  1. You're a legend VEEDUBBED! You need to move back to the UK! :)
  2. Yep I think I'm going to add a can of this to the arsenal as well... I was wondering if it fired if that would spark it into life.
  3. Hiya VEEDUBBED... the car has been stood and not started for 3+ years - its fighting me all the way too :( Ether the injectors have gummed up or the alarm/immobilizer has come back to haunt me... but I'd of thought they would immobilize with the fuel pump... not the injectors? Yep sean182 I recon my job tomorrow is to remove the 12v feed to pot five (if I can get it off) and put a bulb on it to see if its pulsing.... the other thing I was wondering if there was a bleed on the rail?
  4. Well another fruitless day :( - after fixing my Audi I moved back onto the VR, powerwashed all the carpets which now look and feel great! but I still cant get it running, checked every pot for a spark which they have, cleaned all the earths next to the fuse box, checked to see if the fuel pump runs which it does. I was expecting a Golf GTI type pump setup with a lifter pump in the tank and the pressure pump sat next to the fuel filter just under the back seats... but as far as I can see there is only one pump? So I pulled the fuel rail feed pipe off and fired it into a bottle, fuel is definitely getting to the rail, but after removing a few of the plugs I can see that they are dry... its almost like the injectors aren't firing? Anyone got any ideas? I didn't think this type of injector would be affected by corrosion like the old KE-Jet metal injectors... I really dont want to strip the manifold off just yet and would 6 injectors just not work?.... I guess I could rig up a test bulb and check for a pulse?

    Any pictures? sounds interesting
  6. Yeah I had that feeling too! - unfortunately I wasn't looking past the shiney wheels and seeing my Corrado sat on the driveway, with a busted gearbox, not actually running yet, and in need of new brakes, susspension and many other missing or broken bits. :( but I guess the wheels would of looked good! LOL!

How does this compare with the TT wiper mod?
  9. I'll happily do a deal on the white one and £2k delfinis! :D LOL! Its only a 2 owner car!
  10. Fantastic! thanks delfinis ;) roll on the weekend.
  11. Cheers odub! - do you know what condition the number plate light surround is in? my one litterarly disintigrated in my hand :( - I'll check my ABS unit this afternoon.
  12. Just curious.. why does it need replacing?
  13. Interested in these! just double checking they are genuine BBS wheels? - not being rude of course but BBS has to be the most faked wheel ever! ;) Did Corrado's come with these as a stock fitment ever?
  14. Thanks again fellas - I'll get a picture of the handles up, so will Matts LED version will eliminate the fire risk on the switch? - is that purely that the LED draws less current? I'd like to do the head light loom as well, is that a difficult job? I don’t want to go overboard on mods but improvements I'm well up for ;)
  15. Very nice! - I'm in a similar postition... my VR turned up on a trailer ;)
  16. Afternoon fellas - yep Cressa it was a replacement ignition switch, like I say I don’t think I'm out of the woods yet electric wise as the dash is still flashing and the fuel gauge doesn’t appear to work... but I had a grin like a Cheshire cat when it turned over :D It’s not really a complete fire Jim... feels like maybe one cylinder is having a try, I need to get an HT lead removal tool so I can check the plugs for fuel etc - I'm not convinced the lifter/tank pump is running. I can only describe it as the sort of fire you keep the key turned and your foot on the gas for and sometimes it sparks into life.. but on this occasion I don’t think it will. Cheers delfinis - that’s a great tip, I can’t actually see any pictures on Dave’s thread, I'm guessing its the bit of cast on the end of the handle that pushes down on the lock mechanism to open the door?
  17. WOOOHOOO! £37 later and the VR6 turns over... unfortunately it doesnt start thou :( - it appears to attempt to fire on the first turn then nothing... but I guess its a start. I've poured a gallon of super unleaded in but the fuel gauge doesnt move off the pin... maybe I need to check the float and the lifter pump next? But its progress - all the interior is pretty much ready to go back in, just need to repair or replace the sound deadening and I was going to get some dinitrol to spray inside the doors etc.... I'm still very supprised on this car complete lack of tin worm! :) although I might just mix up some duck-oil (got a gallon in the shed) and oil to spray in until the weather improves and I can get the car fully dry, then think about dinitrol/wax
  18. Dont suppose you have any pictures of the soundproofing do you? I've bought closed cell foam and silent coat self adhesive mats but dont want to over do it in places that arent needed ;)
  19. I was just thinking the same thing! :D
  20. Very nice! are the rear windows tinited? any more details on the soundproofing? very intersted in that, my lightweight fast as possible days are well behind me and I want a quiet cruzer now ;)

    Boot carpet

We used to swap early MK2 Golf GTI boot carpet (with hump) for later no hump carpet and that fitted fine, to be honest when I look at my Corrado with all the interior out it pretty much looks identical to the Golf ;) - one thing I do remember is the early carpet seemed better quality on the Golf, and it extended under the rear seat.
  22. Need a few other bits too, off-side head lamp, number plate light surround, accelerator pedal stop bolt (plastic capped one in the floor), warning triangle that fits the back seat - also looking for a user manual/service book holder.
  23. My first test will be to see if the motor turns over with the new switch... the flashing dash is more of a worry, I think there is a deeper issue in all honesty, just leaving a car to stand is the worst thing you can do.
