  1. Thanks again to everyone - I'm still walking around with a grin from ear to ear! The info and tips from everyone has indeed been priceless and I'd of still been scratching my head without it, Lillfuzzer for posting the ECU without so much as asking for payment upfront, you rarely get trust like that these days, it's greatly appreciated. Now the hard work begins! ;) gearbox, brakes, suspension, interior........... I might be heading to the pub tonight!
  2. DOX YOU'RE A LEGEND!! I had pot 5 and 1 the wrong way round! she is ROARING! all 6 pots!! :D
  3. Cheers Dox - I'm like a cheshire cat at the moment! So I need to get a rad and thermostat ordered up... maybe a FPR too as I'm not keen on how its hanging together at present...
  4. Gents! I'm the proud owner of a VR5! - She runs... sorta! atleast 4 of the cylinders are operational and it sounds like number 5 kicked in before the petrol ran out.. LOL! Top tips Dox! thank you.. I'm hoping to get back out in a bit. What I've picked up on so far:- The radiator leaks like a siv... to be expected, heater matirx is getting hot/blows warm air and there appears to be no leaks into the car... bottom hoze is staying soft thou... which I'm thinking will be the thermostat? looks an absolute swine to replace too :( Nasty vibrations through the car when you rev it.. added by the miss-fire or worn mounts? Dash is continuously flashing on and off to the point it resets. The hazzard switch is broken and keeps coming on, not 100% sure on the MFA switch ether so two new storks, which may help on the electrical gremlins? Not convinced on the nasty leads I bought from Euro car parts ether... so next stop after Dox's tips is a decent set of leads. Now its dry.. would you lob an injector cleaner in the tank or are they a waste of cash? I guess ether new or sonic cleaning is the way.... Other than that... chuffed to bits! :D
  5. Well I have a miss-fire, some backfires and a VR6 that is really trying to fire! but maybe on 2 cylinders only :( I bled the fuel system again and a lot of air came out... and the fuel preasure regulator had completely siezed in the fuel rail... after eventually getting it out I could see some rust build up inside the rail... I wiped off what I could, but I'm wondering if the same fate has fallen to the injectors too. the FPR looks pretty mangled like it had been rogered in before... and sure enough I had to use P-Grips to get it back in... I dont remember them being that tight? I now need it not to rain and work to go quiet..... do I risk putting the orginal ECU back on?
  6. Do you still do the bonnet foams?
  7. Yep my Mum lives just off Thame road and the cars are already parked at the top of her road, yep been here a few years myself and its definitely changed for the worse, less pubs, less amenities, more houses, Red Lion converted into a house and TWO houses put in the garden! you could shake hands with your nighbour without leaving the house! Council are a bunch of crooks! I think the weather has put pay to the car for the day :(
  8. Indeed... Aylesbury Vale Council is doing their upmost to wreck the village the same way they have Aylesbury.... Thame road is just a Grid lock, I'm glad I don't have to face it in the mornings.
  9. Unfortunately it looks like the roar is off for today... as expected the rain waited for my lunch break, why did I leave Australia FFS! so a grazed knuckle later I have the earth strap off and cleaned up with 180 grit wet and dry paper, hopefully it will brighten up later today....
  10. Cheers Dox - I think I'm going to remove it and thoroughly clean and test it.
  11. Cheers Dox, I've had the body earth strap off and its been cleaned and put back together with serrated/cutting washers, I did look at the engine earth and it seemed pretty secure and a bit of a pig to get to... would you think it needs removing and cleaning too? - I did the possitive feed to the starter too, thats clean.
  12. This turned up today courtesy of Lillfuzzer! - thats the lunch break sorted! if it doesn't rain.... :( Thanks again Lillfuzzer - really appreciate your help ;)
  13. I'll let you know when they arrive if theyre any good ;)
  14. Found it! http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Black-Tailored-Velour-Carpet-Car-Floor-Mats-for-VW-VOLKSWAGEN-CORRADO-B2664/152254796434?_trksid=p2047675.c100011.m1850&_trkparms=aid%3D222007%26algo%3DSIC.MBE%26ao%3D1%26asc%3D40794%26meid%3D20d335807cb44b7baa17209a397be860%26pid%3D100011%26rk%3D2%26rkt%3D12%26sd%3D370855874583
  15. Looks good GF! I'm tempted on a can of this too http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/LIQUI-MOLY-Silicon-Spray-300ML-Oil-Grease-Free-Lubricant-LM3310-/182249240529?hash=item2a6ee6b7d1:g:~V8AAOSwMtxXtYHd I can remember using years ago when I worked in a body shop for lubing windows and sunroofs - so could be a good addition as well ;) Still can't find the thread on the eBay car matts.... can anyone remember it?
  16. Screw head trims that go on the door card screws
  17. Wowser 160€ for 2 badges..... they might have to go on the back burner... :(
  18. Cheers Cressa It was a bit on the slow side to close... I'm wondering if thats just the fact its not been used in years or maybe a new motor would be worth while?
  19. Ahh I was going to use grease? - didn't know there was sun-roof lube? dont suppose you know the name do you?
  20. It slides into a trim on the front by the screen, but other than that really easy. I was expecting it to be delaminated or like the bonnet and cable foam that disintegrates when you touch it, but it appears to be made of tougher stuff... it’s not blown ether where it got wet... I just gave it another wash down and a rinse and it looks much better.. I literarlly went over it with a tooth brush!.. smells fresh too! :) Yeah I have some silent coat which I intend to cover the tunnel and maybe some of the bulkhead with, I'm thinking possibly 2mm lightweight closed cell foam for the roof area... or maybe just a couple of silent coat mats to take the drum out of the panel.... I dont want to go overboard as like you say its a bit on the heavy side.
  21. lol - yep maybe the odd sneaky "work from home extra half hour" here and there ;)
  22. WOOHOO! I have a fully working slide and tilt sunroof! - I think I might do as you say Cressa and drop it out and give it a once over, pleased with that result thou ;)
  23. Here goes Cressa... heading back to the driveway now.. via the kitchen for a cuppa ;) fingers crossed
  24. Really easy GF... once you have the light out which is a clip and two screws, then the side trim and the headlining is literally held in buy the sunroof trim, that again comes away reasonably easy with a careful tug, then its straight out the tailgate and upstairs for a well needed bath! Seemed to be a fair amount of condensation on the roof which I want to do something about and I'm also thinking about a very careful wipe over the back of the headlining with something like Thompson Water Seal to stop anymore damp getting in and making my 24 year old car smell like a 24 year old car! :D
