  1. Watched it this morning as taping the series. Didn't know a Corrado was on, so a great surprise especially as it was in the best colour (imo).
  2. I mentioned it in my update today, Meld went for an MOT and I can say she sailed through, no advisories. Am I happy; yes I am. 20 years old; still no issues, happy days.
  3. Literally with the eBay buy; the wiring made the install easy. As normal I searched through this forum and it was,as normal; priceless. The sound for me; is brilliant. I am extremely happy with the purchase; granted I probably don't have it set up correctly, but I am more than happy with what it gives me.
  4. Bless him; I read the history, fair play to him, what a beautiful example, granted people might question the transformation from a standard MK1 but I thought it was beautiful and thoroughly deserved. If he wants to wet his fingers on somethigng else,I've got an original,to me; Corrado that needs that loving care.
  5. Well I did say I'd keep this thread current as I let my others lapse.............So what has the fleet been doing. The daily hack, the VRS has just recently slid her mileage to 6 figures and The TTS flew through 20000 a few weeks before. As for Meld well since this thread got created she has just completed her summer events tour, she went to All Types Bodelwyddan, Stanford Hall, Weston Park, MK2 Owners National Day and Tatton Park. Maintenance has been in the form of a speaker upgrade to the rears. Originally when I bought her she had an alpine setup, could see the fronts had changed plus she was running sub & amp. Lately the n/s rear has been distorting so i went for the quick fix and bought the faithful The offending rear, couldn't believe they were the original Nokia ones the other still looks good the wiring which made for a simple 5 minute change round Glad this was done as the tunes were ace to have on the summer driving. Next job is the rear spoiler, which is having to have assistance occasionally from the button on the way down, having read on here I think it's within my scope and I always have 303 for visual confirmation on the rebuild. Hopefully I'll remember to do photos.
  6. Dialynx new toy, I believe it does hill climbs. Only went round a few times but my god was it quick. Modified 2.0T hence number plate.......wonder what happened to the original engine, will have to find out next time I visit the garage.
  7. Last Lot: Show and Shine Winner: The other Corrado And finally MELD (Mine)
  8. Well as most Corrados were heading to Harewood House, I was going to go it alone and provide a Corrado at the above event. Granted; this was partly due to being only 20 minutes away rather than the few hours for shows like Stanford, All Types and Tatton park. Also the times we'd gone before it had been very good. Well; numbers are definately down, the car parks used to be full, with the paddock area just for the club stands and those destined for the track, this year, we all fitted on the paddock. That said the bro and I thought we'd be gone by midday but the event offers;(weathering permitting) a lovely place to just chill in the sun whilst watching, ney praying they all get safely round the track in one piece. Highlight of the day: the parade lap, they decided to do 2 the first at the usual dinnertime slot the second just before wrap up. We decided to pay for the second one, but then the anouncement came "It's free to anyone" cash reimbursed about 40 cars took to the track marshalled by a lead car but the nice part as you aligned yourself with the press / photo car which then duly took a few for the album; once released you had a good half of the circuit free to hit the loud pedal (MOST ENJOYABLE). So in summary for the odd local member near Castle Coombe its worth a call in.....for those that wish to test the old girl, the circuit is 'one of the best', and if the weather is nice and sunny and you have nothing planned 'it is a perfect way to spend the day'. 9. It doesn't matter what your Corrado looks like; it's a Corrado and it's running But people will love seeing it.......and it inspires the next generation in hopefully aquiring one as it promotes the Car Nail and head spring to mind.........I've been to Tatton Park for a good few years now, mostly as an add on to the Mk2 Golf owners club as I share some parts.......the show is still good but a high percentage are repeat cars so the walk round is often done in an hr or so the rest of the day is meeting with some like minded folks and having a good catch up..
  10. I did try to register the car on the CCGB but didn't see it, so thought we'd already lost it. I even asked Baz to speak to the organisers to see whether we could be put next to each other as then we'd have a big pitch.......maybe a thought fo next year, as I'd like to be on the CCGB stand but as most of the family attend the golf side then I usually end up going there but if we were next to each other then problem solved........and we do share some VW parts :-)
  11. I here you, I used to donate to this forum but through changes etc the PayPal thing stopped paying. Then I saw the membership thing and signed up; reasons I believe that as a forum, it cannot expect to run for free.........unless like the Premiership, a foreign investment is made :-) America maybe. We do need to rethink though, I agree the Corrado in all fairness is rare on the roads so we should as enthusiasts endeavour to keep it alive; Christ even modern MG's are getting the limelight. I don't know the history between the two sites CCGB/Corrado forum, (I've heard wife's tales). But like all businesses they need to diversify; so should there be a coming together to form a go to site/forum.......whenever I have a issue with the Corrado this site is where I come, hit the search and start reading, it often comes up trumps. There is a lot of knowledge out there. I'm glad my opener has caught people's attention. To the comittee members on CCGB site Jim, Eric, I know you both put a lot of effort to run the CCGB site and hearing your responses I'd feel the same as you when you see that all your hard work ends in a muted responses. Back in the day (god I'm old) the southern possie as we liked to call ourselves regularly met these included cazzvr, vorwend, swompy, etc and we did the coleford show and then had regular meets/drives and it was great, nothing better than a poodle and pies
  12. i think what you have mentioned is also a problem, I imagine it would cost north of 50 quid just to get in; and here lies another problem the organisers need to let kids in for free.
  13. I here you with the Facebook but never been a fan; underlying motives etc etc (the site) I can see the appeal but I'd rather stay off grid(pardon the pun). I also think mileage is an issue, also the fact that a lot of people now work weekends so I know there are peopl ou there that can't attend but I have met such nice people; granted I only see them at the shows but again pardon ( it's great to catch up). I don't even know whether the 2 forums have Facebook pages. From my personnel experience Facebook is becoming a little annoying.......no nasties now bug as an Everton supporter, even going to the official website I open links to find myself on Facebook and immediately I get a big pop up about signing in or registering...........so intrusive.
  14. Before I start; please take no offence to this thread, I am gauging where this is not working. I have had Corrado's in my life since 1999 and not long after; I started paying the subscription to the CCGB site, if I'm honest it was so I could put my name down to attend shows (politics)and also help with the running of the site etc etc. But for some reason; and I don't know why as a club and Corrado enthusiasts we seem to use this (Corrado Forum) as our go to site; no bad thing as this is where we all hang out. To set the record straight I also pay into this forum to also help, hopefully the administrators, so they can do what they need to help keep this site going. Anyhow, my point is this weekend there are 2 major events in the calendar "VW & Audi Track Day" at Castle Coombe and "VW Festival" at Harewood house. Eric Coolen has managed to get between the both 80 slots for Corrado's yet as I look on the CCGB Site tonight 13 cars have signed up. So folks where are we going wrong (answers on a postcard or if you prefer an instant reply) I regularly attend Tatton Park, Stanford Hall, Bodelwyddan and Castle Coombe, and for the Northern shows as part of the VW Golf Mk2 Owners club which I'm also a paid member. These guys regularly get full stands and the atmosphere and togetherness is brilliant. I would like to show my car with fellow Corrado owners but; to take Tatton Park for example over the last 4 years the CCGB stand has been poorly attended and this year no stand, I presume because of the poor attendance we have lost it. Granted I always see at least 8 Corrado's within other groups but why are these not standing proud with the CCGB banner? Our cars are becoming rare so wouldn't it be good if we could pool together and get the atmosphere back, imagine potential owners coming to a stand were there are 10+ members all willing to tell them about the joy of owning the forgotten VW..........might even push prices up.
  15. Hey Eric thanks for snapping Meld; didn't realise how well I'd cleaned her, and that's after a trip from North Wales and only a wipe over with a cloth, no polish. Yes, I'm in with the Golf GTI Mk2 owners club but i always tag along with this club as my brother organises this........IMHO, I think this is the best show and always mark this on the calendar, even though I now reside down south. During the day though I spoke too 2 people about the car and informed them both about this forum........the 2nd bloke I spoke to has had a Storm from nearly new and hopefully if he remembers, he'll be on this site soon.
  16. we see that a lot at the shows we attend regularly and I agree it does make the mind start to wonder my bro has a stand there every year so put it in the calendar.... That's what make it (IMO) a better show than the norm VAG only meets as you see a nice variety..............
  17. Are you the one that let me past on the way out.......Nice looker, if that was yours......you need to set that alarm clock, you missed a good one.....
  18. Well this was a very good show again. Weather a little overcast to begin the day but once the sun had shone through it was lovely. The setting for the show is gorgeous. Large club areas also helped clubs to spread their vehicles about rather than the stamp size ones at some shows. So here are some pics of the variety of cars on display. VAG brand first - Only Corrado's I found, the second one was for sale. Others

how times have changed, I bought mine for 3500 4 years ago.
  20. Well in preparation for this weekend at Weston park meld has been fitted with new wiper blades and I now know they are from a variety of cars. Not just the TT but also the mk4 r32 is sporting them......anyhow tomorrow is clean day ready for the drive up to Shiftnal...weather looks good, so I'll take the pictures and post so you can put it in the diary for next year............
  21. Well it seems that the consensus so far is; the Cast is ok, we think Chris Evans needs to calm down, we like Matt Leblanc; but he's not British. The biggest problem we have though; they should have re-formatted the show. Can't wait to see what the originals do on Amazon
