  1. Looking superb as always Shaun. OS rear BBS badge isn't straight mate :) . When are you next over Shaun, or is it our turn to come over to Jersey? Jim, I tried the half and half panel test and it really does look much better even after one coat. Mines been on about 5 weeks now and it still looks great after a quick wash, and thats with it stored outside, no cover etc.
  2. Shaun, it looks fantastic without using Photoshop :D . Like the location for the shoot too, very modern.
  3. Come on Rob, tell everybody all about it :D or have you broken it already :(
  4. Mmmmm mid mounted V8....... 8) bi-turbo
  5. Guess he'll be doing a 4wd conversion too then
  6. Does the VR6 engine handle forced induction.........   The answer is a big fat YES! The torque is awesome and the noise is just something else, but still quiet and refined, while still giving 31mpg! Welcome to the forum by the way :)
  7. Get some tubes of Smarties Kev, they've got carnuba in too!! Get's my vote Andy, it is a very relaxing way to spend a few hours.
  8. Nice work David, the megs polish really does the trick. Don't forget if you want to give the Dodo Juice wax a try give me a shout, I couldn't believe how much of a difference it made even after a good machine polish. I tried polishing out the small amounts of overspray that we looked at on my car, it all came off a treat and now looks really great, cheers for the tip :)
  9. You've been at the cleaning products again haven't you Rob! Looking rather good. Suppose we should get her running properly now then :)
  10. Yeh I know the Rubbadubz, been to a couple of meets. Any idea when the next one is? I'll come along for a natter and a beer! I also need to meet up with Steve G (Rubbas forum admin who you might know) at some point as he's after a short inlet manifold.
  11. This is a great idea, don't know how I've missed this thread in the past? I guess the 2.0 block and crank has a crank sensor? or does it all still run from the dizzy.... EDIT ok I read the first bit of the thread and found the link, I understand now! Are you still in Worcs Rusty, would like to catch up and have a look at what you've done to this, been looking at similar on my 1.8 valver to try and get a few more MPG out of her. Thought about megasquirt as I have a box sitting in the garage that I used on my VRT for a while....
  12. Both looking very tidy, the ride height on your raddo looks just perfect. Are you going to the AGM next weekend?
  13. A guy who lives down the road from me has one, nice motor (if you like that sort of thing). It is rather crazy just how quick they are, like physics gone wrong. 14mpg seems about the norm from his first few months of use, single figures if you use it hard!!! Nice treat though!
  14. Nice one Chris. Think you'll like how smooth the 24v is :D Give me a shout if you need a hand.
  15. Mines outside, without a cover, so yes you do have to be really careful not to rub anything in that settles overnight. Only done this process once, but seemed to go on OK without any problems. I carefully wiped the car down with a megs cloth before applying the second / third coat.
  16. It is amazing stuff, made all the difference to mine at U-Dubs and that was just the hard wax (3 coats). Gave the car a wash today and it still looked great so going to see how it lasts now. I like the idea of trying different mixes of hard and soft, think I'll give that a go. Mmmmm shiney..... :)
  17. Yeh, skipped between the lines too much!! It's gone!
  18.  you might want to wear ear plugs as well, it's pretty loud!
  19. Oh yeh, it's the victory feeling! You built it, installed it and got it running, give yourself a big pat on the back. 8) Not wanting to dampen your feel good factor or anything. But take it real easy with the mapping, make sure it's not pinking. Build yourself a knock detector. Otherwise known at a lump on copper pipe bashed flat, with a hole drilled in in screwed to the block. Put a length of tube onto it and run it into the car and then fit the other end to some old ear defenders. You'll be able to hear the det coming on and know your at the limit, come back 3-6 degrees. The other thing you could do with is EGT, worth it's weight in gold.
  20. Nice one Wayne. I turn my back for 5 minutes and you've sorted it! Good job :)
  21. The injector cleaning place looks spot on! Looks like it's £12 per injector for a service, which is much better value than anywhere else I've ever seen. Good find! MS does seem to do weird things every now and again. The MAPs get corrupted and it behaves strangely, but you re-flash everything (including the firmware) and away it goes again. Think I might still give it a go on the valver, to see how things have moved on. Has anybody got a throttle body with a position pot on it they don't want anymore?
  22. Another Raddo (1.8 16v) and a MK4 Golf GTI (family bus!). It's all to do with farms, mud, builders, cattle grids and speed bumps, hence an old raddo takes the brunt of the daily abuse. Thought the valver might be better on fuel, but it's actually about the same as a VR6 Turbo  without the go. The handling feels much more nimble though, can really chuck it around, VR feels heavy.
  23. I'd check it's a real Storm with VW before even thinking of going near that kind of money. They are worth a bit more but I'd put condition above Storm badges anyday. If it's been sat for that long then it'll definately need the parts you've listed so far. Immobilisers are fitted as standard to all CP model ECU cars (ie late VR's), and on an M it should have CP. If it's a real Storm it'll definately have the ECU immobiliser. Good luck with it :)
  24. Thats moving along nicely James. Guess the tensioners are OK then, looks like the old style top one? Are you missing the top bulkhead heat shield section on your car, I can see the stud it fits too? I guess you'll be making something to reflect the heat away from the brakes etc. That heat resistent cloth seems to be holding out nicely on mine, it's a shiney aluminium layer with a glass fibre weave underneath. Keeps the heat away from all the stopping stuff :)
