  1. ...and the lead just plugs in underneath headlining
  2. Do you just need the gasket? - I think VAGParts so a repair kit...
  3. Most likely to be the heatshield on the bottom of the cat - it resonates up and sounds like it's comeing from inside the engine just get a massive jubilee clip round it....
  4. The sensor sits on top of the oil filter / heat exchanger housing... is that where the wire is? just trim back and reterminate with a spade connector.
  5. A garage should be able to do both in an hour - you need to loosen one to do the other anyways... On a VR6 deffo fit a VT mount, if the front breaks it's new bonnet time!
  6. 100Nm with thread lock...
  7. Good old BBT - not fit for purpose in my opinion!!
  8. Welcome to the forum... The stat is actually bolted to the water pump (most 4 cyl VW's are the same) - the pump is a git to get to as the charger, alternator and brackets need to come off but luckily you can do the stat from underneath by moving the power steering pump out the way (no need to disconnect) Make sure you get a new plastic housing, seal and bolts for the stat as the plastic goes brittle and also warps with age - the same goes for the other 3 plastic parts of the cooling system, the temp sender housing, outlet on side of head and radiator elbow - it maybe worth doing all of these at the same time and fluch and change the coolant to the newer G12+ stuff... also make sure you have the newer blue expansion tank cap, black ones are known to fail.
  9. Oh sorry - didn't read it properly... Could be belt tension, make, or as you say waterpump or alt - maybe best to take it off and check the bearings etc, worth swapping belts reguarly on charged VR's anyways
  10. could be the tensioner if the bearing is still original - easy enough to slacken and check - you just need an M8x80
  11. You just need to slide the white clips with a flat blade screwdriver... Make sure you take the leave mesh thing off to remove the ECU with out scratching the scuttle - this again has a black clip that slides to release.
  12. Should be seperate - maybe just 'seized' together...
  13. Yep - I would even tho you have a blue - maybe a cheap fix!
  14. You replaced the cap for a blue one I take it??
  15. 2 H7's is correct for angel eyes - Halfords still have the offer on the Super Brilliance too - best bulbs i've ever tried!
  16. oooo, give C&R Enterpises a call and speak to Steve - very knowledgable about mk4's on older cars.
  17. Yup - same on all models
  18. Cool - apart from the fact they'll probably give him a washer relay...
  19. Cool - the Haynes doesn't tell you relay locations (that would be far too useful) but it should be in the instruction book with the car or as mentioned above on the back of the fuse box cover (comes off after releasing 2 green clips)
  20. Yep - only the later 1Z engine is ECU controlled, if yours is an AAZ or 1Y then it will have a relay...
  21. Cool - looks like you found the problem then - I'm pretty sure yours will have a relay if it's a 92 car...
  22. Most likely the Slave - they leak internally to start with so you don't see the leak...
