  1. Yeah but they were proper half leather i think - ie the whole bolster was trimmed
  2. Just browsing thru the Corrado launch pack I dug out yesterday and I noticed a few differences in the seats in the interior shot of the 16v in the booklet 'The New Corrado' It's got Petrol cloth seats but the front seats have that black vinyl (as found in mk2's) covering on the back and side and the sides of the bolsters... they actually look really good as I've often thought the cloth covering the back of the seats is too plain and stretched, this stuff has a bit more of a texture to it.. Anyone got an early 16V like this?? - could have just been a prototype tho as the speaker grills are different (plain) and I also noticed the bl00dy gear knob is on backwards (so 5th gear points at 2nd), muppets...
  3. double-6s, maybe a shared earth with the horn but i'm not sure? I'd replace the whole linkage anyway dude, only £40 (altho you have to put it together yourself) and it will go eventually (and you know that will happen when it's pi$$ing it down at 80mph on a motorway) - the motor is more expensive but it's a standard VW part so just get a second hand one... (don't worry about part numbers, just check the plug is the same and they look the same - it will fit)
  4. That sums it up nicely! Maan I'm looking fwd to having a summer east anglian meet! Hugh - when do you think it will be on the road - maybe have a meet one of the bank hol weekends in may?
  5. Cambridge  - he just watched too much Byker Grove in his younger days...
  6. Jay - you can by the blades from VAG like any other car - usually in stock too! Interested in these inserts - what are they actually called?
  7. Hugh, just watched it - superb! Was that the first turn of the key?? - If so I'm impressed especially as you built your own loom! Like the VAG expansion tank
  8. There is one here on the VR but i'm not sure if this is the one you need or not...

    Blue smoke

Yes - that figure is just to cover themselves on new cars that can use alot... If any 'run-in' VW uses more that a litre every 3-5's then i'd say your looking at engine problems.
  10. double-6s, thats the horn, the wiper switch just plugs in...
  11. MK4 based discs don't use the taper style bearings so I reckon the whole stub axle would need changing at the very least...
  12. The green VAC tank looked exactly the same as ones found on carb golfs, the bracket would be easy to make also as this just mounts ontop of the fan relays...
  13. Where is the best place for the Irwin Bolt Grippers then??
  14. Jay, I think the thread pitch is the same - both 1.5??
  15. We fitted a VSR to Gazmans car and then he took it to Stealth for the ECU chip and wiring / controller stuff to be done... He said it made a noticable difference, just the manifold but was told by Vince to 'go easy' for the reasons above... He also has the unichip map for coilpack cars that came with it that he might sell if thats any use to you...
  16. Yeah, 60k sounds about right for a belt of that length... I very much doubt it's done 101k as I've seen a couple of VR's on 80-90k with what look like original belts and they are very worn/cracked altho this could have been to do with a failing tensioner.. If your not sure of the age and it looks a bit worn then i'd change it for the sake of 15 mins work and also a good time to check the tensioner, better than having the belt snap on a motorway!
  17. VR6's use M14 by 27mm... about £2 each from VW
  18. Any garage should be able to do this, very straight forward. Should be one hour labour tops if its just the fronts...
  19. Have a word with Stealth, they may be able to source the parts you need altho they won't be cheap... I hope you didn't pay much for it!
  20. One for each type of rack i think,..
  21. lpf33, really?? Cool - never knew that... I stand corrected!
  22. Change the slave - you'll need to eventually anyways...
  23. Hmmm - really need an expert like RW1's opinion on this I think - hopefully he'll read this soon...
