for comfort, G60 still looks a little high at 30mm so I reckon 35-40 is perfect
  13. Pipe goes into the TB IIRC
  14. Yeah - the ABS needs good battery voltage to work, stick a new one in there - will be fine
  15. Yeah sounds about right - more than an hours work to strip down and prep plus then you have materials and have to mix the paint... It's one of those jobs they'd prolly do for £50 on top of some panel work as they would already have the paint ready...
  16. Bager - check the battery terminals are tight...
  17. The ECU is in the inner wing panel in the pass side footwell
  18. Also be aware that that part of the card is not leather so other glues may be just as good - fabric adhesives etc...
  19. As above, also get new rear carrier bolts and ABS rotors (if needed)
  20. Bonjour, I am looking at getting a compressor (13amp mains powered) for general use i.e.Wheel nuts, tyres pressures, cleaning, fluid changes and maybe sanding, blasting and spraying in the future... Only have a single garage so don't want anything huge but also obviously want to make it worth buying one! Looking at 2HP / 50 Ltrs at the moment... what do you think?> Any makes to avoid or feutures to look for like 'autostart' etc?? TIA
  21. Yeah, as above it's a pointless mod usually done by people compensating for other problems in the cooling system..... Smudge - worth checking both water pumps are working and maybe changing the thermoswitch on the rad...
  22. Yeah it will be fine, they don't road test the car for an MOT and the brake rollers don't go that fast... Make sure you also clean the sensor as it's magnetic you get a build up of rust etc on it...
