You didn't reply? - whats your budget?
-
I probably could of just lobbed some 263's in my engine and knowing my luck get more than my fully tweeked and rebuilt one will ever roll! LOL!
-
I did ask over on the Scirocco forum as it seem close to dead in there if they were interested in joining forces before more forums and their information is lost... but they didn't seem overly interested.

Just reading over at VR6OC - they rate the SP263 in every application, NA, super and turbocharged. apparently the NA cars saw 20+bhp and an impressive torque gain after a group buy they did.
-
I still went with the Shimmel 263 cams alongside the VGI - Vince spoke very highly of the SP263's, - but yes thats why I had my block bored, it wasn't bad but there had just started to be a slight score at the top of two of the pots.
-
I'm at 83mm which I think give 2931 - to be honest the pots are pretty thin, I dont think I'd go too big, possibly why VW made a whole new block for the R32... I've gone for 11:1 high compression pistons too - I still think the power gains will be negligable thou, my block was in really good condition but whilst it was in bits it seemed false economy not to do everything, I'm an OE man so I didn't fancy forced induction, but do like performance goodies ;) ... its still yet to be put back in the car.
-
Exactly that - I've thrown in excess of £3k at my NA engine and if it makes 220bhp I'll be very happy.
-
there are some on ebay... unrealistic performance claims IMO... https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/VW-CORRADO-VR6-2-8-2-9-NEW-STAINLESS-STEEL-MANIFOLD/161347605422?epid=23015052890&hash=item25911113ae:g:cZUAAOSwVupTqX~x

Ported and polished my OE manifolds, tig'd up the downpipe flange externally and gound and polished that as well. Not keen on ebay manifolds... you're going to be buying twice.
-
Could be the release bearing Hasan... that it disappears when you press the clutch makes me think it could be. Definitely worth doing the level though, my manual box is in a gazzilion bits but they are usually fill till it runs out.
-
Yeah really good pictures - nice to see one complete and not under a cover on my driveway ;)
-
Gesssss amazing info! Any chance you can shoot round mine and get the engine back in for me LOL! you'll save a day in looking up what goes where! ;)

Mad me laugh on a Monday morning! :D Yep I agree - dub dub Three can't be far off, there's too many of us so will ether be over religion or resource/land grabbing.

Good to see you back Kev ;) -
Kinda what I did with mine - but have filled it with goodies at the same time. Block was cleaned, decked, bored to a true 2.9 (closer to 3.0 from memory?) high compression Wiseco pistons, new everything, bearings, guides, chain set, MLS head gasket, Head was ported and polished by "the man in the shed" at the same time the Skrick VGI was match to the inlet and head again by Dave, Shimmel 263 cams, the cast exhaust manifolds were also ported and polished and the downpipe tig welded and polished smooth and the throttle body bored. But its still sat at my mates place in Silverstone waiting for me to put it back in the car... probably no change from £3.5K - a lot more than that on the rest of the car too, recon gearbox, everything powder coated and plated, new everything! - I could be tempted on an offer - I'll even throw in a two owner rust free car! LOL! The site wont allow me to upload any images at all for some reason..

The AUM is a later spec engine with VVT and the KO3S variant of the turbo which will produce more power if you intend to map it... but it's drive by wire so sorting the throttle can cause issues - you would technically need the AGU throttle setup. If you're going for the holy grail of 20vt engines you need a BAM code engine from the TT - factory 225BHP - software to 265-ishBHP and stronger internals -
cant see it personally.... Last Activity 25th June 2015

Another vouch for the 20v non turbo being a completely breathless weezy dog of an engine... to the point I seem to remember VW stopped using it in the GTI badged non turbo MK4 and went back to the 8v lump. Like others have said I would recon the 9a or look at a ABF - a few subtle mods and they go so well, head port etc, or a factory 150bhp with the 20vt - but dare I say it they are a little boring without a few mods.
