    As part of the on-going improvements on the VRT I've come up with the MK2 Short Manifold. Nearly 2kg lighter that the original and a much neater folded design means less welding and much stronger. Sunglasses at the ready :lol:

    Can the bracket be used on the other side of the rad? If so you can put my name down.

     

    Not quite sure what you mean..... if you mean on the front of the rad then no it won't. The main fixing lugs are on the rear (engine side) of the radiator, the front only has small holes.

     

    Let me know what size fans you want brackets for, choice of two 6.5/11" or 9/11"

    Dave you're a legend, drawing up a laser cut fan bracket was on my list of things to do, but no longer!! Is it possible to fit two 11" next to each other or is there not enough room? How come you went for a smaller one?

     

    It's that list that gets longer, not shorter!

     

    Two 11's don't quite fit, and if you have a short-runner, you need a bit of space above the small fan. Most go for a 7 or 8" smaller fan but the 6.5" suited my car better. TBH most of the time the 11" does all the work just fine, the small one is for those extra warm sat in traffic for an hour days :(

    Here's a little idea I've had for a while. Laser cut alloy Spal fan mounting brackets. Really pleased with them. Minimal weight and no need to poke things through the radiator core. They mount off the OE rad mounting points so won't be pulling on the radiator anywhere they shouldn't. Foam pads on the underside fan mounting screws which are also flush mounting so won't damage the rad core. They work out at £25, if anybodies interested drop me a PM and I'll stick them in the for sale section, might even be able to sort out a group buy and get the laser cutting costs down a bit.

    Looks a very interesting solution and a bit like a more up to date version of the king pins on a DAF van (but for wishbones instead).

     

    Wonder what it feels like when all the joints start to wear a bit.

     

    Isn't Audi A4 / Passat a bit like that anyway?

    At times it all does get a bit much mate, especially as when the bills keep on coming and the fun seems to have gone. Glad you've found the interest again though :D

     

    R32 will be really nice! Plenty of torque low down even in NA form, really quiet and smooth, sure you won't be disappointed.

     

    Your timing is perfect too! I've just finished drawing the design of a throttle body adapter so you can run an OBD1 style on the R32 manifold. Only applicable if you're going standalone though.....

     

    Good luck with it, glad the old gals getting a new lease of life 8)

    Driving to a customers site today in the works Ford Mundain when a loud clonking noise developed at the back. It's an 04 plate with just of 66k on the clock and the original rear silencer has just dropped off. The rear boot lock doesn't work and hasn't done for about 12 months. The auto wipers have never work properly. It's a git to engage reverse when cold and sometimes slips into reverse when you want first resulting in unexpected reverse gear action. The engine sounds like the bottom end is about to fall out. But apart from that it's great. Wonder what it'll be like with 150k on the clock and 15 years under it's belt................

     

    The Corrado is no worse than any other motor IMHO, certainly they are better made than most.

    As Andy already mentioned, the rear Koni dampers have some height adjustment. But the Eibachs are so short that even on the max position it's still much to low.

     

    With the Pi springs it can now be adjusted for the best compromise. Might bring it down a little, but it seems to be settling on its own ATM.....

     

    Would love some coilies, but zero budget for that ATM :(

    Bloody ages since posting in here.....sorry.....

     

    Anyway, just finished fitting some Pi springs kindly lent to me by Toad (who knows what favours he'll be after :roll: )

     

    Ride comfort is much improved from the Eibachs which have had been fitted for the last 4 years. The overall change is to lower the front a little from the Eibachs and increase the rear ride height by about 1", they feel a little softer than the Eibachs too.

     

    To say it's transformed the handling is an understatement, no more banging and crashing over the bumps! I can now lower the back to the height I want with the adjustable platforms on the Koni dampers.

    Lovely sunny day today so the C will be coming out to play

     

    That's the ticket! I think you will appreciate the C even more when you get her out for a play every now and again.

     

    Went out in mine on Saturday morning, destroyed an SLK and returned home with a large grin!
